Tiger Arrested For DUI (NO POLITICS, RELIGION, PERSONAL ATTACKS, ...)

I'm beside myself that a few people have suggested that because his car wasn't moving that he can't be charged. His effing car was running, in drive, in the street at a stop light with the blinker on and he was slumped over the wheel sleeping with his foot on the brake.

How do some of you conclude that he wasn't driving?

Tiger has been through more emotions in the last 10 years than most people go through in a lifetime. Fathers death, top athlete in the world, dirty laundry aired to the entire world, laughing stock of Kymars jokes, divorce, surgery, struggling golf game, the list goes on. Pills are very addictive and if you have depression issues it can be even more serious. It's not hard to understand why / if Tiger does have some depression issues and it's not hard to understand why / if he would abuse the medications. If you can't have sympathy for him as a human being than you have your own issues that are more than likely deeper than his. Whether his issues are self inflicted or not it's hard not to feel bad for the guy.

Many people enjoy seeing others suffer...it makes their tiresome, tedious lives seem better.

http://nypost.com/20...dui-in-florida/

The legendary golfer was busted on suspicion of driving under the influence in South Florida early Monday when a cop smelled booze on his breath during a traffic stop and Woods refused to take a Breathalyzer, a report said.

He was heading southbound — in the opposite direction of his $83 million waterfront home and his restaurant The Woods, local reports said.

The 14-time major champion, who was the world's No. 1 golfer longer than anyone else, was driving a 2015 Mercedes-Benz "erratically, all over the road" when he was stopped, law-enforcement sources told TMZ.

Woods' girlfriend, stylist Kristin Smith, the ex-wife of former Dallas Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh, learned about Woods' arrest during a phone call she received inside a Neiman-Marcus store in Dallas, TMZ said.

Several shoppers said Smith "went crazy," saying, "I knew it, I knew it," the Web site said.

Smith then reportedly began crying, bought $5,000 worth of merchandise and left the store.

So this appears to be a totally fabricated story. Truly Fake News. Beware what you believe from the media.

Yea well it's the NY Post quoting TMZ. Hardly the bastion of hard news.

Well, at least their source isn't "anonymous". lol

One word to all those issues he's had the past 10 years. KARMA. He treated people like crap, all the stories about how he never tips anybody, and he's got billion dollars.Having dinner with friends and family, and when he's done eating he just walks out. You can't treat people like that. Karma will bit you in the butt.

How many good stories do you think their are about things hes done that you will never know? I know quite a few but even his inner circle won't talk to the public about him.

Not tipping equals deserving the repercussions of the things mentioned? saying thats a little harsh is quite the understatement. Do some of you actually wonder why he has kept the public and media at a distance when this is the result? I don't blame him one bit nor do I feel I have a right to know every facet of his life/health. Hes owes me zero.

Haven't had time to read the entire thread but has anyone yet asked the question as to why he was driving a month after major surgery? This would not be part of the rehabilitation prescribed by his surgeon. I'm sure I recall Tiger himself commenting that he was going to be following his surgeon's advic assiduously not just the part about taking lots of painkillers...

There's no driving restriction after that type of surgery other than the inherent restriction on driving while medicated. I'm not a doctor but I'm having the exact surgery in 3 weeks and asked when I will be able to drive.

A lot of stupid stuff being spewed by uninformed folks in this thread.

FYI:

1. Per case law in most states the vehicle does not have to be in gear, and in many cases even with the ignition turned on, to meet the standard for "operation" of a motor vehicle. Sleeping at a stop light with the vehicle running and your foot on the brake more than meets the standard for "operating a motor vehicle."

2. DUI (driving under the influence) does not necessarily require the consumption of alcohol, just impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Impairment can result from ingesting/inhaling/injecting a vast number of substances, which in and of themselves, may or may not be illegal. The LEO just has to articulate "impairment" based on his/her observations combined with training & experience. Can be prescription, OTC, or any other substance known to cause impairment, doesn't matter, the DUI can still stick legally, though the vast majority of convictions are for impairment due to alcohol consumption.

3. Delaying the blood test, urinalysis, or breath test will sometimes result in a lower reading, but... will sometimes result in a HIGHER reading. It depends on when and how much was consumed, especially the last drink/dose. The readings can just as easily be on the way up as on the way down, so time does not necessarily help the suspect.

Has there ever been a more precipitous decline by a major athlete in history?

OJ_white_Bronco_chase.jpg

Good one. Then I realized that there probably is a good number of young WXR's who saw that and thought, "Wtf is this?"

