What was your Scotty Cameron Custom Shop experience?

I’ve sent out 4 putters to the custom shop. And never once had a complaint when I received it back. They do quality work.  The turn around could have been better. But it’s to be expected.

Same for me.  Sent a fairly “well loved” Studio Stainless Newport 2 in and received back a beautifully refinished and exactly as requested flatstick .  Didn’t end up loving it simply as a matter of preference and gave it to my nephew and now the two are inseparable.   Great work and value in my experience, given what Camerons and especially custom shop Camerons go for.

I sent my newport 3 off for just a paintfill on December 17. With the mail being so slow, they didn't receive it until January 7. I am hoping to get it by mid February. Thats allowing a couple days more than 20 buisness days. But in reality I probably want get it back before mid March.

any update on yours? Mine is due at the end of March but nothing so far.

A little history for my experience.  Prior to the Custom Shop opening in 2004, you could send your Titleist Scotty back to Titleist and they’d regrip, reshaft and refinish the head for $60.  I did it every year since I was gifted my 1999 AOP Newport.  Then the Custom Shop opened and that same service more than doubled in price.  I told myself I’d pay that kind of money for a refinish once (remember this was 2004, lol).  I had them change the finish to the Pro Platinum so I’d never have to refinish the original oil can.  It has held up awesome!  Minus a little paint wear it is still in great shape and it was my

main putter until just recently.

Putter looks great.  Unfortunately they no longer offer the Pro Plat finish. 😞

i sent my notchback in and could not have been happier with the process and results. Like the OP I bought mine off eBay and they cleaned it up perfectly. They nailed the colors and design I was going for. Surprisingly it was not as expensive as I imagined and communication throughout the restoration was great.

The Custom Shop has discontinued all refinish and restoration services until further notice.  They will continue to do customizing (paint fill, grips, etc).  With all the other putter restoration companies out there with far more options available, I won’t use them anymore.  Their turnaround time had gotten ridiculous.  I have a Mil-Spec at NorCal that I will have back in 8-10 weeks.

It was a few years ago but I sent my Newport 2 in for stamping, refinishing, new shaft band, re-shaft at different length with new swing weight. Sadly, my original gamer was stolen during transit on way home. Custom shop told me it was probably the worker seeing the Scotty Cameron box. Love the box it was sent in, but maybe a more subtle shipping box on the way home. Got a new putter with the custom options sent after that ordeal and the work done was amazing.

Does anyone know if the Custom Shop will regip a putter with an extension in it without making me buy a new shaft? I like heavier weights so I got a stock 33" putter that I extended to 35"....I'd like to save myself $65 or whatever.

I can always pull the grip and extend it after I get it back but I'd rather not if I can avoid it. Anybody have experience with this?

I sent in an extended putter and they just replaced the shaft and did not charge me. Not sure if this is the norm but that was my experience.

they provide new shaft. (it's only like $10 anyways)

If you select to have them reshaft it, it's $67 according to the "visualizer" on the site. That's what I'm trying to avoid. I'm not getting it restored, just paintfill, grip and headcover.

Yes $67 for a new shaft, but you also get a $37 grip. So $30 for a New shaft install is really good price.

I know that the custom shop is closed for restoration right now but does anyone know if you send a pro platinum putter in, is the refinish in black just black oxide on the carbon putter? Meaning is there a a nickel plating they use and then apply a black finish on? What about the silver finish they offer? Thanks!

Can i ship my putter to the custom shop by usps? Or what is there preferred method?

That's what I did when I sent a Button Back, they will take it however you send it. I pulled the head since it was being reshafted anyway, saved some money on shipping by sending just the head.

Anyone buy a grip from the site? Just went to purchase one and the shipping to Canada was $52usd. More than the grip which is absolutely insane.

I recently bought a Pistolero in red for a friend. It is the only one they have listed as in stock, and it's 1 per person. I had to pay $10 in FedEx shipping which was the cheapest option. $41 for grip plus $10 shipping plus tax was $53 total USD.
