Best acquisitions of the year

I’m an iron junkie. I have had more sets than I can count, but honestly these Srixon Z785 irons are something else. Great looks, perfect spin, workable, and plenty forgiving. This may be the end of my iron search (kind of sad). Oh, and the Epic Flash Subzero TD is the real deal. Great driver.

I told myself coming into this season that I wasn't going to make any major additions to the bag....That didn't last long. I ordered a set of Miura 1957 CBs back in June and could not be happier with the purchase. I always liked the feel of Miuras but thought of them as being a little to much of a players club. A club fitter might put me into something a little more forgiving, but I love the look at address and love the feel. My iron play has been some of the best its ever been since putting these in play

TaylorMade GAPR Mid 3 iron. Surprisingly long and interchangeable with my 5 wood depending on the course setup.

Of all that's come and gone through the year - I'd say the BEST thing I've picked up has been the Scotty Phantom X 8. I've never putted as well as I have been with that bad boy.

 

A close second would be my TS2 5W. Never carried a 5W before but at this point, it's easily my favorite and most reliable club in the bag.

Finally got a new driver after 10 years. G400 has given me a few extra yards but more importantly--a lot more consistency. Took me a couple rounds to adjust but now my average drives are similar to what my best drives used to be. Plus, my misses have never been better! Hitting it longer while finding more fairways has been fun this summer.

 

Also, committing to playing a single type of ball (Srixon XV) has helped too. More consistent results on spin, flight, etc. on irons and wedges. Knowing how my ball's going to react on different shots definitely promotes a sense of confidence.

First year I’ve tried the gripmaster grips. Wow, what a game changer, can’t slip with them and feel so much more in control of the face. Super tacky, wish I tried them years ago.

100% agreement... TS4 is awesome! I feel it is similar to TM SLDR & the old TM SuperDeep in that when it's hit on the screws, there's nothing like it. I took it out this weekend for a round with my neighbor (who does not play much), just for S&G's, and I was beyond shocked how great it it... sound/feel, and really long. I chose a great day to give it a full round test I guess. Based on what I saw, bad swings are seriously punished though... more so than the M5 Tour that I currently love (still lust for?). EFSZ Triple Diamond wins on the bad swings without a doubt. I just wish I knew what type of day was coming before teeing it up. I don't think there is a better looking driver than TS4 out there though. Perfection in that department!

Spider putter........I swore to myself up and down I was going to play the scotty till the end, missed two short puts to finish out 17 and 18 and abandoned it on the spot, ordered a spider when I got home and be using it since.

Ts2 10.5 driver. I’ve never been more consistent or confident with a driver.

Ping g410 5 wood. Brilliant off the tee or deck.

Scotty Cameron Studio Style Newport 1.5 34/340g - the putter balance is just perfect for me.

Rogue 3W, G410 hybrid, i210’s, BB1... love them all, but none have made a difference in my hdcp. Still hovering around a 7. Wish I had more time to practice. I’m sure I’ll try to buy a better game again next year.

Just got a Flash SZ with an ADDI to try and beat my current M3. Haven’t bought a new driver in 2+ years since the M3 was a replacement for the M1 430 I cracked. I think it was time...HA!

Just bought a G400 LST and haven't had a chance to use it. It's replacing a 915 D3 whose shaft, Tour AD MJ 6x, met a strange and unfortunate end. I really liked the Titleist, but the Ping is a definite upgrade. That said, the 22' Mizuno CLK hybrid is the one. I now have a club I can use on tight par 4s and into longer par 5s. So far, it's been automatic. 210-225.
