Which club in your bag was the biggest waste of money?

Probably my #1 Hybrid that I used to replace my 3W, which I couldn't hit very well. It almost never came out of the bag, minus the occasional "chip out from under the trees".

(Driver) Ping G30
(Hybrids): Mizuno JPX EZ #2, Ping G #3, Ping G #4
(Irons): Mizuno MP-57
(Wedges): Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth 50, 54, 58
(Putter): Nike Method Origin B1-01

3 Wood of any variety. I can hit a Hybrid just as far with more consistency. I wish I could find a 15 degree Hybrid that is not one of the joker companies.

I just made an impulse buy (Probably more money pissed away) for a 16 degree srixion Hybrid. I had a whole bunch of credit from clubs I traded in and I am ripping my 3 wood and my 3 Hybrid out of the bag and I will throw a 4 iron in if need be. Rash decisions always seem right at the time.

Always a putter. No matter the price I pay I know I can use something cheaper and have similar results.

Without a doubt, the driver. Why? It cost so much more than any of the other clubs, and in truth all the modern ones I've spent $$$ on are simply not much better than the TaylorMade R580XD that's been in the garage for years.

does everyone here have a R580 in the garage?

that would be an awesome thread, everyone compare their garage R580 to new driver.

Lol, I still have my old R580 too. Still hits like a beast.

Still have one here also- solid

seems we have a necessary video-thread(a side-note, I want more video threads, fun comparisons etc) forming. .

First was my set Rogue Pro gap wedge, couldn't be more inconsistent.

Now it's everything in between 4i and 3w. Cobra Utility is ok but not great distance, TM p790 is long but the head is jokingly light, needed 12g of lead tape to be ok. 2 Rogue Hybrid 19* faces dented and replaced, ended that experiment. Now have the Titleist 818 H2, first 3 balls on course were giant hooks with the face set 1* open. Will be trying that combined with the 14g fade setting Friday. Endless search for a 230 yd. ish safe club.

I echo JT's sentiment above, I would never keep a "waste" club in the bag.

For me it was the M1440. Not because it was "bad", but it's not as good as my '16 M2 by a wide margin. I also wasn't unhappy with the M2, but bought the 440 anyways because I was curious and liked the idea of the smaller headshape. Experiment only lasted 2.5 months before the M2 reclaimed it's spot for good (for now lol).

I would simply never keep a club in the bag that didn't suit my game and needs. By far the most disappointing club this year was the g400max driver. They really need something like Finau's 7 degree head to come out. Only then would it even be remotely playable. Launch is UFO threatening high.

I put a PX hazrdus black 6.5 in my driver and keep the head at 9 degrees or less depending on wind. Helped a lot, took my spin way down on launch monitor and im averaging 310-20 with a mid launch now.

I couldnt play the max before that, too much spin/height. I have even considered tipping, i think I could get 315+ carry if I did, but its straight so im not messing with anything right now. What shaft/ length you playing?

Does the 19th hole count?

I read this two times before I got it

TM P790 gap wedge was my hurt for the last 10 rounds. I couldn't get it to be consistent in terms of yardage. I flush one it's over the green, take an easy flighted swing and I'm short...just not anything like my former JPX900 gap wedge so I dumped her last week and picked up the new Blue Ion Mizzy S18 50.07 and hit all but one of my targets today, that was one loose swing. Feeling good now but man I hurt some rounds.

Have to agree on this. Love the 5-P, but replaced the AW with a Glide Stealth 50 bent to 49 and all is good again.

I havent pulled the trigger on doing something like this yet, but not far away from doing so. my AW launches so high, goes about 90yds straight up and then whichever way the wind is blowing. I've forcefully learned to take off from my PW to fill the gaps.

I wish I could make it work. It's massively forgiving and straight hitting. My 2016 M2 actually is lower launch and spin to loft and I have to play a sub 7 degrees of true loft to achieve the launch parameters I am after. If they would just make the 7 degree available, I'd give it another run.

Disappointing! It's an a amazing club! Pretty uncommon that the MAX , super forgiving head will fit an very good player best no? If you are asking for a 7* MAX I'd guess there are better options out there for you...but you know that.

I know it doesn't suit me, but I think that Finau head might be some serious business if one could be obtained.

My Titleist hybrid I paid like $250 for since I've probably hit it maybe 5 times on the course over the past year. Don't consider it a total waste since it does fill a needed gap, but I just don't use it often since I'm a fairly longer hitter and I don't need to hit 240-250 yard shots often.

I would say my driver at the moment. Upgraded to an XR16 driver. The shaft that is in the driver loads too much according to my instructor and it is costing me during rounds. I don't get a consistent shot shape and have no idea where my misses are going to go. Had multiple rounds where I could of broke 90 this year but had issues getting off the tee.

That driver wont be in the bag at the beginning of the year.

That’s funny bc that’s the club I’m happiest with at the moment. Hit it at the golf show a few times and fell in love with it. Wife bought it for me for Father’s Day and with the exception of my chronic lower back issues flaring up during a swing I’m liking it a lot.
