I would say this was the right call.

i was a bit off with iron play yesterday, and used this 7 times from 30 yds in, up and down 7/7, this is like freakin magic, spin is just better than my T7.

MD5 are sweet

But therein lies the rub, at least for me.

Typical lines have the most forgiving club head with the strongest lofts. Not so with Mavrik and Mav Max.

Just got mine! 5-AW, +1/2", 2Β° upright. I turn 60 this year, so I stuck with the stock Elevate 105 shaft, stiff flex. My numbers with this shaft was similar to the custom shafts and they were pretty easy on my elbows and wrists. I'm hoping to get them out for their maiden voyage tomorrow. I couldn't pass up the deal of 50% trade bonus on some of my gear that feel out of favor, plus some other clubs. After the trades, i was out $75. I hope to find the same magic I had with one of my all time favorite irons, Callaway X20 Tours. Once I decide on my wedges, I'll probably go the same route as Warrick and go 53/58.

I got mine. 5-Sw 3 up 1/4 length added. Big mistake. They are 1 degree flatter to start so I'm still 2 up on the short irons. They are also already 1/4 inch longer in stock form. also stock is D3 swing weight. Now they are too heavy for me like D4 now. Not sure what to do. Guess I'll send them back. I can't hit the 5 iron at all. I have no problem with X14 5 and 4 irons. Also these irons are not very forgiving at all. But when you hit it nicely, it feels great. I'm wondering how forgiving the Max is. If it's the same width I'm guessing it's the same and that's not good.

So with our courses being open now for 2 months, what do you think of them. You may need to head out this way to show them off and let a guy try them :) July 11th might be a good day to do so, you know where to hear more on that!

After two weeks using the Mavrik Irons (7-AW) got to say the distance and gapping are very nice. The feel though is impressive. Teamed the irons with a Big Bertha 6 hybrid and the Epic Flash 3,4,5 hybrids . They are perfect for a no talent lefty like myself.

These replaced my 6-PW Titleist AP1s very easily.

We had a Callaway fitting day at our course today. With COVID Protocol in place they could only schedule 6 fittings.

All 6 bought MAX in one form or another. 5 irons and 2 drivers, with a 3rd driver likely to be ordered within a week or two.

The irons just flat out performed. From a 22 handicap that hit 7 iron 125 yards to a 6 handicap that hit 7 iron 195 yards with a silly tight dispersion-he has a horrible short game.

Great lineup top to bottom. I tried the MAX hybrid and MD5 wedges. The 60 degree was so easy to hit out of deep rough around the green. It may go in the bag.

LOL...well that would have been something wouldn't have. Problem of multiple vendor demo days :)

Obviously it was the MAVRIK irons that did well. It was really across the board for each segment, they fit a 6 handicap into the MAVRIK Pro who was hitting the 7 iron in the 180 range, which was only about 5 to 8 yards further than his current old Callaway, but was a much better flight and dispersion. There was a 22 handicapper that got great results with the MAVRIK MAX and a couple that were fit into the standard MAVRIK.

The Mavrik Pro appeals to my eye. I am looking forward to reading some performance reviews now that most have played them for a month or two.Β
Β

I’ve never hit a Callaway iron. I am primarily a Ping or Titleist player over my 50-years of swinging a club. Depending on the reviews, I may schedule a fitting.

I see a few of you here went with a 52 or 53Β after the pro AW. I’m noticing I have about a 20-22 yard gap between my AW and 54. I don’t think bending to 53 will make enough of a difference and don’t really want to bend it to 52. I think I may try and get a 52 and then either keep my 58 or goΒ 52, 56, 60.Β
Β

The thing is, I don’t use my 58 that much as it is, not sure a 60 would be any more useful to me. Maybe 52,56 and then add a 60 if I need it. I have an old 52 I’m gonna try in the bag first though and see if the 52, 58 set up works. Is that what most of you with the mavrik pro irons have gone with?

IMO this is the sleeper iron of the year, love the Mavrik Pro, great paired with the elevate shaft.

I just dumped my Mizuno MP-20 HMBs for these. 4 hdcp, previously played MP-32 &Β MP-64. Two kids now, looking for more help. The HMBs are gorgeous in the bagΒ but I just can'tΒ get along with them. Still can't understand exactly why but mostly blade length too long & I hate the satin after years of shiny blades. The Mavrik Pros give me that same look at address - they're barely larger than my MP-64s but longer and much more forgiving.

Β

My setup:

Β

Driver (Mavrik Max w/Ventus Blue)

3W (OG Rocketballz w/Aldila NV65)

17 deg Super Hybrid

19 deg old-Word not allowed TM hybrid

5-PW Mavrik Pro

50&54 CBX2 (dumped Vokeys)

60 CBX full face loaded with lead tape

Putter

Β

I'm good at partial shots with the 50 and have always loved lob wedgesΒ so I find myself using the 54 the least. If you can hit an 80-85% PW well, 52-58 can work for you too.Β

I currently have the PXG 0211 and fairly happy. The best thing about the irons is the feel, hard to believe that you're hitting a cast club. I hit my buddies Mavrik and they didn't feel no where as good as the 0211, but did I ever get some distance out of them. I was easily hitting his 7 iron 160+. My PXG is no where near that...and yes I know about the lofts, but at the distance I was hitting the 7 iron, I was also getting some serious height with it. Looking into getting a used set for my "second" bag.
