Weirdest club you’ve used. No one has mine.

Recommended Posts

If you had ever seen him hit balls in his prime you can believe it. Saw him at Hilton Head in the 90s on the range. One pure ball striker and one of the best long iron hitters I ever saw besides Tiger and Nicklaus. Not as long as those two gentlemen but pure hits. And man could he putt with that old Bulls Eye

Okay, I have a set of single length F2 clubs that I built. They are all 67 degree lie angle and 264 gram head weight. I did a lot of heat treating to get them bent up to 67 degrees. I did not really care what they looked like which I think is pretty obvious... I used silver solder to weight the longer irons and did a lot of grinding on the shorter irons and wedges. Pretty hard to beat for a weird set? I mean F2s are weird to start with. I played okay with them about the same as usual. It is true what they say about single length clubs, I only had to practice with one club and I was essentially practicing with all of them.

I actually have a Little David 8802 you know the one Wilson sued them over. My buddy Checkers uses a Plop putter right to this day and is as lethal as Pavin with the Bulls Eye

Anytime you miss a putt you just need to adjust the gapping and your back in business. Should paint the shaft yellow and label it "ACCEL 8.8"

I have you guys all beat, even the opening post. Not only the weirdest putter, but the gayest putter. A guy I played with used it as a joke in our group: if any of us left a makeable putt short, the golfer must from that point use this putter until the next guy leaves it short, and whoever held this putter at the end pays everyone else a set wager. We were charging all day!

9X8IDXI9J589.jpegI have this in the basement. Bought it for the wife, used it a few times. Found it while we were “lockdown cleaning”. This is a left handed one, internet pic, too lazy to go and snap my own.

I swear it looks worse in real life.

  • 1 year later...

Reviving this old thread because I just saw this putter for sale on Japan's Yahoo auction site. What's amazing is the number of bids it's already got.

Probably not safe for work.

It's a long shaft...36.5".

I suggested to the wife that she might like to get it as a Christmas present for me. I don't think that's happening.

I have a Probe 20/20 putter which I acquired back in the late 1990s (don't remember when or where). It's heavy as hell, and I don't remember ever gaming it, although I have tried it on a practice putting green. It's got a brass head a magnesium titanium alloy shaft, and a GP Tour Wrap grip. I've had it for a long time now, and while I don't plan on gaming it I do like to carry it with me when walking the dog late at night.

Definitely an odd duck. It was endorsed by Gary Player, but he probably never used it in a tournament. I've never seen it used by anyone else.

I can't compete with some of these whacky entrants but the following are on the unusual side.

Gowers Brown Nylon headed woods. They actually play quite well and are great for winter use when you don't want your finest persimmons getting spoilt.

A Ben Sayers Moon Shot putter, which I can only assume was created around the time of the space race and the Apollo landings.

Played with a few weird ones, like the Backasswards putter.  Below is the Adjustable.  There's a little wrench and you can move the face to change lofts.  Ahead of its time?

I remember a fellow by the name of Wriggles who used to play with one of those on occasion.  He was from Pittsburgh and would often play with an odd collection of clubs, never more than a handful at any one time, particularly through the winter months

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Had a neighbor who was a FedEx pilot -- told me about one of these that he used to carry with him on flights.  Always had it with him, so if he had some extra time before his return leg, he would grab a cab and find a place to go play 9 holes.  Beats just sitting around a hotel (can't hang out at the bar if you're flying).

Yes I played them for almost two years. Even though the offset was extreme I just opened the face a bit at address and truthfully they actually did not play that bad at all.

I had a set of those for couple years in mid '90's. I actually played very good golf with them. Had Loomis graphite shafts in my set. Yes, they are weird looking irons.

The whole thing just raises so many questions. Who commissioned it? Who made it? Who paid over $270 for it at auction? Is there a joke in there about making a good stroke with it?

And so on.

But mainly, who on earth decided it would be a great idea to have a p**** putter?

I know someone like that.  My son says that he is the smartest dumb person he ever met.  This fellow is certifiably brilliant, but lacks a single shred of common sense.  He happens to be my son's best friend.  Think about this:  These are the scientists that we are placing our future in the hands of... 🤔

Now I am pondering who I could commision to build such a thing.  Lajosi?  Black Lab?  Olsen?

A Scotty Cameron would never happen.  Too corporate.

This could become a new show on the History Channel.  They have that show where people forge blades.....Why not a dick-putter?

I'm thinking Fehrity could be the moderator.

I'm throwing down the gauntlet.   Make it happen, world.

Should I move this topic into the Putter thread?
