What you do if your with 3 "lesser golfers" (hacks) is get them to agree to a 6 hole rotating partners match. You win all three and get paid for your trouble and each of them got to experience the utter thrill of being your partner for part of the day. Jwin-Jwin-Jwin.

Fixed that for you.

Thanks. You're a good caddy, something to be proud of.

You know it's going to be a long round when it's 40 minutes after your tee time and you're standing in the second fairway.

Or....

It's 40 minutes after your tee time and you are (finally) third group in line to go off.

Actually happened last summer. Our tee time was 9:30. We didn't get off the tee until 10:45 or so. And the groups ahead were all SLOW. It was a 5 hour 45 minute round. It was so hot DP - first and only time I nearly left because of the heat added to how slow it was. Truly pathetic. They explained that a bus load of tourist had come in unexpectedly and they have a contract with that hotel so they "had to fit them in".

Haven't been back to that course since.....

Just please tell us it wasn't another driver like Phil did that one time.

Got another one here.....

Here in Florida we've been in the midst of a drought. Well, we have more than made up for the lack of rain and have been getting hit hard for over a week now every single day. Good news - no more brush (wildland) fires! Bad news - no golf.

So...

You know it's gonna be a long day when you get up hoping for a break in the rain, look outside, and it's already raining.

There are old guys in front of you or you're paired up with old guys. Not that they are slow, they just talk to you the whole time.

Um, young guys also talk a lot, yes? Except their vocabulary is at a 5th grade level. Endless yo brah, dude, that was beast, yeah fo shizzle, and other sparkling examples of fake English language.

Sure but no one is telling 2 hour long stories about that time they played well or about that course they played 30 years ago. Old guys are the worst.

In 25 yrs of playing I have not noticed any correlation between gum flapping and age, or race, or gender, or religion. I have recently noticed an abundance of posts accusing various of these demographics of certain behaviors, and they are all false because they are subjective generalizations.

That's all I will say; I'm gonna bail out of this one.

....you take a 12 on the first hole of the Senior Championship...did it...hooking 2 in a row OB left, then hitting 5th into a tree on the right and having it not come down and having to embarrassingly walk back to the tee to hit 7th shot. Then going into the bar at the turn for a cranberry juice and having the bartender ask "you want strychnine with that?"...Long day, yes, but I did get kudos from a few players for not just walking off. Two day tournament, at least I didn't finish DFL...

Go on you for sticking it out.

Sort of like going to the dentist for a filling. You sit in the chair and you know that drill is going to hurt. But you stick it out because odds are you'll be better on the other side of the whole ordeal.

Yeah, that absolutely sucks when you start off an important tournament with a big number. Especially when, if you're like me you've been prepping and practicing in anticipation of it. I both empathize and sympathize.

This weekend

A) You get to the first tee for your 7:45am tee time and there is a Saturday morning league in front of you already 10 minutes behind. You finish the first hole and have to wait 10 minutes to tee off because the league group directly in front of you has not teed off because the 'long hitter' with the towel hanging off of his belt waits until the group is practically on the green (long par 5) before they start to tee off. After 2:25 for the first 9 holes you start to question being able to get that much need nap before driving 45 minutes to course 2 for the days second tee time. It was a looooonnnnnggggg morning.

The 4pm tee time went quick as all guys were decent players and not much dilly dallying around.

B) As a single you are paired with a 25'ish year old 'kid' and his mother and the foursome in front of you are some young guns playing the back tees (6,700 yards). Mom plays well, kid plays fine for having an off day. Both are quick, contentious of pace and we have no problem keeping up especially since we are just a threesome. One guy in the group in front seems to be struggling from the back tees but the other 3 players are making up for it because they were quick players and played very ready golf. I almost told them they should slow it down a little as the wait for them must have been just as bad as it was for us. If I was in their position I would have slowed it down. Somewhere out there was a group clogging up the works otherwise we would have finished in well under 4 hours, probably just around 3:15 for a course that has the pace at 4:30 max. It was another long day but not because of playing with a mom or a group playing the back tees.

a few stories to follow - both true - happened to me

1. You wake up a little hungover from a lot of fancy smooth and tasty single malt. Don't put your glasses on and start brushing your teeth with A535 heat rub. If you thought getting some Icy Hot spray dripping off your lower back into your a** crack burned, the aforementioned faux pas is much much worse

2. A clown 26 cap (that was a +2 approx. 30 years ago) decides to sign up for the Champs flight in the club C's and he is in your group. He has the honors. 7 off the tee on hole 1 after mucho pills blocked OB onto the range .. you have to follow that fine display
