My tour issue 8.5 is coming tomorrow can't wait!

This is by far longest head and one of the most accurate I have ever hit driving has always been the weakest part of my game but I'm feeling like this could give me some new confidence

This is exactly how I felt. I honestly did not expect much from this head as I figured my JPX-900 was the clear winner for this year after repeatedly beating out the Epic SZ.

I have what I think is a really thorough review of the 440 as well as launch monitor numbers between the JPX-900 v Epic SZ v M1 440 over here.

Has anyone checked their weights on their M1 440 heads? I heard that the M1 440 vs. 460 were to be 30g of moveable weights, my Tour Issue M1 440 has two weights, 12g and 13g

Yup, I weighed mine. Back weight was 8.5g and front weight was 4g. Each screw and back-plate assembly is just over 3 grams. Hence, the total assembly weight would be 8.5+3.1=11.6g and 4.0+3.2g=7.2g.

Zak's article says 27g moveable weight: http://www.golfwrx.com/417096/12-important-changes-to-the-2017-taylormade-m1-and-m2-drivers/

"TaylorMade’s 2017 M1 driver uses a 15-gram weight in its heel-toe weight track, and a 12-gram weight in its front-back weight track. The 12-gram front-back weight is 2.5 grams heavier than the weight used in the original M1 driver, giving golfers more control over launch conditions."

Uh oh, "weightgate". I'd like to figure out what is going on here before I order my 440. Anyone else measure their weights in a tour issue head? Is this the same issue with a retail 440 head?

Yeah, I'm interested in this weight gate too

Tour Issue 440 head - Came hot melted to D3 I believe. Ended up cutting an inch off however, so now it's a bit off - More hotmelt coming soon.

Rear Weight: 12.2 g

Front Weight: 14.1g

Head Weight + Track Weights: 195.4g

Head Weight No Track Weights: 168.7g

Everyone's weights are all different.. not exactly instilling confidence at the moment.

What are the weights supposed to be again - I've seen some numbers floating around?

I guess for me it is a non issue for a couple of reasons: I cut the shaft shorter, so the swing weight was going to get thrown off regardless. As a result I will be adding a bit more hotmelt to get the SW back to D4. Secondly a gram or two here or there is going to do absolutely nothing in terms of the performance of a golf club and it's numbers.

However, I do totally understand this most certainly doesn't paint TM and their equipment in the best of light as they expect you the consumer to shell out $500+ and they can't get the $1.50 adjustable weights correct.

Hit the 440 today with hzrdus black shaft. Unreal club. Not typically a fan of tmag at all, but that's the best driver I've ever hit. 112ish ss was getting 285-295 carry and running out to 305-315. Workable both ways. That shaft head combo is murderous. I will be getting fit for one for this season. It's just too good not to.

Side note, I did try the sub zero with the same shaft and had very similar results. For me, the m1 wins because of the slightly smaller, more appealing head, Calloway head looks awkward to me. Call away head sits wide open where the m1 is pretty square to my eye, and the m1 was more accurate than the epic for me. Both were awesome and I could easily game either. Hit the epic first and was blown away, m1 was just better feeling and aesthetically more appealing to my eye.

Haha this is combo I have as well and it has forced me to sell my JPX-900, which I absolutely loved and still do love. That being said, my goodness am I getting incredible performance out of this head/shaft combo.

I'm with you on the Cally v TM head comparison. The 460 M1 is a bit expansive for my taste, but the 440 is no contest in terms of looks. I think the Cally heads look like toads with warts on them with that weird green and awkward bumps.

I hit both the new M1 and the new M2 compared to the Epic Sub-Zero tonight. Both the new M1 and the new M2 I did not feel were any improvement over last year's models. In fact, I believe this year's M2 feels horrible compared to last year's. The Epic on the other hand, is legit. It feels great, has four miles an hour more ball speed for me, and is also carrying approximately 9 yards further. With a low spin, this equates to a total of about 15 yards further than the best ones from the M1. Easy decision for me, but other users results May Vary. Definitely the best driver I think I've ever hit, and it feels outstanding. Definitely going to be on my purchase list for the year

Didn't see any numbers on them, although I wasn't looking all that hard as I had them on a scale.

I doubt that everyone's scales are calibrated right and are accurate enough at such low weights. Is it not inconceivable that people's scales are not accurate? I doubt the weights are off by much if any.

FWIW, I use is a balance beam scale. Highly doubtful there's any error.

Ok guys, help me out here. I got 440 9.5* tour head. Previously, I played a tour version 2015 M1 460cc head with a Rogue Silver shaft. Used the same shaft and went to my course to get on the Trackman. For some reason, I cannot get the ball speed up on this thing. Smash factor is around 1.44-1.45 on every shot!!! I am a +1 handicap with a swing speed of 105 mph. My pro thought I was miss-hitting it so we powdered the face...nope! Hitting it square. Changed back to my 460cc M1 and smash factor back to 1.49 with ballspeed back up to where it needs to be. The problem is that I love the feel and ball flight of the 440cc head, but I am giving up 10 yards in distance. I cannot have that!! Could it be a "dud" head?
