You went in there and got a recommendation to find a head of approximately X degrees of loft, with an x-flex shaft approximately X grams in weight. You half-a$$ hit a few different things, and then walked out with something you never really hit. Take an hour, and hit more different things, until you find what you like the most.

Agree, I think that's a big enough sample size to make a decision on a club.

Despite not playing much since July, my changes have worked out well. The X Forged irons are much more controllable, the 62° is really handy and I just built a 41.5" Steelhead XR that had a good first outing last night.

I usually can tell after one or two range sessions and a couple rounds, then its BST or ebay.

Tales from the "never underestimate how completely clueless people are" department.

1) I'm on the range yesterday, just bustin' some nugs. Small Korean woman rolls up. She starts bustin' some nugs. Huge, 6'4" sweaty dude rolls up. He's a lefty. Walks right over to the Korean woman, and I think he knows her or something because he's set up like 2 feet from here. He starts raking balls out of the _same pile_ she's using and starts bustin' some nugs -- literally like a foot from the Korean lady. She looks up at him like WTF but I think she didn't really want to say something or relocate.

2) I end up on one of the two practice greens, right near the 18th hole. Guy comes down the 18th fairway playing with his kid. He parks the cart short left of the green. When he's on the green, a group pulls up behind him in the fairway. He walks over the green and starts giving his kid a chipping lesson behind the green. I think the group behind him expects him to walk back off the green, but the pin is way back, so he has to walk back down the green, put clubs away. It was very bizarre, but then, he starts giving the kid a chipping lesson on the green I'm using (he did move the cart over by the green), but he's giving the kid a lesson from a location where if the kid skulls a chip shot, it flies past the pin and rolls into my space. Believe me, there were about 359 other points on the circle that he could have been hitting balls from an NOT been encroaching on my practice.

The lack of awareness people can have never ceases to amaze me.

One night I was at the putting green at Hoobz, and there's this older gentlemen there with two women about the same age. He's obviously "teaching" them. They're set up in the fringe with about 20 balls each, hitting across the green to a pin where their shots are flying/skidding/screaming/rolling past 2 other hole locations on the green. And they're doing this same shot on repeat, collecting their balls after each batch and running it back. So they're essentially hogging 3 hole locations, screaming balls across the green for about 30 minutes straight, before moving on to something else. They also managed to pick up one of my balls about 3 times in the first 10 minutes I was there.

Will confirm people suck/lack basic awareness. I can't tell you the number of times (Sterling can confirm) we get people chipping at our local muni where they are chipping to a flag all the way across the green, using 20-25 balls at a time. They are effectively occupying the entire chipping green.

I HATE THIS!!! They also camp out with 25 balls chipping to the only actual hole cut on the green...LEAVE THAT FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO PUTT INTO A REAL HOLE (because you're never going to hole one anyway. the objective is to get it close)....it happened yesterday which is the reason for the caps

I went out there one day on my lunch break and this spoiled little shit (maybe 15 yrs old) was chipping on the practice green with his mother. She's standing up past the flag rolling the balls back to him after he's chipped all 15 of them all the way across the green to THE ONLY HOLE CUT ON THE GREEN. At this point he's blocking 3/4 of the green. The kid actually starts WHINING AND CRYING (a full on temper tantrum) on the green, and he's also talking to his mom in a way that makes me want to kick his ass for her. As I'm leaving I walked over and told him that if he keeps that kind of attitude he'll continue to cost himself on the course and in life. I mic dropped and walked away while his mom started rubbing it in his face

We jumped on Adam Scott, essentially without thinking twice. I'm really hoping he rides the momentum from that great round on Sunday into this week.

What's pretty wild is the gap between 1-3, and the rest of the pool.

At the very least, I'm hoping we hold the Q4 lead and get some cash out that way. Endless is the closest, and he picked Fowler. The person in third took Adam Scott, so they're out of it. Anybody further back than that essentially has to pick solo 1 or 2, and have Adam Scott really tank.

yesterday i go to the range for a bit and then out onto the course to play a couple balls and practice. on 16 a couple guys come up and ask if they can join. One of the guys has a rep as a gambler so i ask him about games. He tells me about a game called progression. All that matters is your quantity of pars or better. And you add a dollar value to the progression. Let's assume the value per progression is 5$. So if City makes 13 pars and i make 9 i owe him: 5 * 10 + 5 * 11 + 5 * 12 + 5 * 13. THAT is some gambling.

There's some guys I play with in Maine where if you're doing CTP's, you get progression on them if they're all you. You get 1 for the first one you hit, 2 for the second, 4 for the third.

I've always thought that would be fun for all dots. . .sandies, greenies, birdies, whateveries. All game long.

That's outrageous.

It'd be less crazy if you did it based on the difference. So using your example, it'd be 5\*1 + 5\*2 + 5\*3 + 5\*4 instead.

Sometimes it's nice to not have to grind, but I don't like when I go on runs of playing nothing but stuff where posting a score is secondary. Like in fourballs, where you can have a dirtbag hole and it doesn't matter, or you play things differently than you would if it was just posting a score. I don't like getting into that kind of comfort zone, which is exactly where I feel I am right now.

that's where junk really helps. hogans and 2mores* make a lot more holes matter. i'm both proud and embarrassed of this: sunday i had a 2more, a 2more birdie, a 2more sandie, a 2more sandie, and a 2more.

*miss the fairway, miss the green, make par or better

they play greenies every hole. that'd be a lot of fun too.

I'm starting to come to the opinion that if you're gonna play junk, you might as well play all kinds of junk. Otherwise you're potentially tilting it unfairly towards specific players in the game. For example - you shouldn't play 2mores, unless you're also playing Hogans.

I want to play a game of wolf at some point this year, where all kinds of junk is in play.

Cool course, though not the most exciting, its in really good shape and has cool facilities. I wish it wasnt exoribantly pricey to join as its like 1 mile from my house and would be the perfect easy place to get out and play after work most days. Def play there if you have a chance.

Couldn’t ask for me! Scott vs fowler to determine the Q4 winner. Bring it on Joe and Fabb.
