Shot Scope V3

Recommended Posts

Are you wearing it on your left wrist (if you're a right handed golfer) and also wearing it somewhat close to your hand? It has to be pretty close to the actual tag on the club but I don't think tightness matters.

Keep it where it is and start sending the data out for Long Drive sponsorships.

I have big fat wrists, so I'm pretty close to the last notch on the strap. I haven't played with the v3 yet, but with the v2 I wear it a bit above my wrist bone and never had an issue with it reading shots.

Actually, the V2 has a handedness setting (i.e., right- or left-handed golfer). The default setting is for a right-handed golfer; here's how to change the setting for the V2: How do you change the watch settings from right handed to left handed?I know you said that you had no issues with your V2, but perhaps the V3 is more sensitive to having the correct handedness setting. I would expect that the V3 handedness setting could be changed in a similar manner as the V2.

Most of time a missed shot is from lack of practice swing. My understanding is you wake the unit up when you take practice swings. When I first got the V-2 it missed every putt that I hit and after consulting with Shot scope they said my lack of a practice stroke is what caused these issues as I do not take practice stroke with my putter. After this I switched to manual putt option and have not had any issues. I have been super impressed with how accurate it is. Also takes about 10 rounds or more to get your averages with all clubs, I have 40 to 50 rounds on mine and still have skewed #'s on couple of clubs.

How long were your rounds? I've found their 10 hour quote to be about right in my usage and that should be plenty for 36 holes. I'm pretty impressed it can last that long, actually.

I played my first round with my V3 yesterday. I was down to 66% when I got home and stuck it on the charger after a 3 hour round. Lots of times batteries get a little better after their first few drains and recharges. I had just charged it to 100% prior to the round after receiving it in the mail. I'm really impressed with how compact it is compared to the V2. It's actually smaller than my everyday Android Wear watch. Very comfortable and light to wear. Great upgrade.

If people aren't changing it anyway it would still show the data that the watch collected and they could STILL put the data the watch downloads into more specific putting stats regardless if I did it manually or they let the watch do it. If the watch is wrong, those people aren't changing it anyway, so what difference do those people make.

I just feel they have this data, regardless if I make mine perfect or someone just trusts the watch, they could really drill down into the stats for people that really want to know exactly how they are doing. No reason not to.

Here's my mini review:

The new shot scope is an update to the V2 model. It's sleeker, slimmer, and has a much better look to it. The battery is very good. I don't think I can get 2 full rounds out of it, but def 27 holes and maybe pushing it to the 36 number. The V2 could get 18, but 27 was pushing it and I never came close to 36 in a single session. They say that the tags are updated for better performance but I didn't notice a difference, actually I noticed that the watch missed more shots with the V3 than with the V2.

The GPS took a very long time to update the first time I played. Roughly 3 minutes. I am glad I turned it on when I did instead of when I got to the Tee box (like I have to with the V2 to get the most battery out of it). Now I did have the L1 + L5 setting on to maximize GPS (although I don't think there are many L5 sats in the sky that are usable right now according to other readings I have found). So the battery probably drained a little more than if I had it on just the L1 setting.

Some things I like about the new V3 watch

Much better battery life

Color

See in bright sun

Doesn't cause me to sweat as much

Sleeker looking

All Black design with no other color (old watch had a red border around it)

Charges WAY faster

Some things I don't like about the new watch

Proprietary charging cable

Smaller watch (this is opposite of most, I LIKE bigger watches)

Buttons, I really liked the old rounded buttons and they FELT better. They were metal (or metal feeling) the new ones are plastic

Feels flimsy (again I like the bigger watch)

Less accurate so far after 1 round

Middle yardage number is bigger and in the middle of the watch face

Have to pair it with your phone to sync rounds

GPS takes way longer to get started

Things I like about the V2 watch better

It's bigger (I like that)

Buttons are more solid

Syncs with dashboard on my computer, I much rather not pair it with my phone..

More buttons on the watch for functions

Hope that helps some people.. I don't think the there is any added functionality right now (if we had L5 sats then maybe it would be more accurate, but we don't) It's just the watch is smaller and lasts longer.. so not sure I really needed the new version.

Not sure what's going on with your battery life. I've played enough with it that I'd be shocked if I didn't get 36 holes in on one charge. I did enable the L1+L5 and haven't noticed a huge difference. I played a 4.5 hour round the other day and had well over 50% left. Also I have already played 36 with it and those rounds came to about 8 hours total and I still had battery left and I didn't even have to worry about shutting it down while I ate lunch in between.

Not sure either.. I guess I need to drain the battery and then recharge a few times. I just know what happened the first time I played. It was roughly 4hrs and 40 minutes, so not insanely long, but also not a 4 hr round either.

I will be able to test it again I hope this weekend, just hurt my wrist hitting off indoor mats.. ugh

What was everyone's time frame from when they ordered the watch earlier this month. I ordered my watch on Jun 12, then received an email it was shipped on a week later on Jun 19. The DHL Tracking has said EN ROUTE TO DHL ECOMMERCE DISTRIBUTION CENTER since that Friday with no update. I don't have much experience with DHL and I understand the virus situation, but I've used fedex and UPS recently and everything shipped promptly.

It most definitely charges way faster. The V2 was the slowest charging device I think I've ever had.

I don't know of a way to denote that but it automatically shows an average for your clubs along with a performance average. I always look at the performance average as I believe it removes some of those low outliers.

How long did it take to get to the DHL site? Mine has been "en route" for a week now.

Played my first 9 with the v3. I didn't have any problems with missed shots... In fact, I had the opposite. Around the greens, it was tracking my practice swings as shots. I had to delete 4 wedge shots in 9 holes. I usually take a practice swing behind the ball with a decent amount of ground contact to feel the bounce. It was registering that as a shot I think.

I never had that problem with the v2. The v3 is better across the board, but if I can't figure out why it's picking up so many extra shots, that might be a deal breaker.
