Any new TM drivers in the works?

I know about the Evo 2.0. But from what I've read, the Evo 2.0 is basically an older Fuji shaft painted to look like the TM stock shaft at the time. If I remember correctly, it is an older Motore profile.

If you guys watch Trottie’s (from Taylormade) YouTube video when he visits Fujikura, doesn’t the Fuji employee say DJ’s version of the Ventus is over 300cpm? I will have to watch it again but I came away thinking he admits DJ’s shafts are one offs, which I would wager any day they have to be?

I’m guessing it may come out with the launch or a promo video, but it would be awesome for @Taylormadegolf to show actual comparison #’s for all the big names (DJ, Rors, Tiger etc.).

It's a Rombax weave shaft, Possibly based on a Tour Motore profile. But Motore's didn't use Rombax.

To the guy saying it's loose, IDK what you are talking about the thing is a 75+ gram board IMO.

Never intended to argue you with you guys! Just trying to share information that I got DIRECTLY FROM THE FUJI team when spending time with them at their event at the PGA show. They are good friends and never hide the ball about their products on tour.

You are CORRECT, it is an older profile that is similar to a Motore. Zero dispute there. But, why would Fuji want him playing a 7 year old paint job now? That isn't going to help sell Atmos, Pros, Pro 2.0s or Ventus. And, if you look at the shaft CLOSELY, it has distinct markings that say exactly what it is. There is one on ebay right now. You are also 100% right that it looks nearly identical to the Evolution that was stock.

Lastly, I did say it was loose IF NOT TIPPED. DJs Evo 2.0 AS PLAYED is an ANIMAL. I would never say something that dumb - that the shaft DJ plays AS PLAYED is loose. I owned it, played it UNTIPPED and it was not stout at all. Several other players of my speed tried it and said the exact same thing.

Lastly, that could totally be true that DJs Ventus is a one-off. But, it is a Ventus. JB Holmes played a Tour Spec that was not a catalog weight/flex which they eventually did release....this could be similar to that...

But, back to the topic at hand....I was just trying to help explain the old "paint job" mystery because I too was once confused by it. But, having a few beers with Fuji's tour staff and getting the explanation cleared that up.

I certainly don't have any insider knowledge, but wasn't the whole repainting thing true up to a point? I think it was mired in a few different things but there was the whole "Taylormade shaft graphics" period during the R7/R9/R11/R1/SLDR cycles and he certainly was not using a shaft with Speeder Evolution graphics then right? There was everything from TP TM graphics to Fujikura Fuel graphics, all while supposedly being the same shaft. Then at some point it settled on the Speeder Evolution graphics (2014-2015?). Now we all know, or at least assumed, that TM staffers had their own shafts underneath the TM TP graphics back in the day, but with DJ it seemed to extend to different Fuji graphics as well. Did the Fuji guys say anything about that?

If the Ventus Black isn’t in the bag he is playing the shaft I posted with a different paint scheme.

if is says 2.0 it will look just like what I posted in the butt section. He never played a Speeder Evo TS, remember that particular shaft wasn’t even made at the Fujikura Factory in Japan.

Oh yeah, i'm aware of that, I was just referring to the graphics on the top of this DJ "2.0" shaft during those times, which seem to have been many and varied up until the Speeder Evolution graphics that have been there the last several years. I definitely recognize that Rombax pattern, I have half a dozen Rombax 115i iron shafts that I like to use in long iron replacements.

I did not ask them about the different paint schemes way back in the day; I know what you are talking about though! I think that was more so all the shafts looked “the same” with the R series on TV. Not sure though....

As for DJs, it’s always been “his” shaft. And yes I believe it has “roots” in the Rombax lineage as stated above. There are a lot of threads about it on here. JDs Clubs, People’s have both sold it as well - as advertised as the DJ model.

I think the “painted” stuff started bc the shaft was VERY close looking to the stock one....the ONLY difference is it said 2.0 on it. You’d have to be looking very closely to see it and could never see it on TV. But, was always a different shaft, completely and I don’t believe any of that was done to fool anyone.

Another thing to remember is a lot of guys don’t like loud graphics. I know some of the old Motore and Rombax were yellow, loud, etc. it’s possible that years ago he asked for a more subtle paint job and they used the Evo scheme but simply added 2.0. I didn’t ask about that though!

Biggest thing that sucks about Kapalua as the launch event for the new line is that the course and conditions won't give any indication of driver performance...unless there's no wind all week.
