Any new TM drivers in the works?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure that is twist face 3.0....I mean honestly look at pics it seems like they put a spoiler on the bottom of the inertia engine......

Also if it's shallower than the M5/6 which were very shallow then I'll pass this gen gladly. I'm tired of the flat pancake TM drivers.

I have a feeling TM is going to do a total reworking of the top end of the bag in 2020 -- new drivers, fairways and hybrids, and probably a new version of the GAPR line. I also expect a new players forged set of irons, and hopefully a more reasonably priced consumer version of the TW blades.

It hits really good as well. I have not been a TM guy in a long time. Next year may change that. I was going into 2020 thinking it was going to be overall a down year in the driver market. Not because they were not going to try and innovate but simply that 2019 was such a good year. I thought it would be hard to top it this soon. After seeing and hitting almost all of the 2020 products, I am starting to walk back my statement. The Mav line is good. After spending a bit more time with it, I am shocked that it may be better than the flash in terms of ball speed. The SIM is good. I think they made some great improvements over the M6/M5 line. The cobra speedzone is great and I am looking forward to trying the Mizuno st200 drivers.

These companies are getting too good at making products.

That is kind of an ignorant thing to say until we see things like MOI and CG measurements, because those are the real meat of the driver performance. Just because it resembles the M6 doesn't mean that it is somehow guaranteed to perform the same/not be better. TM has a history of doing this; introducing a new design concept at the end of a line (M6) and then refining over the course of the next line (SIM). If the CG is further back and lower than the M6, which I can almost guarantee it will be, then it will on average launch higher, spin less, and be more forgiving on miss hits. That sounds like a win to me.

This is a great view. In car terms, I think the SIM MAX looks like a 1987 Ford Mustang and the SIM looks like a 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback.

I wonder what the rear weight and front weight weigh. I can see adding or subtracting weight to influence launch/spin.

I'm gonna guess that front weight weighs 15g and the back probably 50ish...

M6 had a 46g weight in the back. I assume they got a bit more out of the design to get heavier back there....but could be less if the frame is heavy enough that they don't need 50g back there.

15g front weight is a guess based on past weights and stuff from wishon about how much weight it takes to move CoG. That front weight likely serves 2 purposes

1. Change gear effect for fade/draw bias

2. Help lower spin

Yikes. The sole is hideous. Not a fan of the protruding piece when the club is grounded but hey...if it goes forever and straight then who cares what it looks like

The GAPR sales were anemic. Look for something more tradional.

I believe those jabronies. I said that when I moved to m4. I self fit into the 16 m2. Had a fitting (and knew a lot more about launch and spin) for the m4 and did hit it past where drives with the m2 left me. I play 2 primary courses all year so I know what's longer. I moved to m5 only after hitting it side by side m4 on every hole where driver could be hit. M5 was longer and straighter even though it was slower. I fully expect sim to be longer than m5. It just has to be as straight. M5 is super, super easy.
