Lol. Standard weekend/holiday rate for Harborside is $109. GolfNow has a wonderful Hot Deal for this Monday. Maybe it should be a Flaming Garbage Dump Deal.

Lol. 'Hate to see it when it was in rough shape.

I forgot to mention that the course is another of the few in the area with back to back par 3's (10/11) and par 5's (16/17).

Add Calumet to the list if it hasn't already been mentioned. Holes 15 and 16 are back to back par 5's.

Thinking about checking out Prairie Landing next week. I've never played there... is it worth trying to get out there?

Yes, definitely worth the trip. I'd put it easily in the Top 10 area courses. Love the practice facility, including the two short par 4s.

Anyone ever play Harrison Hills in Indiana? Playing there Saturday morning.

Yes, a few years ago. The front nine after the first few holes is rather mundane. Looks like the original course was expanded by adding a few holes in a corn field. Straight and flat.

However, the back nine is pretty nice with rolling hills and a few hazards. I'd say it's worth a visit.

I have three photos from my Ohio trip (last three):

Cool thanks. It looks decent. Golfweek has it at like 5 or 6 I think for courses in Indiana, which from the pics I have seen is kind of surprising. $45 bucks to play on Saturday morning isn't too bad though.

Yeah, the Golfweek rating was definitely on the high side. I don't think it's in the same class as Brickyard, French Lick, Purgatory, Birck, The Fort, Bear Slide, Chariot Run, or Prairie View.

Golfweek tends to love "golden age" courses and always boost them up a little more. Anything by Langford is going to be overrated. (see Lawsonia Links over Erin Hills)

I found my trip report. At the time I said this about the course:

"The course is ranked #10 on Golfweek's Best-in-State that you can play list, and frankly, I don't see it. The course is nice, but it's not top ten material. It's a rolling, tree lined course, but holes 4 through 8 basically run through farmland. The other holes are somewhat picturesque, but nothing to write home about. The course conditions were a bit spotty, with dry turf and weeds off the fairways. The fairways were green, but spongy. The greens were in nice shape, but oh. so. slow. "

Maple Meadows was very enjoyable yesterday.  Greens rolled true which was big plus after some of the courses I have played recently.  I definitely see where @Argonne69 is coming from, this just plays harder for me compared to Oak Meadows.  Two par 4's were GPS'd at 470 yards and one has an extremely narrow tee shot (Hole 15).  Hole 3 is hope and pray you get through the chute.  Just keeping your drive in play on #6 and #8 is a challenge.   Oak Meadows starts off with two birdie holes in the first four holes and never really has a stressful tee shot other than #9.

That being said, that was the toughest conditions I played in this year.  Wind gusts up to 20mph made it extremely difficult.  Started with a 36 and finished with a 42.  Unfortunately I can't blame the wind for my play on the back.  By the way, how do Oak Meadows and Maple Meadows have the best tap list of any golf course around?  Awesome craft beer on tap...

The picture of the skyline at Harborside gets me every time. That's good photoshop. You'd swear the course was a few miles from the loop and not almost in Indiana.

Mostly pleasant day at Wilmette. Nice breeze to start the round, but it was really gusting the last few holes. Conditions were good. A few teeboxes were sanded, but otherwise the turf was fine. Greens looked great and were rolling 10 to 11. Really had to have a delicate touch on the downhill putts. Pace was OK at 4 hours, but the group had ahead of us was a hole behind by the 3rd hole and never got back into position.

Solid day ballstriking with 10 fairways and 12 greens. Two birdies and four bogies. Highlight of the day was my drive on the short par 4 15th. I usually hit less than driver, but with a generous tailwind I decided to go for it. The drive came up 10 yds short of the green, and it was a fairly simple up and down for birdie.

First trip out to Waters Edge in years scheduled for tomorrow morning. I booked a Golf Now Hot Deal, as the course doesn't allow singles to book on their website. The big question is whether they'll allow me to walk. I've had several run ins with the course before regarding their walking policy. Hopefully they've loosened it given the lack of carts.

Well luckily you are playing waters edge since its been crazy dry lately otherwise if it sprinkles that place is flooded on half the holes. Havent played there this year but was not in great shape at the end of last year.

Yeah, conditions there have been crummy for years by all reports. Poor drainage, and generally poor maintenance practices since Billy Casper took over. I last played in April 2013, and it was a soggy mess then.

Played Bowes Creek today and Tuesday this week. A bit of a trek from the city, but loved the course. I’d never played it before and had only heard good things. Conditions were not perfect (divots and ball marks on greens), but very enjoyable and I loved the setup. Today’s round dragged a bit due to a group of dudes who insisted on playing from the tips (with no business doing so) in front of us. Oh well. Went 83/80. Had a birdie putt on 18 today that just missed the hole on the low side by an inch.

Got a chance to play the jewel of Lockport - no, not Big Run - the one and only Lockport Golf Club.  For those not familiar with the course, it’s a 9 hole private course, measuring whopping 2700+ yards from the “tips”.  Oh, boy.... where do I start???  The greens were running anywhere between 5 and 8 on the stimp,   The fairways were actually decent, but rough was probably faster then the greens.  The tee boxes?   Well - after a while I stopped using my “good” plastic tees, since on few occasions I was unable to pull them out, especially when using an iron off the tee.   We played the 9 twice from different set of tees - some holes are setup as par 4/5, between 350 and ~500.   I thought about joining it (equity memberships can be had for ~4-5k, with yearly fees running about $400 for a single, but in the end, I think I’ll pass.   Not a terrible place to go for a quick 9, but I think I’d rather do the RF $59 monthly Arcis Prime membership.
