This might be the first time I've ever disagreed with you, Money! Granted, we are both just speculating.

I would be VERY surprised if you see TW in the SIM line right away. He had an unbelievable year once he finally settled into his TM bag and he's making a push to make the Olympic team. He's been known to go back one or even 2 generations with his woods. (5 wood is still M3). Pretty sure he was playing the Covert when two new models had been released. That's one of my favorite things about the GOAT. He gets crazy loyal to his gear once it starts working....

That being said, you could be right! He's been WAY more of a gear dork (a compliment) in this renaissance period of his career. He seems to always be checking out what other guys are using on tour, now. I don't remember that at all growing up. And, now that he has nothing to prove, maybe he will throw the SIM in and test it out.

Looks like we will find out at Torrey, anyhow!

PS - excited for the SIM. TM woods are like a good PB&J sandwich....always good. Any time, anywhere.

+1 for Ben @ The Tour Van. He's the man. Not to mention it's pretty well known if you talk to any golf shop to not expect anything custom from TM to be close to on spec. Love their product, just built by somebody else :)

I had my rotator cuff surgery this morning. And the rotator cuff was not torn. (Truly believe I was healed) All they had to do was remove bone spur and clean it up. I’ll be back a lot sooner than I thought, and I’ll be getting the SIM driver for sure.. Can’t wait for it.

That’s good to hear, I had my rotator cuff repaired but what happen with me was I had a herniated disc in my neck and the neurologist said that I went about it the right way fixing the herniated disc in my neck first, a lot of people he said will assume it’s a rotator cuff right away and it could be a herniated disc in the neck that causes the same type of pain, so he said most people should have their neck checked out Before the shoulder, save some extra surgery I guess LOL

Question guys, the 8° driver, are you looking for less spin because of the lower loft or just a lower ball flight? I mean I have a 8 1/2° older ping driver and it’s one of the highest launching drivers I’ve had so who would you recommend an 8° driver someone with 110 mile an hour plus swing speed or just somebody that’s looking for lower spend lower launch just curious?

It's all about your impact conditions. For me, I launch it high with a high AoA, but I still struggle to reduce spin at times. Lowering the loft a little is what I need, so I'm interested in the 8 degree head. I was able to hit both and liked the 8 a lot.

I would be shocked if it's NOT in Rory's bag. A few years back, Rory sort of implied during a press conference that his contract required him to play the newest driver. In his case, that required change has only helped him; he's the best driver on the golf ball, possibly ever. Because TM consistently improves upon their drivers, I am sure he has full confidence going to it.

My guess is you will see it in the bag come his first event.

All of the pros have been measured and hitting the driver for weeks already if not longer. They’re specs are more than likely already locked in and have been for some time. They’ll always adjust depending what they want to see at each new course with different weather conditions. Nothing shocking here.

now, if they wanna stay with m5 or 6 and their contract allows it then fine. It might just take a little more time for TM to influence them.

With how exacting Wade Liles is with his builds and how heads are spec’d out, I have zero doubt all TM’s big name guys will have a SIM woods in the bag. I would expect some super high detailed fitting sessions would have occurred in preparation gaming the new gear.

Agree! The TM guys are so good - Trott and Wade.....

Also, the Hawaii swing for the "big boys" I think is really about getting warmed up for the season.... most of these guys don't NEED to win. Sure they want to, but, it's the perfect place/time/part of the season to try new gear out. Once the Players and the Masters start creeping in, guys have had plenty of time to work into the new stuff (or go back old stuff for Augusta). My guess is SIMs will be everywhere this week. I know Matt Wolff has the SIM with the Tensei Pro Orange.

It is the Ventus Black.

He still keeps the Evolution 2.0 in the bag. It's not really "painted" like anything. It's simply a non-catalog shaft that he is obsessed with (and for good reason). Fuji sold it through select vendors over the last couple of years. I (and many others) have owned it and it's surprisingly loose.....bear in mind DJ tips it 1.5 inches.... Because it's not a stock shaft, people think it's painted. But, it's not really. If you really want that that shaft, you can find it. DJ has used the Evo 2.0 shaft as recently as the Presidents Cup.
