Ventus blue vs ventus black

I actually just googled that and yeah, they do have a made for! Probably the exact same shaft.

Funny thing is - TEE actually calls it a 'Ventus 4T' whereas Taylormade just calls it a 'Ventus' knowing dang well what theyre doing and its not a real Ventus.

Here is the post from Fuji on the differences:https://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/1789613/the-new-ventus-black/p14

”The STOCK shafts used in the new TaylorMade products is a Ventus part without VeloCore Technology (no Pitch 70 ton or 40 ton in the bias core) that we worked in conjunction with TM to optimize the performance for a wide range of golfers. Please refer to TaylorMade for specs.

note: TaylorMade is the ONLY company offering ventus without VeloCore as their stock shaft. And their custom upgrade shafts are the aftermarket versions, hence the upcharge. So if you see a ventus part at another OEM it is our aftermarket part with VeloCore and carries a $350 MSRP. the only exception is Tour Edge has a Ventus with "4T Core" which is same construction as VeloCore, but without the $$$ Pitch 70T material. 4T core is all high-mod 40 Ton in the full length bias core."

Okay - so they're basically saying the TM version of the shaft is NOTHING like the actual Ventus (more like a standard shaft structurally speaking) and that the TEE version is actually closer to the real Ventus just with 40T subbed in for the 70T in the same material wrap/bias/construction?

@third-times-a-charm I hadn't looked at 'made for' in quite awhile. I checked TMs site and in Custom it shows Ventus Blue S & X with more torque and Blue S has slightly different weight. Yep, "Made for." Not that it's bad, bet that isn't the Ventus shaft tour guys are playing. It doesn't appear they offer the Ventus Red.@storm319 - I checked TEE and you're correct as well. There's a big difference between Aftermarket and 'made for' in their offering, especially in torque. Jumps from aftermarket 3.5 to 4.4.
TEE offers TENSEI Orange. TENSEI and Ventus aftermarket are $350 plus; no way either company could offer them and keep their Driver price within reason, so I understand the motivation behind 'made for. To the untrained eye or average consumer, 'made for' appears the same but is NOT. Least there doesn't appear to much of an upcharge, if any. For average Joe golfer, 'made for' makes sense.

Have been a Blue 6s guy for a while and picked up a black 7s on a whim recently. All in a SIM Max 9degree at standard.

Tested both black, blue, and a GD-AD-IZ at the range, and the blue seemed the longest and best feeling for me by quite a bit. The black was a bit boardy, and just didn't really seem to contribute much. It was certainly stable, but just didn't really seem to load. That said, the dispersion on both were better for me than the AD-IZ.

Took the black out for a round today, and while it was the same story from a distance perspective (definitely shorter for me than the blue by maybe 15 yards), the consistency was impressive. I definitely get the 'point and shoot' comments folks have made. The ball just didn't seem to come off quite as hot.

I may tinker a bit more to try to get a few more yards out of it as the confidence it brings is really nice. It's just so tough to only be a few yards in front of my friends, when the blue gives me maybe 20. :D

@gzi888 - NO, not IMO.
Ventus Blue is designed for one type player, Black another. Red and Black are more similar than different. Blue has a slightly softer handle feel as opposed to Black handle being more stout like my Ventus Red profile which has a more stout handle, only just a stiff tip section. Black profile has a more stout tip section. Check out the shaft data here: Ventus | Fujikura Golf

i don’t understand some of the comments. Essentially if the shaft graphics don’t have Velocore toward the tip it is the non-velocore version. So the blue velocore shafts are the real deal. What am I missing?

I tried the black 6X and found it very stout. I currently play a Tensei Pro Orange 60x. Which ventus shaft is comparable to that shaft?

You're not missing anything. The "real" version has the Velocore text, the cheaper versions do not.

None of the Ventus shafts are really comparable to the Orange, which is a very soft butted, linear shaft with a high balance point. None of the Ventus shafts are really comparable. The Black is the closest, but it is stiffer throughout most of the shaft, specifically in the butt section.

No -

Originally when the ventus was released ALL shafts said 'velocore' by the tip cuz they were all $350 aftermarket shafts.

Since Taylormade launched the SIM line - they got fuji to make a fake ventus version for their OEM clubs - which DO NOT say velocore on them and are different shafts, just with ventus paint on them, but no velocore.

So now, you have to navigate the ventus market carefully.

Interesting, i never thought of the Red and Black have similarities in profile. I play the Red, but curious, maybe the Blue would work well for me too? I tend to be low launch, not sure if the Blue would become too low launch.

I am likely much older than you and enjoying the added distance I get with Ventus Red, 245-250+ and 70yrs old.  Prior to Red, I was playing Project X HZRDUS Red 6.0, difference in feel and down range is amazing.  I have always went for stiff handles in woods and iron shafts.  Typically Red shaft versions have been for people that needed help getting the ball airborne.  That isn't the case with Ventus Red though it may provide that, when I go after it I get the added distance not so much a high trajectory though, more mid which is what I am accustom to.  But like anything else they cost more, as they should.  Good luck

I am younger, but not a big hitter. If I am being honest with myself, my driving average is in the same distance range as you. When I am having a good driving day, I can get the ball out there 260 (total). I also have been experiencing more of a "mid" flight with the Ventus Red.

I would second this. I tried the blue and did not like it, but the black is money for me. But I always fit better into the "black" profiles whether it be Atmos, Tensei, etc. I have a quick temp and quick transition so something more stable always helps me. I do think there is something to the Ventus as I tend to find the center more often. This coming from a Kuro Kage XD.

How close was this to your XD , what where some of the differences

THIS....

I'm surprised guys don't consider the RED Ventus.  With the correct tipping, its probably a complete beast.  The larger, firmer handle is nice for my transition.

I had a 7X tipped one inch in a Cally Mav SZ and it was fantastic.

"Complete beast" I like that... 👍

It's the newest of the lot.  Also there may be a preconceived idea "Red" in any shaft has an active tip section.  Couldn't be further from the truth.  It's a bit more active than other shafts but just enough in my hitter type hands, I get more distance.  Handle be still....

Reviving this as I am in a bit of a search mode for a driver shaft. Been gaming black but find it’s not maximizing carry, and often times I have to swing way to hard to get the loading sensation. Have also been gaming the red in my fairways and it’s a beast. 3 wood I feel like is maximized and 5 wood lands steep but carries a good bit. For driver should I try blue, or go with red?  The blue during my indoor fitting wa hard to time, and the black really stood out as being straight with roll out. On course it seems to be mixed bag of trying to make it fit. Recently popped in a LAGP AXS Red and it’s like a tighter AD DI, but seems to launch and spin a little too much.
