Mine are on a FedEx truck somewhere in Missouri headed my way. I was a little leery at the time of purchase give that their fitting studios are closed, but they will offer a free fitting tune-up once studios reopen with loft/lie adjustments.

Most are closed, so perhaps after they reopen they will get with price slashing.

Based on WRX alone, PXG is killing it right now. Since the pandemic hit, I have ordered 0211 irons, 0311 irons and 0311 wedges. After my 0211 order a few weeks ago went quickly, my order for Gen2 0311 irons is taking forever, so either they are slammed, or short-handed, or both.

This may be a stroke of marketing genius, pricing ultra-premium clubs at “normal” prices, and striking while other manufacturers are effectively shut down. Gets them a foothold beyond what was likely a pretty narrow market/niche.

Beautiful day here in NJ, and golf courses reopening this morning. Heading out shortly for my second round with the 0211 irons, this time on my home course. Will report back.Good point, but I am pretty sure that while the 0211 and Gen2 (and Gen1) irons are heavily discounted, the Gen3 irons are still quite pricey (and I am sure still selling fine to the people who need the latest and greatest). So, this may be the model going forward, which wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world. High priced current model, and discounted previous model(s) to move them out. Seems to be working well right now.

As promised, reporting back after my round on the 0211 irons. Really like these things. I am obviously rusty, and the range isn’t open, so no chance to groove a swing before the round. Plus, the course was wet, which is kind of a good thing, as I can test turf interaction with the highest likelihood of digging. Anyway, not every iron shot was perfect of course. But from 5 iron on up through GW, every iron performed and did what I asked of it.

Great irons overall. Feel is terrific for cast irons. Iron heads are really long front to back, so you need to be ok with that visually. They kind of remind me of the i210 visually from topline and sole, but as if you stretched the head out a good bit. Very forgiving. Elevate 95 shafts are really good IMHO, and are as easy on my 47 year old joints as any steel shaft I have played (without being too light or whippy). IMHO, these are a great deal at $95 per iron. YMMV.

Just ordered 3 wedges (50 & 56 forged, 60 milled Zulu) and a Closer putter as an early “Father’s Day” gift to myself.

Really excited to try these out, especially to see how the putter feels. Felt like a steal especially since the wedges appeared to not carry any sort of up charge on the shaft and grip options (went with S400 with Tour Velvet midsize so not sure if those are up charge worthy any way).

I am a lefty and it was interesting that the Gen 2 0311T iron options were all out of 7 irons so I considered ordering 8-P but eventually decided against it.

Is it just me or does anyone much prefer the looks of the Gen 2 irons over the current Gen 3 (I think the Gen 3 look odd).

The Gen 2 X driver is the one I’ve been eyeing. Hear a lot of good things about its performance and sound, and that it’s pretty forgiving for a low spin head because you can dial in the weights.

As for the Gen 2 irons, I see some wrxers knock them for the firmest feel out of the three generations so far, yet so many players who have them say they do feel a little firmer than the first ones but it’s fine. I hit the original ones and they felt nice but have not hit Gen 2 or 3.

this will be the problem. once the average joe schmoe is able to play PXGs on the cheap and it shows up in the weekend duffers' bags, it will be hard to maintain their 'premium' cachet and get anyone to pay their retail $425/iron prices.

they will no longer be able to justify that their irons are better made and worth more because they are clearly able to make the clubs and make money at a much lower price point. the perception will be that the value of PXG clubs has gone down and there will be an expectation of future discounting.

they may have had a good month, but it could very well be sacrificing long term profitability/growth for short term gains. another thought is that it's possible they may have needed the cash flow given the gen3s were probably selling very poorly given the timing of their release.

Conceivably, anyone who was buying PXG irons at $400 per iron before might continue to do so. There were always discounted PXG clubs out there before, albeit only with the Hero’s program.

And even with more traction now, I don’t think we will ever see PXG in the bags of every Tom, Dick and Harry like we do with Callaway, TM or Ping irons. I know that I certainly wasn’t in the PXG camp previously, but they had their fans and customers, and seemed to be doing OK.

Third round with the 0211 irons today, and they are fantastic for me. I have played a ton of irons over the past few seasons, and have a bunch of iron sets at my house, but these are right at the top for me. To compare to Ping, they seem to have the look and feel of the best of the i series, with the forgiveness of the G series.

I have a nice set of Gen2 0311 irons with Steelfiber 95s being built at PXG right now, but they will seriously need to be outstanding to kick the 0211s out of the bag. Took a flyer on the Elevate 95 shafts along with the 0211 irons, but this combo works great for me. And the Elevate 95 are way easier on my joints and golfer’s elbow than my previous Modus Tour 105 and AWT 2.0 shafts.

While it could be perceived that way by some people, it is not necessarily accurate because you are missing the entire point of the brand.

The core market is people who either already get the deal, and have the ability to keep getting it, Or people who don’t care and don’t need a deal.

somebody with a maybach doesn’t really care what the price is. And they also don’t really care what someone else paid for theirs, or if they got a discount.

It’s a valid question. But I don’t really see it, as it goes against everything they have been trying to build.

you either sell product at a lower volume with higher margins, or you move a lot of volume with lower margins, and PXG has proven they have a successful market for higher margins with lower volumes.

If you look at the luxury goods market as a parallel, very high-end luxury brands continue to thrive in recession. A recent example is the surge luxury sales in Asian countries after the restrictions were lifted. I don’t see them changing their entire business model in a knee jerk reaction.

it feels a lot more like an extension of their attempt with the 0211 strategy to increase their footprint and generate brand loyalty, compound with the need to weather an economic decline, keep their workforce intact, and shed some legacy product while doing it.