Damn.. 16 pages.. lol

Whaterver. It's no Kirkland Golf Ball thread.

Would suck to have that much publicity about every move you make, good or bad.... Not surprised he tries to be as private as possible.

Can't suck too much. He's been rewarded handsomely in return for a very public life. There's no free lunch. Every time he signed on the dotted line, or stepped in front of a camera, he gave more of himself to the public. Tiger Woods, The Golfer, would attract a lot of attention, but nowhere near the amount of attention that Tiger Woods, Inc. has attracted.

Sounds like the medications made him totally loopy. He didn't really know where he was and thought he was coming from a golf tournament in Los Angeles. He took a breathalyzer and there was 0.00 alcohol level.

Here is the full details, here.

Maybe Earl's premonition about TW doing more than anyone to help humanity starts here.

Maybe TW uses his international platform of fame to help millions of people with prescription medication issues, saves lives, and then continues with new projects to make the world a better place.

Perhaps he could lead the world into a new age, an age of rebirth, a Renaissance!

Naaahhhhhhhh!

With all the mixed and partial information flying around, I truthfully don't know anymore if Tiger deserves our sympathy or disgust. I do have to say however, that I am totally burnt out on the "nobody's perfect, poor reasoning or conduct by others justifies my own or someone else's poor conduct or what have you" garbage. That's is just pure and simply an intentional deflection from taking responsibility for one's own actions. That kind of illogical rationalization never, ever, ever serves to justify a single solitary thing.

When one takes a Percocet orally as prescribed, putting the pill in your mouth, taking a swig of a liquid and swallowing it, roughly 48% of that oxycodone gets into your system after the pill is metabolized and goes through one's system.

By dissolving it, one gets 92% of the narcotic into their system.

This is 100% false.

So why was Tiger out at 3am mixing his meds and then driving? I am sure he will have a great answer for that.

Apparently according to the tiger fans in this threads there are several answers like: its none of your business, poor guy just mixed meds it can happen to anybody!, 90% of people have done this, etc..

What i dont understand is how can you not separate the golfer from the man. I loved tiger as a player but not as an ambassador to the game or as a person. This legal incident does nothing for me personally in regards to how i view tiger. It doesnt make me dislike him more nor does it diminish his record as aplayer. The reactions by his fans in this thread is mind numbing. The excuse making, the mental gymnastics in defending him, addiction excuses, etc.. sure there are some that are relishing this news but more are doubling down in the excuse making. The facts are so damming that if youre a tiger fan you should probably sit this one out and let him play it out in the justice system. Whether he gets a slap on the wrist or not its a DUI, period. Maybe your hero getting beat up by random people on the net hurts but its self inlflicted and should not affect your life in anyway and wasting enrgy defending the undefendable could be better used elsewhere. It is newsworthy and everyone will have their say whether we like it or not. My 2 cents

THIS IS THE WORST THREAD I HAVE EVER READ ON THIS SITE, and that is really saying something considering a slew of other threads lately. I sincerely hope a lock & clean is in order here, again. :lock: :busted_cop: :lock:

1. Fake news has really gotten out of hand (TMZ).

2. Tiger shouldn't have done what he did, it was illegal. At least no one was hurt, and it wasn't alcohol related.

3. Tiger should seek cease and desist orders for those outlets which didn't wait for any facts to come out before issuing their own verdicts (TMZ).

It's illegal, huh? Were you the cop that arrested him?

Try reading this Times article and re-think your theory.

http://www.nytimes.c.../25drugged.html

OVI is illegal. It takes a conviction to prove he was guilty.

It takes proving he was guilty to get a conviction.

I think with Tiger it's a combination of things. The guy has treated a lot of people close to him like absolute garbage over the years - he's grown to be an incredibly unlikable figure for many people, which has been magnified by as many people making excuses for absolutely every single thing he does or says. That combination leads to a lot of piling on.

Under a 24/7 media microscope? Yes, he's a world famous golfer and a billionaire so it comes with the territory, but you're full of s*** if you think handling your troubles in private is the same as what he's had to deal with. A bank vault filled with gold is a wonderful silver lining, but money can't buy you privacy, and privacy is freedom. Freedom? Priceless.

Tiger was the first.

Tiger is not only some sort of Night Owl, but is also seriously depressed, abusing meds and addicted to medication.

Again, the first.

More details emerging now. A couple tires blown out, the front and rear bumpers were damaged, and he thought he was driving from LA to Orange County. I'm sorry... I don't care what the law states about prescription drugs and driving, I can't defend this guy. This is just so irresponsible. He was lucky he didn't kill anyone or himself.
