“I’m home-schooled, I don’t have many friends, but it’s kind of the life I like, just being low key and doing my own thing,” Bhatia said.

That doesn’t mean he is embarking on this path alone.

Bhatia has a pair of deeply supportive parents. His father, Sonny, already has talked with agents and relayed info to his son. Bhatia’s stable of coaches includes George Gankas, Allen Terrell and Chase Duncan."

I would also add that skipping college to travel the world as a pro golfer will probably give you as many, if not more, real world experiences than holing up in a frat house for 4 years, drinking beer and trying to avoid STDs.

Depends on what real world experiences you are looking for. Kids shouldn't be in such a rush to grow up. I don't know. Maybe it's his personality. But being home schooled I don't know how he would fit into the college crowd. I think his path to be a millionaire golfer is looking pretty good though.

College isnt just beer and sex. Its about learning. For example,

How else can you learn how to make a bong out of the Norton Anthology of Eng Lit?

Hold on now, those were some fun times for me.......

On the other hand, to quote Dean Wormer, "Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life..."

So I can see both sides to the argument.

Good luck to the kid.

Glad I didn't have your college life. Geez. I went to school, did my work and graduated.

You two do know there’s a happy medium where you can study Tuesday’s Thursday’s and Sunday’s and then get frat boy drunk Monday Wednesday Friday and Saturday. Depending on your study groups still might have to avoid STDs everyday though.

You can only experience the world if you are in it. College is great for some, but it's hardly the only answer. Honestly, I wish more of my students would explore the world and both succeed and fail before stepping through my classroom door. Their education and experience would be richer for it.

Maturity really has less to do with time than that experience. Ultimately, for good or bad, he will be his own man.

New one smiles a little more but same friends. Young guys are respectful and polite to him but still the same handful. It’s not a criticism. Some people are more introvert than others.

Seems every time I see tiger out there now he's goofing around and cracking up with whoever he's on the practice green or playing with.

He wants to be a professional golfer, why delay turning pro for the sake of a university degree and a golf program?

As mentioned above he can experience a lot travelling and playing golf.

He’s got the game, why not use it now?

I might have a different perspective being Australian, nobody really cares what school or university you went to (except maybe a few of the snobby upper class types lol).

Good luck to him !

I haven’t seen him play. Is he ready to make it on tour right out of the gate or is going to toil on the mini’s for a few years (I realize no one knows, butbest guess)

I’d rather be playing for a couple years in college than a mini tour.

Ty Tyron comes to mind.

Ty made millions and played on the PGA Tour. Injuries and bad reaction to a medication is what hurt him.

He will get plenty of chances on Web and PGA Tour

Thanks. I didn’t know what his situation would be for starts.

He really made millions?

Absolutely. He was in Tigers video game. His endorsement deals were worth $8M

Wow, well then that’s entirely diffferent story then. If that kind of money is available, grab it while it’s there.

Did he get 8MM? Some stories cite that number. But what did he make, really?

And given how things went for him.

Maybe college would have been a great benefit.

I k ow there is an age gap but ould love to see him go head to head with Wolff

I have a feeling given they are both Genkas students this has already happened a few times. I would imagine Wolff might be one of the people he’s talking with to just go pro versus going to college.

I would definitely see this as a possibility. The whole group of Gankas's students seem very close together whenever you see them together so wouldn't doubt if some are voicing their past experiences to help Ashkay with his decision.
