The M1 440 is Long AND Forgiving, I'm Impressed!!

Yeah I played the SLDR 430 and loved everything about it. I definitely need low spin help. Just got fitted into a Epic SZ to go against an M1. I hit the new M1/M2 but not extensively and I wasn't swinging well at all. But the new designs seemed HUGE!! I played the M2 last year and loved so I'm a little biased towards TMag.

I have been playing with the 430 since it was first released. Rogue Silver. I have tried the 440 head over the last few weeks. I would say it is definitely more forgiving on miss hits but they are still miss hits. I don't think there is much more if any distance in it than the 430. I feel the 430 would be more accurate. At this stage I am not sure whether it is worth the upgrade but early days. Has anyone else moved from 430 to 440??

I hit the 440 today and I'm very impressed. 9.5 degrees launched low and was an absolute spin killer.. Forgiveness wise it was miles above the 430 with better feel and sound, similar launch and spin... Into a 30 mph+ wind I was hitting them 2400 spin, apexing at 90ft carrying 266-268 with an XM TX shaft in it... My current gamer was spinning way more and thus balloning some into the wind. The 440 head will allow me to pair a more forgiving shaft profile without worrying about excess spin or too high a launch.

If the 440 is more forgiving AND longer than the 430, it may be the best driver ever made. The 430 is easily the longest I've played, and while fairly punitive on bad mishits, if I get it near the center, I usually get a decent result. Guess I need to hit the 440 to see for myself.

i moved from a 2016 M1 460 to the 2017 M1 440. I tried pairing it with a black tie 60 but ended up going back to my black tie 70, both cut to 44.5. I am carrying about 240 right now rolling out to about 250-255. At 9.5 it is still launching a little higher than i would like, so over the next week or so i am going to play with settings as I get a change. Overall, i feel like I square it easier than the 460. Distancewise, i am about the same. I also think it is a little heavier than the 460 was, or at least it feels that way to me. I havent weighed it so this week i will also have the swingweight checked. Overall I am very happy with it.

Got into GG today for a few mins and got a chance to hit the 440. I only took 5 swings, no warm up. I hit a couple to 270 and the rest around 250. I didn't catch any of them flush so it's definitely more forgiving than I thought it would be. I hit the 9.5 with Hzrdus black 6.5. This is definitely a spin killer. The highest spin I could get was just under 1700.

I just moved from my 2017 M2 to the M1 440. on course I just wanted to go straight as an arrow. controlling the flight was just as easy as my M2 but the distances were much more consistent. long as the day is wide. incredibly impressed so far.

How much does the 440 weigh?

The demo head I hit was 199g with the screw

Ordered my first 440 from TM at 45". Came in at 199g without adapter.

I got fit at The Kingdom today. I was mainly hitting the 460cc and could not beat my gamer (2015 M1 9.5* 460cc). Moved on to the 3 wood fitting because the fitter said nothing could beat my gamer. After the 3 wood fitting, we had some time so asked to hit the 440cc. Trying it with Tour AD GP shaft. Only tied my gamer. As a lark, I unscrewed my Rogue shaft from my current driver and installed into the 440. Hit the first drive, and the fitter said, "Whoa"! Kept hitting bombs! It beat my gamer (and every other combination we tried today) by 7-10 yards. Picked up 3 mph ballspeed and knocked off 500 rpm of spin.

The guy then went into the van built the driver the exact specs of my gamer with the 440 head. Pretty cool experience to try the gear and have the build it for you in 20 minutes to walk away with it.

Im seriously considering the 440 once my trade ins are paid out. Either Kuro Kago or Yellow. This driver just looks so much more appealing to me than the epics.

Fitter said nothing could beat your gamer.... boy was he wrong. Hate to say it but the same thing's happened to me before at less than stellar fittings. Shameful really since your own shaft in the new heads should have been the starting point.

I was about to say haha. Pumped you walked away with something that is an improvement from last year, but what was that guy doing? That didn't seem like a rocket science combination to try at some point during that fitting... "Lets try one of our new driver heads and pair it with your current shaft, maybe that could be a decent starting point at the very least"

Full disclosure, I asked to try the AD GP shaft, and he went with it. Maybe, he should have said, "we'll get to that". It still was one of the best fittings I have ever gone through. The Kingdom knows how to do it right. First Class all the way around.

This is exactly what my experience was, and your data is very very similar to mine. I just got the new Fujikura ATMOS Tour Spec Blue 7X and it is absolutely perfect. It is Low/Mid launch and as you know the 440 head is already as Low/Low as they come so the pairing is off the charts. Highly recommend testing the Blue out.

I'm assuming you got the hzrdus black? If you're trying to add more spin the hzrdus yellow or going down in weight on the DI to a 7x? If you want to stay at an 8x and like the GD profiles maybe the MT? It definitely has more of a kick then the DI. Was the weight on the bottom of the head in the front or back? That could affect spin as well.

I actually dropped the shaft weight from 7x to 6x thinking it might match up with the club head better, and have been playing AD-TP or AD-GP in 6x. They both perform really well. I'm just trying to decide which one to stick with.
