What style of bag do you prefer if you push more than carrying or riding?

Was just thinking about this today. After purchasing a push cart I push almost every round unless I'm playing with my dad or someone who prefers to ride. I like the additional storage of my cart bag with my push cart, however when I just practice I am either left with setting up the pushcart for it to rest on or letting lay on the ground. At the same time, I don't mind carrying, but there are somedays where I would rather carry than push, but I know storage is more limited and my back will be a swamp afterwards. Rather than get to specific as to how much I push vs. walk vs. carry, what is the preferred bag for those of you who primarily push but aren't opposed to carrying or riding?

I have a mid sized stand bag (SM 4.5) and it works the best all around. I did find that ClicGear carts don't get along very well with the Sun Mountain bottom but switching to a Bag Boy Quad has made a huge difference. It's a perfect setup!

I almost never play without using my Sun Mountain Speed Cart.

I have an older model (2015 maybe?) Titleist Lightweight stand bag that fits perfectly and is nice and roomy for my clubs without being nearly as bulky to store and handle as a cart bag or "staff" bag. Great all-arounder and once in a great while when I walk nine holes it's a good carry bag, as well.

Like most things in life, there's a tradeoff.

Used to be, multipurpose stadiums were the rage. But they weren't "great" for either football or baseball. Now we have single purpose stadiums.

Bottom line, any hybrid bag you buy won't be optimized for either cart use or carry.

Gift ideas?  Products I have tested.

I have a ClicGear 3.5 with the tour bag kit and a 2017 Ping Pioneer. I also have a Ping Hoofer that I use when I go to the range, take a lesson or carry for a round. I keep a set of "essentials" in both bags (only difference is that there are more of everything in the Pioneer). There are a few items that I'll transfer from the Pioneer to the Hoofer when I walk (GPS, sunglasses). There are some "nice to have's" that I'll put in the Pioneer that would never go into the Hoofer.

miller was a newcomer I think started in the 80's? , Burton, HotZ, TuffHorse, MacG, popular back then. As a 135 lb kid caddy, I was not a fan of Burton very heavy, only worse were Hagen/Wilson Staff bags, with very thin straps. And all leather bags: Spalding had one with an S sewn on the side, it was nice looking though.

I haven't had any problems due to the lack of full length dividers. With the tour bag kit, the bag sits pretty vertical. So, it's probably not as much of an issue if the bag were sitting in the standard position. I haven't played in a heavy rain since getting the ClicGear (just got it in August). But, during the couple occurrences of light rain that I've played in, I use the umbrella holder (the optional one, I bought the cart open box and the standard holder was missing) and an umbrella to keep the bag dry.

I have Clic Gear and just use a standard stand bag. I carry and use the push cart, depending on where I'm at and whether I drag my push cart around.

I currently a Srixon (I think) Z85 bag, that has a 4 way top and does not have full length dividers. In the rain with the Clic Gear, I just use the umbrella holder and have no issues.

Standard carry bag like a sun mountai 4.5 or 5.5 is fine honestly. Is it not the perfect fit like push cart specific bags? Of course not. But it fits and works like 95% as good, and it can still be put in a riding cart no issue, can carry no issue and has the stand so you can go to the range and other practice areas with ease.

Unless you have a caddie to hold your bag upright for you (or you don't mind laying it on the ground) I don't see the point of not having a stand bag.

For the last 3 years I bought a different bag. None have been perfect. I almost always use a push cart. Last year I went with a sun mountain 14 slot cart bag which was fine until I got a new car and it didn’t fit easily in the trunk with the cart. So I bought a 4.5 titalist water proof carry bag which is ok for fitting in the car trunk but the water bottle slot is too small for the water bottle and it really doesn’t fit all that well on the push cart and shifts around. I only have 13 clubs but they don’t pull out all that great. I did carry it for 18 holes and it was light for that but I don’t think I will ever carry it for 18 holes again. Still looking for the perfect push cart bag.

I'd say PING Hoofer or Sun Mountain 3.5/4.5 would be the best bet for an all arounder. I've never used a push cart, but have read about Sun Mountain bottom not fitting well on some, so maybe the nod goes to the Hoofer.

Even with a push cart, I still prefer a stand bag for the convenience when at the range/practice areas and I still prefer to carry for most quick 9 hole rounds.

For push carts, I am a big fan of any bag with a flat bottom and no external “foot”/stand mechanism.

I have a TM Flextech (2018 model) and a Costco CaddyTek push cart and it honestly seems like they were made to go together. The legs on the bag almost “snap” into the upper cradle arm on the cart and hold the bag in perfect position. It’s such a good fit I probably could get by without even using the straps.
