The control of photos is likely more geared toward thwarting the counterfeiters for as long as possible prior to the release date. Ping knows they are driving us crazy but they also know that if we like what we see, they will get the initial rush of orders no matter how many Xanax people have to take between now and February. The counterfeiters are so good today at mimicking appearance that those copies would be available for sale on Ebay before Christmas if a picture came out today.

Met with my rep today. I200 looks super clean, Top line is not chunky at all... PW 45*

 

No color in cavity, similar to iBlade, super clean... didn't hit but my guess is ping guys will love it

Is the "i200" labeled like the "iBlade"? With the "i" engraved and the "Blade" laser etched?

Was the finish more similar to the iBlade/i25 (has more of a plated satin look) or ie-1 (has a little more of a raw unplated look)?

 

What was the rep touting as the difference between i200 and ie-1?

I never understood why manufactures are so dead set against pics coming out......What's the big deal.....I know people will say that they like to have a big press release etc. but i would think if you had a good product, a few leaked pics would be a good thing.....Example....what do you think is more talked about and hyped, the new ping irons that no one can see, or the cally epic with leaked pics?

 

I think that from their perspective it's a matter of supporting Ping's retailers who are still trying to move the current one.

 

Now you can make the argument that people looking at clubs may go elsewhere when they'd have held off for the new Ping if they knew that was coming, which has its merits too. Marketing is part science, part guess.

 

I think that while Ping knows they can't control everything, they are making their best effort to control what they can.

Seems like a lot of work, considering anyone with any sense knows that clubs bought on line from china for 1/3 the price of retail are fake and will not perform the same as legit.

 

 

i have seen Epons etc that are made in China that are identical to the originals except they are cast not forged.Perfect loft lies weights etc

 

and performed on trackman as identical.

 

I would think the chinese factories get the originals and make cad copies of them for casting.

 

The finish is different usually satin not chrome plated.

Finish and numbers om sole are identical to iblade. Size and shape are very close to current ie1. Much cleaner look though.

Due to lack of action on this thread, I may or may not have spent several hours last night searching every word combo of "ping", "i200", "irons", "2017", "ie2", "i", and "new" on multiple search engines......in several different languages......so this is how it ends huh?

Best description of the club ( since we could not take any photos on the rep visit ) take the back design (shape) of the S55 and put it in the current ie, then look and the bottom sole of the I blade - same finish, same shiny number.

Blade width fits between the I-blade and the ie model. This is what I remember from 3 weeks ago......I'm old.

Sounds more like these are going to be a late winter release. Definitely won't be released when the Glide 2 wedges are in the middle January.
