I agree, the sole of the club isn't the sexiest however in the playing position the new M1 looks the same as the current/outgoing M1.

I am torn, on appearance alone I love it. It looks very high tech, like the engineers designed it to just work and threw the middle finger to marketing telling them function over form this time b***hes.

Also, it leaves me wondering if they were thinking along the lines of "we need to release something, but M1 is so much better than everything else (other than M2) why release new tech, we can bank that for next year and save some R&D $$".

 

Or maybe it was "we gave it all we had last year, we got squat this year. Let's rehash it and get back to work".

 

Either way, I play the M2 now and if this releases I will definitely hit it. Really looking forward to hitting it side by side with the Epic SZ.

I wish they'd change the crown... Looked again closer at the picture and the weight tracks do look different. They seem to be more narrow and potentially deeper? I really just wish they'd come out with an all black version or something different. I doubt this version of M1 will be much better than the current.

Here is the fairway. A friend sent this to me, looks to be pulled from Instagram, but I don't know how posted it. edit: original from @tourqualitygolf

 

It's a little hard to see because of the plastic wrap, but there appears to be a curved and covered slot near the face as well as the sliding weight.

Looks like at least the face and heel portion are level with the height of the sliding weights, but the lighter grey area and the carbon portion do seem to be lower. Very interesting sole design to say the least.

If it is legit, I'm surprised they're calling it the same thing as the current model. I don't think that's been the case in the past where the model name continues...

 

Generally everybody loved the M series, so there is a good incentive to keep the name ... mostly I think it's because they have not m1lked it enough yet :-)

Very interesting in the fairway and hybrid. Much more interesting than the driver. Just seems odd to go Gray/volt on the sole, but keep the crown black/white. I'd actually have loved to see the crown go all gray with maybe a hint of volt. Not enough to make you traditionalists cringe, but enough to attract young bucks like me who always thought Nike products looked cool.

I was really excited to see what the new crown would look like from address originally. To my surprise they made absolutely no changes to it. It boggles me why they would redesign the bottom, but leave the crown exactly the same as the previous model.....? It does appear that it may have a slightly different head shape though.

Looks like there's more Carbon and a smaller section of the white.

I think there is a picture like this floating around here somewhere. I believe that someone had the white painted dark grey on their M1 by Continental golf. And it did look badass.

Continental golf can refinish a white one to black crown for 50 bucks.
