Anyone try the Glider Wedges? I’ve been looking at smart sole wedge reviews from Cleveland  and they’ve peaked my interest as someone who tends to dig too much with my 54*\60* TSW wedges.

I haven’t tried the glider but that seems like a pretty substantial jump…from TSW to glider. The new Max wedges seem like the perfect in between wedge to help with your miss but still offer some ability to manipulate the face. The glider is so wide.

I’ve used them.  They are great out of the sand, and operate as high bounce otherwise.

I decided my Jumbomax experiment is over and swapped back to standard +4 grips on all my clubs. I weighed the DBMs and they should have been D2, but I added 4oz of lead tape to each cavity and hit them on the range just now. Nice center strikes on each iron. A little bummed that I didn't get the weighting right (could have left the shafts long for example and tweaked lies) as I'm not a big fan of visible lead tape but the performance matters more! Looking forward to getting them back out for another shakedown.

@Popeye64 Many thanks for the review. I might look up the INDI components during the rain delay at TPC. Cost vrs performance I really can’t see. Scoring lines to the toe of the club shouldn’t be worth the difference in price. Another deal breaker might be the cast design especially if you want to adjust the lie.
It does look big, and it might be the score lines, or the top line of the club. Thanks again.

During my ongoing driver shaft testing I warmed up with the INDI and the TSW.

In conclusion the INDI is a pretty good wedge. I could easily game it.

Would I game it over the TSW? No way... even if price wasn't an issue. TSW, particularly the DRM is a great all around head. It's sole is friendly enough for a digger to use but not ULTRA game improvement that you can't get creative with it.

The INDi is similar enough that it can do everything just as well as the TSW. But it does consistently spin 200-250 rpm less. Visually I struggle with the scoring lines going to the edge.... it just looks wrong to my eye. But that is my only real knock, but to me it's a big one.

TSW for the win.

The new Maltby max wedges will have full length score lines.

I went down same rabbit hole and agree with your findings.

Bryson swings SO hard, he needs more “meat on the bone.”  We don’t, IF we can employ proper grip with fingers generally touching each other.

The irony is JMAX work for Bryson and for guys (arthritics) that can’t keep fingers touching together.

I liked how the Jumbomax felt in my hands. With a driver especially- I felt like I was going to smash it. Very confidence inspiring. However after going back to regular grips I really feel like the super oversized grips take away from precision in the swing. So much of the swing is built from a correctly built grip that even though the JMXs felt good filling up the hands, I feel reaffirmed that a sound grip on a standard size is the way to go. Yesterday while playing I had a bit of an aha moment when placing my hands precisely on the club the way I used to. It felt so united and it was like a lightbulb went off, oh yeah this is why golfers use these skinny grips instead of big ones like a baseball bat!

So yes I agree with your statements. What's interesting is I believe Kyle Berkshire uses slightly larger midsize grips on his gamer clubs but an undersize grip on his long drive driver. He wants the smallest grip he can get so he can feel as much speed through the hitting area with as much release as possible.

I’m a lot shorter than Bryson (or probably anyone lol) and even the jumbo max small wouldn’t work for me. I just couldn’t get comfortable with that larger grip size.

An email reply from Britt on early TS3 TS4 Testing. Although he has no final versions on hand he may have them in 2 months. So there is a really good... but not in stone...chance I'll be able to do an early review/comparison of some sorts.

As excited as he is about the new heads he is hesitant as he can't have me test pre production pieces. He was even balking on that release of photos he dropped.

Regardless I'm very hopeful to have something for you guys to chew on in a few months. I'll certainly check back in with him in a month or two.

I'm thinking the TS 4 and the Xcaliber taper 110 might be a great combo

You might be mixing up the two new shafts. The Rapid Taper 105g is the top of the food chain iron shaft. It's been outstanding.

The 110g is the new heavier Spin Wedge shaft. Which again has been a great continuation of the original Rapid Tapers.

So I purchased the Maltby Pure Track SS putter shaft. Thier version of a stability shaft but 1/4 or 1/5 the price.

I've been having an ongoing putter battle in my living room.

An old favorite Moment XI has been making its presence known. It's alignment aid just seems to be what I need. Sure its not the racy blade style my ego keeps pushing, but it seems to work best. But the PTM-5 is so so close. So close in fact it needed a make over to try and put it over the top... I love how the PTM-5 looks!!

