Truly appreciate the offer to military, but I (and don't know how many Sailors and Marines) would not or could not afford $2,295 for a set of 14 clubs (after discount) and that's without the "black finish" upgrade for the iron heads.

 

E-5s where I live make the equivalent of civilian $100k a year. They can afford it.

 

You have stated this several times now, but I would like to see your math.

 

The math is easy to do and DoD has a calculator to convert military pay, with the tax advantages, to civilian pay and calculates Total Regular Military Compensation: https://militarypay....rmc-calculator/

 

By my math, a single E-5 living in a high cost housing area, such as Fort Meade, MD (20755) would make $64,261.08 a year or the civilian equivalent of $67,909.17, far from $100,000. See below for the math:

 

Base pay: $3,125.70 (E-5 over 8 years)

Housing (BAH): $1,860

BAS: $369.39

 

Total: $5,355.09 per month / $64,261.08 per year

 

There may be some outlier scenario with a married E-5 with lots of years of service receiving some special pays or bonuses, but your average E-5 with 6 to 12 years of service is not making anywhere near $100,000.

 

I'm not sure what the precise math is but I've seen the bottom lines on leave and earnings statements side by side with an 8 year E5 with no language or other bonus pay and a DOD civilian making just over 100k. I'm talking take-home cash in hand pay...that you could buy PXG with. Not Gross income before normal deductions or standard contributions in the civilian world.

 

($3125/2) x .70 for tax = lets say $1100 per check base pay

D.C. BAH for Single E5 = $1025 per check

$369/2 BAS = $184 per check

 

= $2309 per check

Hate to break it to you Bobert but once I purchase your irons, you have literally zero say as to what I do with them. Our contract is complete and I am the sole owner of them.

 

Don't get me wrong, that's great that they are doing that because not many other companies do, but in the end they are paying what? The cost of a brand new set of current gen irons? Although I can see some O's taking advantage of this, because your avg E6 and below can't afford this stuff.

 

Glock has the same policy with blue label items, which made me weary when I bought mine. I have the same opinion as you that when I buy a product its mine to do whatever I want to do with it. It would be interesting to try and see a golf club manufacturer try to enforce this rule. I could see them trying to ban you from buying future products but that seems like a PR nightmare if it gets out.

 

Still an awesome gesture but you're right about one thing. I don't think my E5 salary can justify this purchase.

 

Also, I hate Id.me login sites. That service blows and I always struggle to login smoothly. Talk about lowest bidder.

 

PXG shouldve stamped the club with a little logo or badge to denote the Heroes program easist way to track clubs on market. I agree though if you buy you can do whatever you want with them. They also put no limit on how much product you buy apparently.

Lets not mix support for veterans with PXG. The two are mutually exclusive. I think a lot of folks have the opinion the PXG "deal" doesn't seem genuine.

Did mine by phone. You can also make other changes that aren't offered online like hard/soft stepping.

Question for anyone who has done their online fitting. I like my irons 1 degree flat and they recommended -1. I’ve never heard anyone refer to it like that. I’m guessing -1 would be 1 degree upright?

. Guessing it won't be happening they probably had a greater response than expected so they went and manufactured more of the gen 1 components which is why they are now discounting to the general public . They're still making money on these even with the discounts.

The gen 1 didn’t have give “P” right? But the gen 1 “P” had the little PXG logo up top next to the weights and the “0311 towards the toe, no?

 

It appears the newer gen 1 have the larger PXG logo toward to the row now.

 

Or am I dreaming ?

Gen 1 yes had logo high and number on toe ...... every other pxg iron appears to have pxg on toe ....gen 1 tour, XF and X
