Phil on Feherty

He loves him some him lol

LOL!

It was a good first part. Interesting. I can see why people like him. That being said, I know people that have known him for a long time. They tell a much different story.

I think that could be said of every person on the face of the earth.

I enjoyed this Alan Shipnuck interview with Phil much more than the first part of this Feherty interview.

https://soundcloud.c.../phil-mickelson

It felt like Phil was performing too much with Feherty. Maybe that's what Feherty wanted or maybe Phil felt compelled to in front of the cameras.

I like Phil, esp as a golfer. But he is performing. I've always felt that Phil was a bit of a phony. Then again, everyone is in some way, shape or form.

Man, that was a long commercial, inter-dispersed with little bits and pieces of Feherty interviewing Phil.

I think he is recognizing that the ability to tune out the "noise", or rather, the ability to tune it in, is a desirable trait amongst professional golfers. I don't think he is standing on a high horse, but I do believe he believes he is an artistic genius on the course, which would be hard to refute.

so you think he's referring to himself as the really stupid type?

I think maybe more like the ability or trait of not being aware of negatives or danger during a round.

He and DJ are the best at this.

I don't know if you can get to where Phil is without a great deal of self belief. He does wear his a little more on the outside but if you think for one second that Jack or Arnie didn't believe they were great you are crazy. Being humble in public is one thing but the ball knows where your belief is and if you don't think you can........you can't.

Yeah, I thought he was a little too cocky, almost animated.

Phil has been consistent with his on and off course demeanor for many years. If that's phony, so be it. He knows how to "perform".

Tiger should have taken notes.

I think he's sincere, cocky in a good way, and sarcastic. Some people don't like strong personalities. I do.

I watched the show and look forward to the second show.

I really don't believe Phil was calling the vast majority of golfers stupid. He was being his sarcastic, witty, self. It was an entertaining realistic look into who PM is. I've always like him for his honesty, values, manners and style.

I especially liked how he clarified his view of Tiger and what Tiger has brought to the game of golf that Phil benefits from. Though I am not a big Tiger fan, Phil was right about Tigers contribution to the purses every pro enjoys. Also, liked it when he said Tiger always goes to the big picture, saying he's won "X" compared to Phil's paltry "X" and Phil still talks smack. Phil comes off as having a great sense of humor, self-confident and talks smack; all qualities I value in a person.

I thought it was a good episode and I like that he is a little cocky but also can make fun of himself too....It's awfully hard for someone to get to his level without being cocky because self-belief and confidence coincide with cockiness.....It's the elitist attitudes that I don't like where you think you are a better person or above someone else....but being cocky about your ability to perform doesn't bother me. This actually made me like Phil a little more.....I've never been a big fan of his but he was pretty funny and likeable I thought....That jacket was a little weird though...as were the roll comments lol

I too liked his acknowledging TW and his impact on the game.... however, I can't help but think deep down there is some resentment. I mean if it weren't for TW we would refer to the past 20 years as the Phil era, right? I'm not saying he's being dishonest about appreciating Tiger but he has to wrestle with that fact in his heart of hearts.

agree with what most have said here...it was just too much - more performance than interview

seemed to have heard at least half the interview in the promos...the one thing i did grab onto - he guaranteed that he will be on the next 2 RC teams...hmmm, we shall see

i was really excited for this interview but basically got nothing out of it, to me it was a huge letdown, maybe part 2 will be better. Phil is clearly an absurdly intense person with an extremely active opinionated mind, along the lines of Tiger Woods but not to the point where it has completely derailed his career like it has with Tiger Woods. Phil has superb self belief and confidence in his immense talents but didnt take it to the narcissistic levels of believing he could continually get better by rebuilding his swing 5 times from ground up and train with navy seals although in regards to the scandal there are countless rumors about phil and other women, especially around Scottsdale.

Could just be rumors that ive heard from different sources over the years, i have no proof of anything and nothing ever surfaced in the mainstream media. I wouldnt be surprised, even Arnie was rumored to make Tiger look like a choir boy

I thought it was entertaining. I really wasn't looking for a deep interview here. I liked his combination of self-deprecation and confidence; it's good not to take yourself too seriously all the time. For all those questioning his wardrobe, which was awful, he mentioned in the interview his horrible taste in clothes several times actually. I particularly liked his joke about blaming spectators for standing in the rough on the left 280-310 yards down the fairway.

It was nice of Phil to sincerely acknowledge Tiger being solely responsible for the purse sizes these guys are playing for. I don't think there is any combating that no matter which side of the Tiger fence you sit on.

?? Who has ever denied that? Or Arnie & Jacks impact on purses from the big 3 era? Phil has been saying this since 2000 nothing new
