Shaft Q&A with Fujikura - We're here to answer your questions!

If I've used a Motore Speeder Tour Spec 6.2x in my driver all this time, is it safe to say that a Ventus Black 6x would be a good starting point for a new build?

And which Ventus would you recommend for a fairway wood build? Been debating a Blue or Red 7x but not really sure which way to go. I've had success with higher, launching setups in the fairway woods in the past (Tour Ad-DI 7x), but would like to stick with the Fuji feel if possible.

I traditionally swing somewhere around 108-112 with high launch and high spin.

Mizuno JPX 900 Tours 4-PW / KBS C-Taper 120 Stiff

EVO VI would be similar in terms of launch + spin to EVO II. Materials, internal design, ENSO Data collection, and passion drive our company to improve on our designs. EVO VI gives you more stability due to the material strength allowing for minimized ovalization. We also added a Woven Pitch 70 ton full length for improved feel and accuracy. EVO I was different because it didn't include MCT. Ventus (non-velocore) is a mid launch mid spin shaft that doesn't include the multi-material bias core with Pitch 70. VeloCore on the tip section is the only way to differentiate the two.

Currently we only offer descending weight iron shafts with our Vista Pro, Pro, and MCI. MCI Black iron shafts are a progressive weight. I'd recommend trying the Pro Iron shafts because they utilize HDCC which helps them hold swing weight at steel length. They're also one length blanks giving you the ability to hard or soft step if needed. These shafts are .370 but can be tapered to .355. They're available in 65, 75, 85, 95, and 115.

Was long ago fitted into a Fujikura Tour Platform 26.3 Regular flex for my driver. That shaft just seems to fit me very well and I have not found anything quite like it since. I no longer have the specs on the shaft (weight, touque, etc.). Is it possible to get that info and is there anything in your current line up that favorably compares to this older shaft? The only other Fuji shaft that feels somewhat like it to me is another older shaft that I have in my fairways, the Fuji High Launch System that apparently was made for Tour Edge (66g, 3.7* torque, mid kickpt). Thanks so much. Really appreciate you guys doing this for us.

This is great stuff @Fujikura Golf I want to talk iron shafts. Played steel my whole life and over the winter have been testing several graphites, including the one I like best, the Fuji Pro 95 TS iron shafts (stiff flex). I noticed on your site the stiffness measurements Fuji lists for this shaft and the 115g version are the same. Is that correct with the only difference being the 20g in weight, or is the 115 TS stiffer than the 95 version?
I’ve only played the 95 TS and I came from 115g Project X Rifle 5.5 steel, but the Fuji 95 TS feels stable, only significantly smoother. The Fuji Pro has changed some misconceptions I had, which were that graphite iron shafts came in two varieties — light and loose or heavy and rebar. These shafts feel like a real step up. But I was not fitted for them, I just tried them in a used set of Srixon 965s and was surprised at the performance of a 96g shaft. Got it at same D1-D2 swingweight I had in steel. Do you recommend playing graphite at the same weight a player was using in steel or does it even matter? Deciding whether to test drive the 115 TS or just roll with the 95.

What can you tell me about the Atmos Orange that came stock in my M6 Driver and 3wd? For some reason it's hard to find any info on them.

I've always hit the He11 out of my 3wd so just swapped out my Ventus Blue 6s ( w/velocore ) in my driver for the Atmos Orange that I bought on ebay. Not only is it longer for me but the dispersion is just as good.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Fujikura thank you in advance for the response! Regarding fairway woods - I am looking to improve my 3 wood play in that I dont make contact with the center of the face nearly as much as I should. Does this mean i am a good candidate for the ventus black? I'm looking for low launch low spin and enjoy a stiff handled shaft. I've currently been fit into the motore x f1 in my driver after seeing significant club and ball speed improvements. Looking forward to your feedback! Driver swing speed around 112-115 average for reference.

