Anyone who has hit both, how do they compare? Is the t100 significantly more forgiving?

I just did this 2 days ago with various shafts. You will find 620CB to be significantly shorter compared to T100. Feel wise, I personally preferred T100 surprisingly which also inspired more confidence. I will be ordering T100 5 to PW with Project X 6.0. Thinking about U500 for 4 iron.

I wonder why T100 is longer. If it’s the thinner face, that isn’t great news in terms of consistency. It’s the most played iron on tour though so the face can’t be that “hot”.

I don't know where you are getting the idea that longer equals inconsistent... I was consistently getting 145 meters on T100 whereas the same swing strike only got me 130 meterd consistently on the CBs. Both 7 irons.

This is more in line with what I’d expect. Might go with cb on looks alone, the t100 are damn ugly.

One reason is lofts are different with the two...I know Titleist Qc is very top notch...but if the fitting heads are slightly different then they are supposed to you could get a significant difference...also the strike makes a difference I seen people test both in front of me where one guy hit them similar and next guy wasn’t close....they were both low handicap guys..yes shaft and spin can make a difference as well. End of the day you have to play what you have confidence in from a look and feel perspective

CB's are slightly smaller and less forgiving but feel softer. T100 is the better all around option and preferred on tour over the CB's.

Ugly at address or when looking at the back of the club? Last time I checked I didn’t hit the ball with the back of the club .....

T100 will likely be the most played iron on tour so I think that'll speak for itself. They are about as consistent an iron as you'll find outside of an MB and tour pros don't seem to have inconsistency with them so it must be operator induced. T100 are also 1 deg stronger and spin less so are a longer club, also considerably more forgiving. If you really don't like the look of T100 in person then go for CBs otherwise the T100s are as good as you're going to find in that category for an iron. And I will admit I hated the T100 pictures when I first saw them but actually really love the look in person.

From the back, so you make a good point. If they’re a performance upgrade over the cb I wouldn’t mind but if it’s a toss up I’m obviously taking the non-ugly club.

Go and try it out yourself. You will notice the difference. CB is very similar to MB in terms of distance and performance. T100 is different category compared to those 2 imo.

My experience, as well as the experience of others on this site, is that the T100’s are no more forgiving than the CB’s.

And they are less forgiving than the 718 AP2’s.

If forgiveness is elevating the ball on miss strikes, the CB does the job. I didn’t love the new CB though. Hit it in my fitting a bunch back to back with the MP20 Mb and found the Mizuno to be as forgiving and much better feeling.

I currently play the CB 712 and i love the look of the new CB. IM so glad to read your post because i need some help now and really like the look at address of the T100. > @hypergolf said:

On the forgiveness point, anyone have any ideas when the Maltby Playability results will be posted? It’s not something that I had used much before now but taken an interest in the last couple of weeks and it would be interesting to see how the T100 shaped up compared to the AP2 and the previous versions.

ive seen many T100 fittings vs the MB's and CB's and the numbers presented tell a different story with dispersion, ball speed and distance. > @texcrom said:

I actually did hit both. I went to Cool Clubs set on T100's as I've been playing 718AP2s and felt I needed a different shaft (but didn't want to change things up too much). We settled on a shaft and then decided to try the 620CBs. Dispersion tightened up immediately. I ended up purchasing the 620CBs over the T100s - which was surprising. I confirmed may findings at two different fitters.

Interesting topic. I am still not understanding how can I have much more ball speed and distance with the MP-20s MBs than with the T-100, by about 15-18 yards (same shaft in both). I had to go through 3 diff fittings just to confirm and each time it was 100% this, even when hit dead flush with the T-100. I wonder if I had gotten to try the 620 CB or MB, if they would also provide me with similar numbers as the MP-20 mbs (I am a lefty, so my pro shop didnt have the 620 in lefties of course). I am now waiting for my MP-20s SEL to come. If I recall correctly, something similar occured some years ago with the AP2s vs other blades/ players irons, there must be something in the AP2/T-100 that doesnt fit my swing?

Opposite for me. I went in set on the CB for looks but after hitting, the CB's felt really clicky and the T100's felt much "smoother." i guess ymmv

This is always my problem...I am always scared of change when i know something has been successful.......I'm almost biased against all these "hot irons" vs a more traditional piece of steel. I am an idiot like that> @cardoustie said:
