Dings/Dents from bending machine

Is it possible to buff these out or anything to make them look better?

No, but some cold smithing with a small hammer and a fresh up of the original brushed finish when done, but NEVER grind on in.

To much clamping pressure is the problem, and possible "unfriendly' clamps.

Seems like lie angle was bended upright judged by those clamping marks

No. Bought these as is and got a little deal on them. Brand new and bent 1* upright. I’ll want to get them bent back to standard. Couldn’t complain due to the deal. But was wondering if anything I could do. In person they don’t look quite as severe. But I’d still like it gone or better if possible

Take Howard Jones advice. He has a tutorial with pictures on here somewhere. Works great but you probably should practice on a junker forged iron first.

I would be in jail for murder if that was done to my irons much less my Miura irons.. WTF?!!!!

 

And yes, a lot of very small taps with a smooth hammer will get the material back to where it belongs. Patience and accurate strikes will clean that up easily.

Anyone can do it. Use a small and light hammer with a "clean face".

RULE #1 - NEVER GRIND ON IT.

Take your time, the club head in one hand, the hammer in the other

MANY SMALL TAPS - NO USE OF FORCE

Study where the metal has been moved, and slowly by many small gentle taps, move it back where it came from.

Done right, we can often make it without any damage to the chrome plating.

Scotts brite to restore brush finish ONE DIRECTION ONLY - heel to toe. (no circular movements)-

Autosole chrome polish for blank chrome heads as last finish.

Howard is downplaying the skill involved to remove the dent. Be sure to practice as suggested before having a go at those Miura's.

Those marks were most likely not caused by a bending machine, unless the clamp has a serious gauge in it, to cause more force in one spot. I think something else hit the top lines...and it doesn't take much, with how soft those are

Is it possible that when the person put the irons back in the golf bag the top of the iron hit the irons next to them?

They're tools. They will get dinged.

They are brand new. Never hit. The guy I bought them from bent them and dinged them up

Ok, I am the one that bent them...and they were my own clubs! I was using those Mitchell aluminum shims you can put on the clamp head, and I think that got out of whack and caused issues. DIdn't realize until I had bent a few. Was so mad at myself, sold them for a smoking deal to OP. I have bent 30+ sets without issue....then went and got "careful" with the shim and caused the issue :)

Ouch! That sucks bk12, I used Howards method on some old wedges and was quite surprised how well they came out. Like Howard said patience and very light tapping.

A shim is used to take up extra space, not to help "protect" anything. If you want extra protection for top-lines, something like Gorilla tape works well. A piece of leather works well to protect soles

I guess I misspoke, they are not called shims, that is the slang I used to refer to it. They are actually called "Mitchell Golf Top Clamp Aluminum Pad (Pack of 5) For Angle Machines" Description is "Use with STEELCLUB® Angle Machine and TourGauge® Angle Machine to protect the top line on irons that have a soft chrome or mirror finish." Not blaming the product, but I can say that I screwed up using these after never leaving a mark....again, that is what I get for trying to be too careful!

I have a complete golf shaft analysis, bending and measuring equipment setup, been building clubs for over 25 years. I just work on my own now, which I truly enjoy. I wish I knew more than a few people I could trust to build with a level of detail that I put to my own work (yes, ironic that I am saying this in a thread that involved me bungholing some beautiful Miuras!).

I’m sure you do good work. My comment was more for the person you sold them to. Based on my

limited skills in club making, fixing those dings is not something that I would do.
