Same, put the same grip into play (think Tommy Fleetwood style)

Putting feels solid now with This putter

Not sure if this will make much sense, but here goes nothing. I randomly started screwing around with a Wilson Infinity putter today. It has this bright white line across the top of the putter, parallel to the face. I was using that and just focusing on getting the face perpendicular to my line...it seemed to be working really well. It made me wonder if no sight line would work better for me. Problem is, I couldn't find a single no sight line, face balanced spider. They were all slant necked. I could make that work but my stroke is more sbst so the normal double bend shaft is preferable. Also, are there any plans to release T alignment spiders? Thought that could fit what I was doing with the perpendicular line as well.

Funny that you should mention this sort of thing.

I have what most would consider a very BAD habit of my eyes following the putter head back from the ball on putt of less than 20 feet or so.

My thought process was "soft hands, shoulders, through to the target", the last part being the most important in that I wanted the putter to be accelerating through the ball.

Since I generally have no trouble accelerating through the ball (something I've worked on pretty much since Day 1), I've recently changed the "through to the target" to "keep the face square" and I've been finding myself much less prone to pushing or pulling putts by concentrating more on the leading edge of the putter. I start a lot more putts on line.

That line you describe might be more helpful for me that the line most often seen - from face to back.

Yeah I mean keeping the face perpendicular to the target line at impact seems pretty obvious but I wouldn't say it was something I focused on. I would say I typically tried to get my alignment right, thinking down the path that the ball would go, and then just hit the putt and assumed I'd stay square. When I was using that Wilson I found that focusing on the perpendicular line as an alignment device seemed to be helpful for me. I wasn't looking at the straight back lines at all and I felt a lot more confident that the putter was square to my line. Then I just needed to return the putter back to that spot and get through the ball. Seems like a minor distinction but definitely a different thought for lining up and hitting the putt. I'm thinking the T alignment or maybe even no alignment device at all would be best for this concept. The Futura X5 has a similar "T" alignment and there's some information on them implementing that because some players prefer perpendicular alignment aides.

I have found that with no alignment line that I can focus more on where I want to hit it and it is easier for me to keep square since there is less to focus on.

I have played around with the Spider Tour at Golf Galaxy a few times now and have loved it every time. My only issue like most was that I wanted a black one but hated that there wasn't a sight line and didn't really want a red putter. I settled for a black one so I will see if I miss the sight line.

I'm not sure what it is about the putter but it seems to sit flat compared to other 70 degree lie angle putters. I have a tendency to get my eyes out over the ball or even outside at times and with this putter I feel like it sets up perfectly flat with my eyes inside the ball.

So many guys that can add that onto it for you! I’m in the same boat. There’s a guy here in Calgary that does a great job for next to nothing! Could get you in contact if interested!

The black insert is described as "firm surlyn" where red is just "surlyn" according to TM website.

When you guys say there isnt one with a sight line you mean the slant neck? Because I rolled one with a sight line yesterday at GG and am pondering it again. Already have the slant neck no sight line but I need that help so went away from it. For some reason I always come back to the damn Spider because it rolls so easy and for a mallet it isnt really that huge looking.

Yes, the slant neck doesn't come with a sight line for now. I'm sure it will sooner or later.

has anyone changed the weights in their black/red? Thinking of getting a weight pack and experimenting a little bit.

i have a 6g weight on the toe and 4g on the heel with my 2017 Tour Black. SBST and never looked back at my Scotty(s).

Very interesting setup. Never thought about different weights affecting the face rotation. Something to think about.

Took me a while to put different weights and test to see what felt good. I've gone up to even using 12g weights before.

Any reviews on the L Neck vs the Slant Neck??

I'm gonna go out to the store tonight to get my club fixed. I'll putt around a bit with the L neck and see how it feels vs the slant.

I’ve had both, prefer the slant neck!

The plumbers neck seems to look a little weird to my eye. If you’re used to a plumbers neck though it might be the ticket.

My home course let me take a plumber's neck out for a few holes last night and I really disliked it coming from the slant neck. The distributed weight just felt off and couldn't really putt SBST.

My suggestion as a Spider gamer, anyone who will be purchasing the spider or gaming one now try adding weight. It is a game changer.

Right now I have 6g in the toe and 4g in the heel since the slant neck has a natural toe hang so it offsets a little better for a SBST stroke.

You'll need to buy a weight kit unless you have an old r7 sitting around.

Awesome. Thanks. I've heard horror stories about weights stripping or breaking the putter when folks tinkered with them. Was this a concern for you? Did you have any close calls?

One last question--the weights on that site are 2,5, 8, 10, etc. How did you get 4 and 6? Edit: Nevermind. Just found a bigger kit on Ebay.

Yea there are some bad stories but as long as you are not over clicking the weights you won't have any problems. I just stopped at 1 click. Didn't have any problems.

ebay is better for the kits lol. i just linked to the first site I could find with the weights.

Honestly, you don't even need to "click" them. The torque setting on that wrench is for driver weights... this club isn't being swung 100+ mph (if it is, it's not the right fit for you, anyway).

Slightly hand tight should be more than enough. Check them for tightness every couple rounds, if you're in doubt, but those horror stories shouldn't worry anyone.
