I placed my first cobra order on March 29th with rickief2020( 3 speedzone irons and two wedges), stopped working on may 7th. On may 19th i placed my first of two using Brysond2020(grips, shoes) it started on may 7th., I had a buddy order irons. The rickie code I got from a friend, the bryson was a guess. I sent the bryson code via pm to 4 or 5 folks on here via pm.

I'm not convinced that the Cobra codes that were found/used were tied to Memorial Day in any way. I'd bet that there are valid code combinations that just haven't been discovered yet. I don't think there's any reason to think that the "deals" expired yesterday.

It’s certainly not the lowest price they’ve been but Costco has the CaddyTek 3 wheel push carts in stock. Probably still a better deal than anything available from a competitor if you’re in the market. They’ve been hard to come by since COVID 19 hit.

I have a buddy that got one of these codes a while back from his job, kind of an employee shopping benefit thing where a bunch of companies including Cobra provided a discount code that could be used to buy their stuff. I don't remember the specifics but I want to say the code was the same format as the ones in this thread, definitely not a one time use code, and was good for 40 or 45 % off. To your point, it was not a Memorial Day sale as I remember it being in December and having to make a decision on whether or not to buy by the end of the year so the code was probably good for the whole year, or until WRX finds out about it and goes to town.

Yeah my post above I used a code back in March that lasted for awhile, then the Bryson code came about after the Rickie code was shut down. So a 45% code (rickief2020) in March through about May 7th is definitely not a Memorial day deal. The Bryson code went from May 7th until it was shut down this weekend, so again not a Labor Day deal.

Would an OEM selling directly to public still make a profit or break even with a 45% discount? If so, I don't see why they would cacell all these orders to move product. Would it be too much to ask for another Cobra code?

It'd be surprising if they cancelled the orders. While I'm sure there is some abuse, there are others like me, who for a great deal are willing to give their equipment a try for the first time.

In the midst of COVID and, I assume needing to boost sales - this was a pretty genius way to drive some interest and gain some new customers. OR, they didn't do it on purpose and it was a horribly executed employee discount program. I guess the jury is still out.

I suspect the latter. I'd bet someone in their marketing and promotions department is pissed right now as they develop new codes and send them back out to their sponsored reps. There's no way they would have programmed some of the obscure codes that were posted as part of a holiday promotional strategy, only to shut them down after 15 minutes.

I wonder if there's a dollar cap on how much can be ordered on a given rep's code. Maybe that's why the player codes lasted so much longer than the "influencer" codes. The codes also started expiring much faster when people had stuff ready in their carts, which would theoretically cause the "cap" to be hit much quicker. It may have triggered an automatic disabling of the code at a certain dollar value to prevent excessive usage of the employee discount. I've seen capped employee discounts in some other industries (auto, aerospace).

Add blindly ordering.. I'm sure they have an account that allows them to call directly and talk to an actual rep.

 

also how a company thinks a good code will NOT get leaked is tough to believe. Honor system? Ha

 

The cap kinda makes sense though as it gives some explanation abt the random kill times of the code.

Could be... but then it was pretty stupid to use codes that could be fairly easily guessed. Still, using names and a format that could easily be found seems careless unless it was an intentional move to generate hype. I spent more time reading on Cobra’s website over the weekend than I ever have before!
