Shiels' review was the first "saw it myself" review I got. Ballspeed increases can be seen from better strikes. Swing speed increases should be pretty straightforward. And shiels swings fast enough to see that...

Plus, dispersion in his review and what we saw from kapalua suggest these drivers may not be the bee's knees.

I was wondering how many other people saw the review from Rick! I actually tried to get my M5 back today but they already sent the head off and shortened the original shaft that I want to hang onto as a standby for my new Cobra driver coming. I was just going to keep M5 as an ole standby, but it’s gone my bad!

Rick hits The ball as good is anybody out there and after watching the tournament this weekend and watching which drivers were leading the tournament and watching the best players in the world hit those drivers, his review is 100% correct I would’ve felt no remorse keeping my M5 if I the waited a little longer

He's a terrible golfer that blames clubs for bad shots instead of his pathetic golf game. For the heck of it, I watched the SIM video to see if he's gotten any better. "I still hit a couple of snap hooks with the club in the fade setting" "as you can see with the weight all the way in the heel, I can still carve one all the way to the right". Total garbage.

So a tournament that was played in wind and rain by guys who for the most part haven’t played any golf in weeks and one of them (DJ) coming of surgery and the judgment is the driver isn’t that good ok. Thanks for that hot take.

How many people swing like Shiels for it to be even relevant to their swing and expects results.

The good thing about tournament play is that more than just TM guys are in the field. That mavrik was working for xander. We also saw a lot of good from reed off the tee and a lot of good from Thomas and cantlay.

I'm close to shiels in swingspeed. He plays a draw. I play a fade. You can tell a few things from his reviews. It appears the sliding weight in draw makes the club a lot more stable. That should be a given considering the driver weight (that's visible) is set to fade bias.

I will hit the driver. But I'll also hit the mavrik.

No one should be basing buying decisions on a YT review, especially Rick who is a trash golfer (shot 80's in a tourney as a so called PGA pro). He uses all stock options in his bag and in the tests and has never been optimized (might help is funny little draw AKA HUGE PULL HOOKS). this is why TXG is the best, they show you the potential of the head, not the crappy stock build from the factory.

The videos are titled "Initial Testing" so I assume there will be a full, in-depth review, but they were complimentary vs the previous gen. The SIM (standard version) seemed especially good over those handful of shots.

PGA Pro != great golfer. He’s just showing his numbers and providing input which is what he’s paid to do. 90% of the buyers will be using stock shafts so it makes sense to show the product in that form. I prefer videos from other channels as well but there’s still some value to be had from seeing the product, how it sounds, etc.

If Matt or Ian from TXG who are supposed to be scratch shot 80s in a tournament would it detract from their video(s)?

I don't base a buying decision on any reviews. They're part of the info gathering part of the buying process. Having seen shiels for years now, I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from his reviews. I like that he showed what happens with the sim weight in heel and toe. Confirms that the club is fade biased.

Buying is always based on my own testing. Usually on a simulator and then on course, head to head against my current gamer.

Yeah you’re not getting the hottest shaft on tour at Retail price from TM.

The ONLY TM club that looked impressive at Kap was Reeds M6 Tour Fairway. He was absolutely crushing that thing.

I take first day reviews - from anyone - with a grain of salt. I'll wait to see what the TXG guys come up with in their later reviews, IMO those guys are the gold standard for actual product review.

Shiels is what he is, he's a YouTuber with 700k subscribers. But that being said, I dont discount what he says just because its him saying it - he usually is pretty clear to point out the numbers and IMO its partially on the viewer to make the call from there. I think it was his review that pretty clearly said it was not an upgrade from the M5/6 but that its going to be an upgrade if you're playing a version prior to that.

IMO Rick cant win with people on WRX. If he comes out and loves the SIM, people blast him. If he comes out and hates it, he's blasted from the other side.