So I decided to use the PTM-5 head with the Pure Track Shaft.

Initial carpet testing shows some really encouraging results. Tomorrow I'll test on an indoor practice green.

Swinging the club has a different feel. My previous way of building was to add weight to the grip with weight ports. I liked the feeling of weight up in my hands. It always helped with stability. So this is why I've always been drawn yo a Stability shaft.. but not the price. Now it's throughout the club. Quite a different feel. But in a good way.

The putter battle rages on...

I’m quite tempted to build a PTM5 with the stability shaft and the new 1” flow hosel they’re offering. But I’m still loving my PTM1 and XI. I can’t add a third to the battle….can I?

Ah, I stand corrected, thanks. The new 105 RT is the one that's going to be matte black, correct? Any eta's on that one?

A while back I made up a KE4 TC 4w with a 50g driver shaft at 43".

Do you add any extra headweight and/or backweight with this type of setup?  I don't even go down to 50g in a driver so I can't imagine it in a fairway.  I sometimes think the 75g shaft I use might be too light lol.

I have become a fan of the Tour TC fairways.  My Mavriks are maybe a bit longer and slightly better sounding here and there, but the Tour TC is so much more consistent even using the same shaft and setup.  Some say the head is too expensive, but honestly it's a bargain.

When I first tried it I wasn't sure it was going to work. The only thing I do is make sure it swing weights correctly. Only one head I had to add 2 g.

It initially took me 4 or 5 swings before I hit it well. But after that I crushed it. Not only that but I can lay off of it or go after it.

Every player that has one has gained 5-10 yards AND consistency.

A while back I made up a KE4 TC 4w with a 50g driver shaft at 43". The shaft is a Pro TSL TS. Once trimmed it's a sub 50g shaft.  it's been the best fairway wood I've ever hit and it's not even a contest.  But being at 16" it leaves me short on some of the par 5s. 10 -15 yards which is just enough to drive me crazy. I've made 4 of the 16° setups for customers with the Pro TSL and everyone loves the club.

I have a Sim TI 3w that's a classic Jekyl and Hyde. I wanted to make up a KE4 TC 3w. It's 14°. Hoping I can grab those extra yards on some courses. Since the 4w works so well I frequency matched the 3w to the 4w at 270 cpm, built, with out a grip at 44".

I went to the Simulator to try out the PTM-5 on the putting green and brought the 3w. Hoping by chance a bay was open. Unfortunately it was busy but an older guy was banging a Sim 3w. Most of his shots were 210y and he had one peak at 215y but it was a pull.

I asked if he felt like hitting a combo in made up, he jumped at the chance. I told him it's a 50g shaft and it's gonna feel different. First swing he was well behind the ball. He chocked up a bit and proceeded to hit 3 balls in a row to 220. Each one was a baby cut right down the middle. He tried to jump on it after that and his misses were still in play but in the 195-200y range. Something he was very happy with. His misses with the Sim were ugly!

Standing behind him on the solid strikes the sound the club made was amazing. It's the higher pitched 'tink' that you know the ball was flushed. It's a hard to describe sound but immediately recognizable when you hear it.  He commented that he could barely feel the ball on the solid strikes. Just launches off the face.

I wouldn't give him that one,, but he wants one built.

Second day in a row I left the range selling a club.

You need to stop this. Those of us that are addicted to spending on golf equipment are just getting another reason to buy stuff.  My 3 W sounds exactly like the guy you described.  Ohhh no, that feeling is coming on me again, I need to get away from the computer.

Thanks Popeye. Always a pleasure hearing from you.

@Popeye64looking forward to your review!!

Have 3 heads on the way. 52 and 56 in the .90 and the 60 in the 1.05 sole. I'll be able to do some testing against the old M series+ and the TSW.

Just not sure what shaft I'm gonna rock. New spinwedge 110 or the RTi 105.

Do you find that the KE4 3 wood plays similarly to the KE4 driver?  I really like my KE4 driver and I am not even carrying a three wood at the moment.  I have several 3 woods but I have found that I hit my 3 hybrid considerably better and close to the same the distance or probably farther on average lol.  Anyway I feel like the KE4 driver has less tendency to hook then the 3 woods that I have and I am wondering if the KE4 3 wood might be similar in that area?
