Mr. Gorman,

Thank you for chiming in in regards to the outstanding response that your new products are getting.

I remember a few years back when I ordered a set of custon 1025M's and they were at the time the best iron I had played. I was very excited when your company picked up Bobby Grace to join your team, and must say that the New Generation Fat Lady was a tremendous product, which unfortunately can be picked up for mere pennies today.

This new line looks to be exciting and promising to get Mac back in the game and to have a new strategy to concentrate on what made Mac golf clubs so great. I think that the DW wedges and the cavity backs are true winners for your company, and I cannot wait to see the other woods and Game Improvement irons.

Also, when you post more, as you are now a great and welcome addition to the board, please show us the pictures of the DW Gunmetal wedges!

All the Best, and it would be great to hear from the Immortal Don White as well as Bobby Grace on this board!

Thanks Mr. Gorman!

Matt

And someone on this site a few months back said that McGregor was pulling out of the American Market? Those are sweet! My bro-in-law is on staff with them. He will be getting a call from his older brother and I for a smokin' deal on those babies! Those could be frikin' laser beams, yah baby!

huge respect for Macgregor now after seeing the President posting on here in response. With a guy like that in charge the only way is up for the company.

Well said. More companies need Presidents that are in touch with the actual consumer instead of just "guessing" or assuming what they want. I played the M675s for a while and thought that was a great iron, but these new offerings are superb!

Yep.

Eons ago, MacGregor had two basic "premium" lines - Tommy Armour and MT's. The "Flying MT" that you're seeing in the photos was on their irons at least as far back as the 50's - my first full set of clubs was a used set of "Louise Suggs" MT's (I was 12).

In the 60's (I' think) The "MT" label faded away in favor of the "DX Tourney" - I have no idea what "DX" stood for. Sometimes, the only real difference between the Armours & the Tourneys was the packaging - for example, both Armour & Tourney irons had a 'diamond back' muscle at one time or another.

As I recall it, the "Armour" line became a "custom order" line in the late 60's, after the introduction of "VIP's by Nicklaus". The MT line started mutating - they came out with a "split level" sole - the sole started out 'normal' and then it 'stepped down'. For those who didn't like the look, they also made MT's with a normal sole.

MacGregor eventually made a bunch of mistakes - giving up its rights to the Armour name; diluting the Nicklaus brand by marketing "Golden Bear" clubs at K-Mart & the like, etc.; getting themselves so tied to Jack in their marketing that his eventual decline as a tour player left the brand selling nostalgia.

BTW - that muscle back looks a bit like something Arnold Palmer's golf company put out eons ago.

Are the pics of the PRO-M exclusive to this site? If not they've already been lifted and posted on another. Gotta watermark these guys.

Just received an email form Mr. Gorman. I asked if a combo set will be available and it will. How cool is that? And the President of the company responding! I know what my next set of irons will be. They will go along with my copper face Tourney irons.

I wish this was Hogan having the big turn around

Was sitting here reading the post thinking the same thing.

Great to see MacGregor going back to their roots. One of the greatest equipment companies there has been. The irons look superb and great to see the president taking time out to post and answer queries on here. Top Class.

Great to see Macgregor making some serious players irons again, but in my world, they will NOT be on top of my wish list for several reasons:

1. Don't like shiny chrome at all

2. Why 1025 carbon steel and not 1020 carbon steel ?

3. PW looks a bit too round for my taste

Would like to know WHO forged them and who did the finish on them.

Will 1025 vs 1020 make that big a difference? Mizuno uses 1025 and they are the best feeling irons I've ever hit. I agree the short iron is a little rounded for my tastes but I'll pass judgement after I see them.
