Maltby vs big name companies

Big fan

Have always seen the online pictures and magazine pictures. They look way better in these pics. What a sweet looking setup this turns out to be in-hand

They look great in person and hold up well. I've got many rounds and range time on these and they still look almost new. No chatter due to silencer stand bag but the finish doesn't wear at all.0bcef28e3806bfcf26caeccae525c2be.jpg1f4f8348393d91980f16a43738a497f6.jpgc3d218779fe167c50bced8dedf27cc49.jpg

These irons are excellent any one who knocks them with out really trying them out because they are not 'OEM' is doing thier game a disservice.

These kicked Srixon Z 745s out of my bag.

As far as resale. Go spend $1000 on clubs off the rack, play them for a year and then try and sell them. You will be lucky to $500 out of them.

Buy a club pack from Golfworks on the DBM irons and assemble them yourself for $309. Sell them in a year and you usually can get $100. Now,,, whose resale value SUCKS???

I was strongly considering doing a TE Forged or DBM club-pack last fall, but the market for 2-3 year old used OEM clubs is so depressed that components just seem to make less sense in terms of value proposition than they did 5-10 years ago. I ended up going with "used" (actually still new-in-plastic) JPX EZ Forged '16 from KSouth9 on eBay for ~$40 more than the DBM club pack, and I made back ~$50 by swapping in Dynalite Gold XPs and selling the XP95s.

Still, if someone has a strong preference for new vs. used, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the TEs, DBMs, or MMBs. Part of me still wants to build a set to compare and maybe an upgrade for my backups, but if they're not going to be my gamers it just seems there are so many other used OEM options for less.

I play DBMs with CTLs and will until they break...they are every bit as good as any other iron available from a numbers standpoint...hit in the center i could put a blanket over where the 7 different heads i tested finished...i chose on looks...love the black finish and the fact it lasts forever...got 4-P built for 550...a little over half of what i was quoted for other major OEMs on a custom build.

When you wear out the RTG wedges. build the Tour Grind MG wedges, perfect transition from the DBM irons and same finish.

Can anyone comment on the MMB-17 blades? They actually look nice in the pictures and are intriguing. I just don't see how they could look or feel better than my MP4s, but I've never hit a Maltby club so I'm curious.

The TE/DBM is low bounce. I was going to order some heads but I greatly desire more bounce. Same story for the Wishon 565 forged heads - low bounce. Not sure why, guess it's just the designer's preference.

There is a great listing on ebay for a set of DBMs with KBS tour black shafts, The listing has been on there awhile. Original price the seller wanted was approx. $500. Now they are at a BN price of $300. All the clubs are new with the exception of the 9 iron. Great deal for a buyer - the seller is taking a bath.

The DBM irons feel really good. I purchased a 4 iron a while back just to try out. It's a very forgiving club for it's size. It looks thinner than my Fly Z+ irons, and just as forgiving. I wouldn't hesitate to play the full set. My Fly Z+ irons will be in the bag for a while, but the DBM irons will be an option in the future.

I also have the KE4 HDI in a 23* head and a 19* head. They are also really good clubs as well. I put an s300 shaft in the 23* head, and it's a great 4 iron option. Doesn't look too bad at address either. Kind of happy they didn't sell on BST a month back.

They are an excellent iron head. Very forgiving for a blade style. They have very good feel, don't know how they compare to the MP4s. Buy one, shaft it in you favored shaft and test away. Pretty cheap to do it that way.

The reason to get these, would be if we like them more than anything else. Not because "they're just as good as many others"

Glad we worked that out... good talk...

I just ordered one of the Pure-Track Tour Milled Mallet putters (the Odyssey #7 clone). I've wanted to try a #7 of some sort for awhile but always felt the standard was too light and the Tank/CB was too heavy, so this with a 75g grip and 24g counterweight should be a good compromise. The milled build quality should be a step up as well, I just wish it was a single-piece with milled face like the blade version instead of the milled aluminum insert.

Will do. I'm letting them assemble the shaft/counter-weight but I'll blow the grip on when it arrives... the club pak comes with a 50g SS Mid Slim 2.0, but I ordered a 75g Winn Excel Midsize that I'm going to try first. It'll be competition for a Cleveland TFi Halo Counterbalance, but I'm expecting them to be pretty similar, with whichever one is marginally better going in the main bag and the other in the backup bag.

Curious about that Pure-Track, keep us posted!

The Pure-Track blade is an amazing putter. Beautiful in hand and has a great balance to it.

Puting it in play was seamless and I have been rolling the ball better than I can ever remember. Crisp feel off the putter but not clicky. The double sight line makes lining up putts instinctual.

Best putter I have ever put in play.

When I started taking golf seriously, I got a set of Maltby CB's fit to me. I played them for about 2 years before going to something I "thought" was better. I wouldn't have any reservations about going back to them (especially those new DBM forged CB's or MB's!). They make just as good of clubs as the majority of the manufacturers, and better than some.

A bad day on the course is better than
a good day at work!
