Does your new 440 weigh the same as your old 460? If the head is too light, the Rogue can't do its thing.

If it were mine, I'd have someone I trust to hit ithe 440 side by side against their own club. If they also have slower ball speeds (not smash or swing speed) then I'd pretty much give up on the head. If ball speeds are good, definitely continue troubleshooting.

Has anyone checked their weights on their M1 440 heads? I heard that the M1 440 vs. 460 were to be 30g of moveable weights, my Tour Issue M1 440 has two weights, 12g and 13g

Yup, I weighed mine. Back weight was 8.5g and front weight was 4g. Each screw and back-plate assembly is just over 3 grams. Hence, the total assembly weight would be 8.5+3.1=11.6g and 4.0+3.2g=7.2g.

Zak's article says 27g moveable weight: http://www.golfwrx.c...and-m2-drivers/

"TaylorMade’s 2017 M1 driver uses a 15-gram weight in its heel-toe weight track, and a 12-gram weight in its front-back weight track. The 12-gram front-back weight is 2.5 grams heavier than the weight used in the original M1 driver, giving golfers more control over launch conditions."

That is for the 460 not the 440..........

"The smaller size of the M1 440 allowed TaylorMade to increase the weight in the front-back weight track of the driver to 15 grams, making each of its T-Track weights 15 grams."

So, why are these "tour" issue weight less? Making room for hot melt?

Just weighed mine.......430 M1...NOT the 440 M1

The red and black covers are both about 3g each.

The underlying weights are:

Front under Black cover(normal) - 11g

Back under Red cover (normal) - 6g

Total:

Black (front,normal) = 11 + 3 = 14g

Red (back, normal) = 6 + 3 = 9g

So, if GWrx article is correct and the rear track is 15g then that would be

6g heavier in the rear. And 1g heavier in the front, 15g vs 14g

23g M1 430 vs 30g M1 440

However, this post seems to indicate only 2g difference? ie 23 vs 25

http://www.golfwrx.c...0#entry14874390

More weight in the rear track will change spin more as it is moved. Front change not much different

Not sure how the heavier rear weight affects location of CG at a set point compared to the 430 as the structure may be such that the 440 will give similar spin at the same set point. If so, the heavier weight would be valuable to change spin more with movement.

The M1 440 is everything I look foor in a driver head.

In comparison to a GBB Epic and an M1 460 and an M2, the M1 440 really stood out.

The smaller profile, the sharp well defined edge white edge at address gave me reminiscence of the MP600 combined with 910D3. On steroids.

The playability and ball speed plus the visibility at address seem to be the perfect mix.

Still have to test the Epic SZ at daylight though.

Ok guys, help me out here. I got 440 9.5* tour head. Previously, I played a tour version 2015 M1 460cc head with a Rogue Silver shaft. Used the same shaft and went to my course to get on the Trackman. For some reason, I cannot get the ball speed up on this thing. Smash factor is around 1.44-1.45 on every shot!!! I am a +1 handicap with a swing speed of 105 mph. My pro thought I was miss-hitting it so we powdered the face...nope! Hitting it square. Changed back to my 460cc M1 and smash factor back to 1.49 with ballspeed back up to where it needs to be. The problem is that I love the feel and ball flight of the 440cc head, but I am giving up 10 yards in distance. I cannot have that!! Could it be a "dud" head?

Getting tour heads this early means that you either have a bestie throwing you a huge bone, you're paying a very high premium through a well connected seller, or these are known "duds" that are still "tour issues" which means they were tested and in the rotation but didn't fit criteria... Did you're head come with a spec sticker?

Because the weights get changed anyway and hotmelt get's added.. I do the same thing with my retail heads.. my M1 3 wood has 2 different weights that I swapped out in the track and lead tape on the head to get the weight right. Same thing with the Tour issue stuff.. Lets say DJ wants a 440 head.. the builder has his specs and preferences in a note pad then picks the head and weights swaps stuff around and makes it feel how his last driver felt. It's always easier to make a lighter club heavier than to make a heavy club lighter.

Tour issue stuff is great cause you can pick the specs you want, being able to pick the specs is the value. If you don't have a competent builder to tweak the head, or you can't do it yourself, or If you're getting a random tour issue head and think it's "better" it's just as much, if not more of a crapshoot than buying a retail head.

I have an Aeroburner Tour issue proto that is money... Still puts up better numbers than 16' m2's I tried. I picked the specific specs but the club needed a lot of tlc to get perfect.

Usually takes a little while to see the best one on tour, didn't the m2 not become popular until later in the season last year?

Truly was the sleeper, live the 440 , but at 115 and +2-3 aoa spin is too low

To those player that are currently using M1 440 Driver, would you rate it better than the Epic & Sub Zero Drivers?

Most using thought the M1 440 Driver Trumped the Epic...

I found the 440 to be superior in every facet. The numbers weren't miles ahead of the Epic SZ or anything, but the fact that the club seemed to be much more playable for me was the closer. The Epic just kept going left.

Did notice Epic was 10-12 yards longer however depending on the Individual and Swing Speed

It varies from Driver to Driver...

440...

Depending more on Swing Speed and a flush shot off the Face

Epic has a harder Face more distance

I'd give them a call and explain what you're experiencing, If you're hitting the ball in the center and seeing lower ballspeeds than with control drivers under the same conditions there's something going on with the head. Hit it against a demo with the same shaft and see what you get.

well I wish I could update with some on course action but they sent me a M1 460 head instead of the 440 so back it goes and have to wait a little longer. Also they currently don't have the Tensei Pro White in 70tx either so I'm getting the new Matrix black tie M5 in 70x. I've heard nothing but great things about the new black tie from the reps.

But before I sent it back (and since it was a tour head) I took it to Golf Galaxy and tested it out hoping it would be a keeper. Man I just couldn't get as good numbers with it. It even felt harder off the face compared to the retail 440 demo they had. I definitely preferred the 440.

FYI: I got the same numbers with the tour head as their demo retail heads, so just because it's a tour head doesn't make it any better. Actually every rep I've talked to said the opposite, retail heads don't have to get CT tested like tour heads so they are more likely to be hotter. As many have stated here already, the real benefit of a tour head is knowing the actually specs of the head.

Would be curious to this also

The 440 appears to be popular on the Euro Tour. At Dubai a couple weeks ago, the 440 was the number one played individual model. Not sure about the breakdown on the PGA Tour.
