I’m curious about the name, “Proto”. Obviously short for prototype, and yet they are (semi) mass producing them for public. Is this just a marketing name for Gen3, or are they still getting feedback and refining? If so, I assume this Proto will evolve in some way before being released as Gen3? Does anyone have any knowledge or insight?

My teaching pro is a PXG staffer and said it was a limted run of production and once they were gone, they were gone. We'll see. I'm hitting this week before ordering, I want a proper fit because even if they sell out I think we'll see quite a few on BST.

I think you'll see plenty on the BST in a few months, but I'm pretty sure then Gen3 will be identical to the Proto driver. Using the weights from the driver made sense, no more tiny weights. Just makes you wonder what's in line for Gen4 and if they go to a new weighting system. Good luck!

Sweet! I have noticed one weight in several pictures of all the proto’s have white dots on them. What gives? Heavy weight?

Just ordered the PXG 0811XF with the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow 70G and a GP CP2-Pro Mid grip. Haven’t bought a new driver in years but MAN am I excited.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's still a carbon fiber crown. In other photos, they still have the "hot rod" crown as Gen 2, but the trapezoid has a distinct Carbon Fiber look. Unless they've found a lighter and stronger material, carbon fiber is the way to go.

FWIW Rep told me the top trapezoid section was CF and the rest of the crown was titanium

I ordered the X+ Proto on May 3rd along with a Gen 2 hybrid. Build is complete as of today and I am waiting for the tracking number. Hopefully I will have them early to middle of next week.

First round in the books and I’m going to need to play around with the settings a bit. No issues with dispersion, still a tight ball flight but I struggled with launch today, ball flight was noticeably lower, no launch monitor data but it doesn’t feel as spinny as the 0811xf. Definitely was a few yards shorter then my 0811xf. I’m going to hit the range on Friday and play around with the weight settings and loft. If I can get a bit more launch I’ll be happy.

So...my showed in assembly today...then i got a email saying it shipped...an hour later...so 11 days from order to ship for my 0811x proto

Does any know the actual weights that come with the head? I called and asked and the service tech had no idea, other than there would be weight kits specifically made for driver available in late June.

Wouldn't it depend on your fitting? I was under the impression of your results show you need more draw than than normal. Maybe you get a 12g instead of a 10g Etc.

The newbie that took my order said a 15 gram weight in the back and 2 5 grams in the front and top and bottom....i will know soon, but i wanted the heavy weight in back so i know it 15 grams...well at least he told me it was...

Helium 5. I end up going to the range this evening and swapped and NVS into it, jacked the loft to 11.25 and put the heavy weight on the toe side - Nice high fades, ball flight I was looking for.

I ordered my X Proto just about a week after your order. I hope they are able to keep with the same schedule as mine should be done and arrive about a week after yours. Ordered mine on the 9th. Since I have an AD VR, Pro White TX and Ventus Blue already with PXG tips , I went with the Fuji Pro 2.0 to see what that shaft was like.

on the other hand my buddy ordered a LH set of irons on on 4/20 and they haven’t even shipped yet.
