Lightweight Stand Bags

lol thanks but I’m just an ok player. I have a G30 driver, G15 17* and 20* hybrids, G30 irons 4-W, U, and S, and a Ping Tour 60* wedge. Currently auditioning my putter spot. These are all relatively new for me, 2 years or less. I just tend to hang onto stuff, prior to putting these clubs in the bag, my irons were 27 years old and woods pretty old too.

Nice I play G irons and G400 woods...no matter how much I get tempted to go for a nicer looking player iron I always come back to my G irons.  Just something about them

Just pulled the trigger on a used 2017 Sun Mountain 4.5 — I think this may be the perfect bag boys. Has the cart strap pass through for my push cart days, no club tangle (right SM owners out there?), plenty of pockets and storage, solid EZ Fit straps. Do I need to say anymore?

Solid choice.  Bigger and more pockets than I need, but definitely a great bag if you need more space.  Could definitely see its utility on a push cart.

Oh and also doesn’t have the handle that sticks out like in the newer versions that dig into your back when carrying

few things -- first off, this guy is a lunactic.

1. ive seen his videos before - needs to take it easy with the caffeine or whatever

2. no masks required in the SuperStore?

3. what is his obsession with putting his leg in-between the stand before picking up the bag? ive literally never done that or seen anyone do that before. odd way to assess a bag.

Thinking I need to make my own video after watching this display.  Guess he never realized where the PING rainhood is.

Grabbed a new color of the craz e lite.  I really enjoyed this bag last year until a divider broke and I couldn’t get a replacement bag for months.  Hopefully this holds up better.

How are the straps for comfort?   I like the size and weight as I carry 99% of the time but not sure about the thinner straps compared to Hoofer Lite.

Thanks man. Got it used, has some dings and marks on it, but got a good deal

So I got the bag and it was far more worn down that I was led to believe. Ended up returning it unfortunately.  The search for the perfect bag continues — for now it’s bag to my Ping 4 Series.

Should receive my Jones Original tomorrow, but I guess it's not a "stand" bag

Gotta agree with you there. He's in such a frenetic rush to pick up each bag and zip/unzip he didn't even have a chance to figure out the ingenious location of the Ping rain-hood (to me the best way to store that sucker). I can see him tearing the Mizuno pockets in no time. And then after all is said and done, his choice just comes down to whether a bag has a foot or not because his awkward way of picking up the bag catches on any bag with a foot.

No, just trying out the jones.  Likely as a carry bag with a half set.

Honestly when I felt the SM bag I got, the first thought in my head was:  wow, the quality of this bag compared to a Ping bag is night and day.  Ping bags just feel ultra premium.   I don’t think I could ever sacrifice that level of quality going forward, even despite the club snagging.

to me, it does feel "more premium" or beefier.  that's the problem I have with it.  I don't want beefier. I want lighter.   not to the point of dissolving on my back, of course.  I think the top or opening of the SM is the best in the bizz.  and the tangle is minimal over the PING.  therefore, I put a premium on the SM.

The Jones will definitely be given a shot.  Not sure it will dethrone the HL as the pocket situation is not straightforward.  If I can figure out an efficient pocket setup, then it has real potential.  It weighs less than the 2.5+ and the strap is the most comfortable ever.  I only carry 12 clubs so the top size and dividers work really well.  I can definitely see it being my cart bag as the pockets become irrelevant since everything I need is in the cart.

anyone have experience blacking out the letters on their PING bag with a magic marker?  If so will the magic marker run if say you play in the rain and it gets wet?  Thinking about snagging an all black bag Hoofer and blacking out the lettering. Thanks.

That definitely won't work.  The marker will look purple in no time.

I'd go with the newest Hoofer Lite over those 2,  it looks better and straps are improved.  There are a few sites where you can get the new HL for $170ish.

you talking about the one with the Lime Green?  Its a regular Hoofer, 5-way top.   I already have a ping 4 series bag in grey/light blue, so I was kind of leaning towards that one - could be good for my push cart and use my 4 series as a carry/range bag

Oh nvm - I misread what you said - you’re saying to buy a brand new Hoofer lite.  Nah I’m a fan of the older hoofer color schemes. Also like I said thinking about the 5-way to be my new push cart bag. Cart strap pass thru is so clutch and also the water proof valuables pocket.

New HL has cart strap pass thru fwiw.  Just my opinion, but the new versions of both HL and Hoofer are improved over the ones you have pictured, but I get it that some times looks trump function especially with small, incremental improvements in function.

You’re 100% correct.  For me it just comes down to the color scheme.  I’m not a fan of the regular Hoofer color ways.  And also want a 5-way top.  Won’t be carrying it at all, only using for push cart

Guy ended up selling it to someone else for $10 more. What a D Bag.
