The 2018 Masters Thread

Of course I'm biased as I play golf, but is there any sporting event better than Sunday afternoon, the back nine, at The Masters? To me there isn't, not the Super Bowl, the World Cup, the World Series or any other. Having been there in person Sat-Sun 1989, adds immensely to watching - you can't fully appreciate what you see on TV if you haven't seen the place in person. You just can't see the elevations and contours on TV, how scary it would be to putt on those greens, and the full beauty of the place. If you love golf and YOU haven't been, you owe it to yourself to see Augusta at least once. No other place quite like it. YMMV

I believe Fowler will miss the cut. He just hasn't been playing well for the past few weeks.

I believe that Fowler is a dark horse to win this.

It's getting awful lonely on the "Fowler will win a major soon" island. I hope he comes through this year. He isn't dominant but has the ability on any one day or weekend to go as low as anybody out there.

This has got to be the most excited I've been for a golf tournament. So many huge names, all playing well, and all wanting it for different reasons. I don't even know who I want to win at this point.

Tiger Woods: I mean, come on, It's Tiger. He's back. How could you not want him to win?

Rickie Fowler: Love the kid, and he really needs his first Major. Getting it this week would be amazing.

Rory McIlroy: Still chasing that Grand Slam. I'd love to see him finally get it.

Ian Poulter: First was told he was in for the Masters. Then he was told he was out. OWGR system f***cked him out of a spot. Then he grinded back to win yesterday in a playoff hole, securing his place at Augusta. I'd love to see him win because of all this drama.

I don't see this as Fowler's major.. I do think it will be this year though.. I'm rooting for the oldies Phil and Tiger.. Though not a great fantasy pick in their tiers, they are who I will be rooting for...

History will states that someone I did not pick will don the green jacket... I'm hoping to break the curse this year....

Go!

Bubba's been on fire recently, I think he's gonna win it (unfortunately).

When Bubba has his A-game at Augusta, he is pretty much unbeatable. That huge lefty fade is a big advantage on holes like 2, 9, 10, and 13.

Considering his recent form...Bubba has as good of a chance as any of the top players. One of the few that can work the ball around the corners.

My thoughts exactly. Pairing his lefty shot, current state of his game, ability to shape those silly loopers, new putter confidence and previous successes at Agusta make him the favorite IMO.

Who is this old man that is on #16 right now?

Ever-so-casually stuck one to inside 5 feet and made the birdie putt.

Also skipped his ball across the lake, and it ended up about 20 feet from the hole.

Caddie's name badge says "Lyle", but I can't find any info of who it could be.

Sandy Lyle? Must be.

So the wife and I have been talking about me getting a vasectomy for 6 months or so. Had my consolation appointment a few weeks ago and have mine scheduled for Thursday, first thing in the morning.

Here is to Thursday and Friday binge watching The Masters with no work, no kids and a house all to myself! Well, the frozen veggies/ ice packs will be with me every second, but they don't talk back or try to change the channel.

It's a nothing surgery, I didn't feel anything either. Everyone is different though, I felt fine afterwards but didn't do anything but sit around for two days because I know some guys who felt fine as well and decided to go back to work or go hit some balls at the range...their sacks swelled up to the size of a softball and they said it felt like they'd been kicked in the balls for two days straight. So, stay on the peas just to be safe!

Also, they tell you not to bust one for two weeks....hogwash, I waited 3 days! (cool)

Haha! God I love this forum.

Back to masters talk. I have a good feeling this week about Ryan Moore for some reason. He has played pretty well in his career here, and I think with all the talk around Tiger and the other top players, some one from the outside emerges as the victor.

Good point. Guys that are under the radar don't have to deal with the media circus like the top dudes.

Sandy Lyle

He also played with Jack in the final round in 1986.

That's one hell of a bunker shot.
