Long day yesterday.

Was out on my own and making pretty good time the first couple of holes.

 

Caught up to some members on #3 who let me play through.

Breezed through the short par 3 4th pretty quick - was gone by the time they even made it to the tee box.

 

Then I caught up to a couple of old boys out with their wives. They'd just teed off on 5. Their best drive was maybe 120 (one of the wives)

Watched each of the guys take 2-3 practice swings then top the ball 50 yards, then repeat the whole process.

 

Eventually they made it to around 300 out, which I consider my safe range for hitting my tee shot. Striped one about 280 down the middle then waited while they putted out.

Hit the green with my approach and made my par then headed to #6 (long par 5)

 

They hadn't teed off yet as there was a twosome in front of them about 250 out. WAY outside their range, but maybe they figured they'd magically gain another 100 yards somehow.

They mention to me that it's pretty slow due to having to wait for a couple of hackers in that group in front of them. Figure to myself "uh huh, definitely not due to you guys only hitting each shot maybe 60 yards tops"

 

So they tee off. Again, averaging maybe 120 yards each. the one guy actually whiffed once and topped one about 2 feet before he finally made contact. Top their second shots 50-60 yards, complete with practice swings on each and every one.

Same deal as last hole - I hit a pretty good drive and get done in 6.

 

Catch up to them on the par 3 7th and they mention to me that "wow, you got that hole done already?"

Told them yep, doesn't take long when it's just me, hoping that they'd get the hint to let me play through.

 

Nope. They carried on topping their shots right through 7, 8 and 9, with me waiting ~10 mins to tee off behind them every damn hole.

 

They stopped at the concession shack after 9 so I jumped ahead of them and ended up catching up to the "two hackers" that were in front of them.

Funnily enough, after I joined those "slow two hackers" to make a threesome we never even saw their foursome the entire rest of the round.

When you get to the tee as a single and realize the group you are playing with just dribbled the ball off the tee. But it can be amusing when after knocking 2 balls out of bounds they still state they got a 5 on the hole - hard to keep from laughing after that no matter how long the round takes.

"In for a long day" when the practice range is closed, leaving me to tee off without hitting a small bucket and finding what swing showed up. That means front 9 will have more bogies than normal as I find my swing, and pressures the back nine to make up the strokes.

 

Weird round Tuesday night for me - got off a little later than normal and had already told my buddy to meet me. Was hoping to get there, hit a few on the range to oil up the joints a bit, and hit #1. Didn't have the time so went right from the car to the first tee.

 

Shot an awesome round. Still took 3 holes to completely feel loose but even those first three holes were not too tragic - only one over.

 

I honestly think it was because of the heat. SO hot not hard to get "warmed up" and no pain in joints to speak of helped me to swing free and easy. No way I could have done that well in winter time - even here in Florida.

 

Agree. Recent SOCA heat wave helps me loosen up. The other day didn't hit any balls, just chipped for a while and walked to the tee... busted one right down the middle. Yeah, winter in SOCA or AZ plays havoc with my bones. Aging isn't for sissy's. :beach:
