Hi all, I’m in the process of getting my Nike blades refinished and I have the opportunity to leave them raw, rather than getting them re-chromed. My question is whether leaving them raw affects the sound/feel of the head to any noticeable degree? Appreciate that feel is always subjective, but I don’t want them harsh and clicky. Thanks!

Nothing less harsh or clicky than raw! Sure can't go wrong that way. Rust is also a nice protective layer, and you always have the option of dipping in Jax.

I agree with the others - raw is far from harsh and clicky. Please note, though, that not rechroming them means you'll be getting your heads back slightly lighter. Nothing a little lead tape can't fix.

If it's harsh and clicky, you're not hitting the center of the face!

I was shocked recently when I took my Cleveland CG7 out to range. When I built these I was striping them and they felt so soft. On par with forged... seriously. Haven't played them for a while and recently took them out again. My swing was all messed up and needless to say I thought there was something wrong with the clubs they felt so harsh LOL

Finally picked them up! Throwing grips on tonight and testing them vs the P7TW’s as well.

for anyone who used Birchwood Casey Plum Brown, can I throw the heads in the oven to make sure they are heated evenly before applying?

waiting on irons back Oughtons, decided to try oil canning an old rusty wedge i had in the garage to see if i can do it easily with the raw irons. vinegar overnight to remove rust, cleaned out the paint. baked it in my oven at 550º for 2 hours, then quenched in some old used motor oil. except for the scratches from the pliers when i pulled it out of the oil i think it came out pretty cool, pics don't do it justice, very cool bluish purple..

Thinking about having a set of P760 heads made raw. Does anyone think with the design of the head it would look strange in anyways?

Wanting to send off a set of Zx7 MKII to Oughtons. Does having the chrome removed affect the grooves? Would I need to have them redone?

For those of you who have used Oughtons to strip the chrome... What's the best way to send them in? Is there a work order? I can't seem to find one, and email responses haven't been helpful.

got them back from oughtons but then soaked in vinegar for like 24 hours to completely pull anything off them. then i put them in the oven at 550º for like 2-2.5 hours and then immediately quenched in used motor oil.

How do you like these wedges? Their ads been popping up on IG for me a lot lately.

I haven't been able to hit this wedge yet due to a rib injury but I had great success with the Edison wedge that came out a few years ago so I have high hopes for this one. The shape and weight feel very similar to the older version.