That was long ago, yes! So long in fact that the improvements in both materials and design philosophies have made everything about that shaft obsolete. That being said, it is our recommendation to look to the present and sign up for a custom fitting and allow a professional to show you just how far our Fujikura products have evolved. You will certainly gain both distance and accuracy by upgrading to a current shaft like Ventus or Motore X for example. Visit: https://fujikuragolf.com/dealer-locator to find one nearest you. You will not regret it!That part was made specifically for the M6 line. Surprising to hear it beats out your Ventus, but we're glad you're hitting it well!Hey jjmurry - 3 woods are tough to fit, even with the pros. Based on what you're saying Ventus black could be a great candidate yes. Motore X has similar boas core design properties and we've also seen better center face contact with Motore X as well. If you like the Motore X it might be worth giving that a look also. You can't go wrong with either. As a reminder, please contact your local dealer or one of our online dealers: https://fujikuragolf.com/online-charter-dealers

So glad to hear. Please help spread the word about our PRO iron shafts, they really are incredible and golfers who try them are instantly sold. The tip and butt flexes are the same yes, just different weights.

Iron shaft weight is mostly a preference thing. That being said, if you can go lighter you'll likely gain some speed and it'll be easier to swing thus easier on your body. Lots of players make that jump from a ~120g iron shaft to our 95g and never go back...Hope that helps!?

sorry we missed you!

They're both stout profiles which is how they can compare yes. PRO 2 TS has a much stiffer tip than ATMOS.

Yes, we created some black paint versions, same shaft

Ventus Blue might be a winner in your 3 wood, or Motore X F3. Tough to say without fitting you!

The shaft used in the SIM driver is a Ventus part without VeloCore Technology (no Pitch 70 ton or 40 ton in the bias core) that we worked in conjunction with TM to optimize the performance for a wide range of golfers.

No question here, just a comment. I threw a ventus blue 6x into a g400 max and after 18 holes I’m very impressed. It’s low spin, tight, and straight hitting .... AND has great feel. Not boardy, feels reasonable to load, I don’t lose it in transition. Easy to see why it’s getting a bunch of love in the pro ranks!

Speeder 757 is one my favorite shafts of all time. Can you in simple terms explain to me the bend profile of that shaft so I can understand WHY I liked it so much? And is there any models now that replicate the stable feel of that shaft in a lighter option (as the grey hairs are coming in)? Thanks,

Stinger83 - thanks for your question.

Hoping you can provide a little more information here. Are you referencing the very first Speeder 757 here or could this be one of the later models like our Evolution Series? Do you happen to know what it looks/looked like? Just trying to gather some info to better answer this for you!

Thanks again!

I believe it was an older model - the white speeder 757 xevolution I believe I had It in my R15 and SLDR heads. I'm planning to do a driver fitting once the shelter in place order ends and want to know if this shaft is still current or what the modern equivalent is in your lineup. Thanks,

Stinger83 - based on your description and timing, this sounds like the Motore Speeder 757 (white with red/silver/gold "Speeder" logos). This shaft featured an enhanced loading and tip stiffness. If this is correct, here's a few shafts to consider - Ventus Blue, Ventus Black, Motore X F1.

Ventus and Motore X have very different tip sections so you'll want to try both. Check out the links below for more information:

Ventus - https://fujikuragolf.com/woods/ventus

Motore X - https://fujikuragolf.com/woods/motore-x

Thank you, hope this helps!

@alpineto and @boycer11 - thanks for your question.
Ventus and Motore X F1 may launch somewhat similar but Ventus will spin less (for most, based on our testing).
Ventus was designed to increase center-face contact and tighten dispersion utilizing our VeloCore technology with Pitch 70 Ton carbon fiber - a CF stiffer and stronger than most in the marketplace today.
With Motore X, we focused on increasing ball speeds and found (in most cases) golfers found more clubhead speed from Motore X vs Ventus but dispersion was tighter with Ventus.
Both are tremendous options. Before the COVID-19 pandemic I was personally trying both Ventus and Motore X to determine my "gamer" for the 2020 season. Just like all of us, I can't wait to get back out on the course!
Thanks again for your question! Hope this gives you some insight on these two models.
Stay safe and healthy!

@craz-e -
I would suggest Ventus Black or Atmos Tour Spec Black for your testing/comparison. These two models are our lowest launching/spinning, stiffest profiles and I believe the hzrdus would fall in that same category for PX.
Hope this helps and thanks for your question!
