Best hybrids, old or new

This guy is still rocking the Controller 12.5*, 17*, and 21*. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Well, actually the first 12.5* broke but I found a like new replacement on eBay for $25. It is almost worth it just for the "what the hell are you hitting?" questions I get mid round when paired up with strangers.

Good luck..... hybrid or fairway are hardest clubs to find imo. I went through same thing over last year with below hybrids:

 

x2hot (in the bag): has draw bias, but very forgiving and easy to hit. Tried to replace it with something straighter, but it's back in bag. I aim right to compensate for extra draw. Also, distance control isn't great, I get some unexpected bombs with it.

 

Apex hybrid: less draw biased, hit it pretty straight. Not as forgiving or easy to launch as x2hot. Better distance control though.

 

Cobra Baffler T-Rail: great budget option, didn't hook this one either

 

Adams Idea DTS: this had worst feel of the ones I hit. Couldn't get past the feel. Was easy to hit, lower launching for me, not a ton of draw bias.

Ping i15 was the best I ever played cause it's the only hybrid I liked at address. Pair it with a heavy shaft and the thing is great!

 

I foolishly sold my 17 and 20 degree i15's years ago, but recently bought another 17 degree. It is by far the best hybrid I've ever hit.

I'm Team Callaway Apex on this one as well. But to be fair I haven't tried some others that interest me. I'd like to give the Cobras or Titleist's a try.

Just a skim here so not sure if they have been mentioned but the Srixon H45 hybrids are for real. I have the 16, 19, and 22. I feel like they may be a little longer than your normal hybrid as I am using the 2 as a 3w replacement, it's that long for me. They are easy to work both ways and don't fly too high with the stock shaft for me. Very accurate and long, love them.

My Adams super ls xtd will never leave my bag. Rough, sand, fairway, tee, it performs off of everything. I have a diamana s+ stiff shaft tipped 1.5 inches in it.

I've got a 19* Cleveland Halo that I've had for approx 10 years that's still holding reign. Over the years I've tried different hybrids but I usually go right back to old faithful.

The RBZ hybrids are some of my best clubs in my bag. I use the 5 hybrid a lot. I can really hit one out of the rough with it. I play the 4,5, and 6, and all are accurate and long.

... I am a little surprised there are so few mentions of the Adams LS. I don't like the gray racing stripe on the white head that turns green when playing and especially don't like the slot on the top that fills with grass from the rough and sometimes won't come out. But it is the longest and straightest hybrid I have played and I just can't seem to replace it and I have tried.

+1. I've got a 20 degree with a C Taper 2 iron shaft in it. I took it out of my bag because it didn't quite fit my gaping... but I throw it in there sometimes depending on the course and conditions.

It must be hard to improve on modern fairway woods and hybrids. An x2hot 4i replaced my beat up 585h 3i this year - both reliable and very cheap to buy new or near new.

Here's one that got no love, but I can't beat: TEE CB5. It has just about the best hybrid head shape I've seen, to my eye at least. Not the most forgiving hybrid on earth, but great ball flight and just the right amount of spin. I have a total of 6 of the 19 degree heads and swap different shafts to try out since the clubs can be had for like $20 on eBay... currently playing with one with an NV 2kxv shaft in it, but gamed one with a RIP Phenom for ever.

Last year I upgraded to RomaRo Ballista. This model outperforms my old MP CLKs, 910s and RBZ.

Rounded sole, long face, cupped vft titanium. Superb JDM quality build.

I have heard a lot about the Callaway Apex, but I'm curious about the new Callaway Epic Hybrids. If the Epic Hybrids are as good as the drivers, then I'll be wanting to get a couple of them to put in my bag.

Keep going back to my Cobra DWS Hybrids, although the Fly Zs were good. Change out the #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 & #6. Usually 2, 4, 5 & 6. Probably the Aldila Proto T shaft has something to do with it!

I refer to my Nickent 3dx ironwood 17 deg as my magic club. It is hard for me to hit a bad shot with it. I own about 8 different hybrids and I have this old gem in the bag. It sets up well and can be played from a number of different Lies.

Another vote for Adams, the Pro a12's for me. Never hit anything better or more consistent, just point and shoot!!
