I played Mizuno MP-53s for years. Earlier this year, I switched to a combo set of XForged18 and Apex MB18s...truthfully, the XForged feel as good as the MBs. So, if you don't need a ton of help, give the XForged a look.

I have always been impressed with the Apex CF16s. They are soft and have a lot of pop.

Don't post much, and even though I have moved on (for now) from the J15 CBs.... a resounding YES to those who have listed them. I honestly look forward to going back to them once my current MB fascination subsides. Beautiful to look at and have never hit anything that felt as good.

... I seem to be the only one on this forum that keeps singing the praises for Cobra's Amp Forged/Fly Z+/Forged Tour irons. Excellent soft feel, mid size head, workable and very forgiving for a players iron. I have played all 3 versions and would still be playing them had I not fund the P790's, although I still play my Forged Tours several times a season.

was hoping to see you chime in, otherwise I was about to suggest these families

TM M3 9.5*
Cobra King Ltd 15*
Callaway XR 18*

Cobra Fly Z+ 4-P

Bridgestone J15 50*

Callaway MD2 56/60*

As others have said, JPX919 Tour. Players look but according to Mizunos data, slightly more forgiving than the AP3 and almost as forgiving as the MMC.

I have such a hard time believing this. I believe the data backs up the claims, but when you compare the two club heads the forgiveness isn't equal. One club is a single piece forging and the other is a a hollow blade with face inserts.

Vega vdc-01 In raw. ( black ). You can name all you want. That's the king of soft and forgiving. You can't feel the ball come off the face of that forging.

Never heard of them. Do you know of a place were I can hit these in Utah?

Club Champion handles them and I believe they have a store in Salt Lake City.

J15 CB. I've hit almost everything on that list except the Maltby.

Ive had 2 sets of Vega's and while they are soft they are not as forgiving as the Bridgestones.

I'd rate the top 3 as follows,

1 J15CB

2 MP 64

3 Wilson V6 and Srixon 765 (tied)

The J15 CB's feel like my mp33s. Very soft but way more forgiving.

Pls compare Wilson V6 to mp32 if you tried them. Ty

For those who really loved the J15CB, the new '19 Bridgestone CB looks just like the J15 with the addition of the "diamond" weight behind the sweet spot. In theory, this should be something Epic (if you can get past the looks). Bridgestone definitely designs their irons for the JDM market first and foremost and they've got a distinctly different aesthetic ideal than ours. Thankfully, at B-S (Endo), performance seems to trump all other considerations.

The more I look at this club, the more amazed I am that it's so identical to the J15CB. It appears that they altered the existing forging dies...it's that close. If you machined away the diamond, you're looking at a J15CB. At least they're listening to their customers. It's pretty clear that everyone loved that club. They obviously can't just re-release it so they threw in a slug of weight behind the sweet spot, and called it a day. If you don't mind the looks, you've got a new improved J15 in the same package.

Huge promoter of the J15 CB's here! With that said, I am looking forward to giving the 2019 X-CB's some time and possibly replacing my J15 CB's.

But that's gonna be real hard!

They're already available in Japan. You can buy a set on Rakuten for less than here, even with the shipping, they're usually much cheaper. There are several great Japanese vendors on that platform. I'm seeing sets (5-PW) with Dynamic Gold for $750.. That's a good deal considering that JDM Dynamic Gold shafts are equivalent to the DG Tour Issue here. The JDM OEM's insist on shafts with a higher degree of consistency with weight and flex profiles than ours do.

Tried these at a store in Japan, along with the Honma 737s and 747s. To me the Bridgestones felt the best of those and are making it hard not to buy. Really want to try the mizuno 919 tours first though, but I don't think they have them here for sale in stores so I may have to wait a while...

I'm surprised that the '17 Tour B X-CB was ignored by almost everybody. Was it that they weren't available anywhere? That'd be a good reason and, for practical purposes, they were next to impossible to find, test, and purchase, not to mention VERY expensive. Nobody seemed to like the look of them much either, but I don't see the same reactions to the '19 X-CB in spite of the fact that the only major difference is the shape and size of the weight pad in the cavity. I had finally warmed to their looks after owning them and the performance and feel was fantastic IMO. I'm going to take mine to the range tomorrow after all this talk....

I would love to hit them! I may try the '17 model since they are such a great value right now.

I hit some clubs form a local guy here today that were phenomenal. His website isn't the best, but the clubs are very nice! http://www.scottgolf.com/

And don’t think the diamond is no big deal. I like irons with more mass in the center. Bet these will feel great.

Soft irons feel good, BUT require frequent bending to reset loft and lie. I did all that.

I demand soft feel; now play Prophet CB irons available from Hirekogolf.com. This is a 2 piece club - a very thin forged face welded or braised in a cast perimeter body/hosel. The cast retains

loft and lie adjustments and the thin forged face gives wonderful feel and that tour click on impact. Perimeter weighted with weight positioned behind and below the ball for high soft iron shots Order your favorite iron, have Hireko assemble if you wish or assemble yourself.

You will also appreciate a much lower price compared with the names discussed above.

I have hit all of these irons quite extensively and would rank them Titleist, TM, Mizuno, Srixon and honestly don't think it was even close with the AP2s way ahead of the others. Prefer the JPX 919 tour in feel and forgiveness to the MP 18s actually. My favorite iron to hit was the p760 and wanted a set but TM does a poor job customizing clubs to my specs so didn't go with them. AP2s still top the list as far as feel + forgiveness which is why I have them.

I would say the Srixon 745/765 heads are as soft as any cavity back. They also are true forged clubs versus two- and three-piece construction. I don’t think the steel face insert clubs are as soft.
