Titleist irons are very nice and yet to me the New Level forgings feel noticeably better. Some people just can’t convince themselves to not go with the big brand.

I pulled the trigger on the 623cb clearance.  For that price with no upcharge Modus 105x shafts and bent how I like….had to….

I literally just got the same exact set 30 minutes ago 😂😂😂 great minds think alike and at this price this was a great opportunity for me to try a lighter X flex shaft. I tested a Ping with the Modus 105X today indoors and was blown away at how effortless it was to swing and get good numbers with!

Enjoy them. They are fun to play. Pretty nice that they are still offering the full list of custom shafts on a closeout. Forged and milled 1020 steel irons built to custom specs for $99 per club shipped? That’s a serious value.

Meanwhile, Ryan Moore finished top 5 at the Valspar with his New Level irons. The report I saw said he had put the 480-TC irons in the bag in late November and immediately scored a top 10 to secure his 2024 Tour card.

Steven Alker won the Schwab Cup last fall with the 623CB and already has a win with the 480TC. Is there any better deal out there on Tour-event winning irons?

Well…in the past I played steelfiber i95s shaft which is stiffer than the Modus 105x.  I found it too light. Went to elevate tour s 117g and they are nice. Read review of the Modus 105x being similar and 114g.

More New Level eye candy for my fellow wrxers. Here are the 480MCs and the 480TC and MC side by side. The MC’s (8-P) just arrived and they are very sharp. They look like precision tools. A true players iron look. (Also see the 50 degree SPN-SS wedge in the background.)

These are 8 irons in the comparison photos below.

Some observations:

— MC has a shorter blade length but it is not dramatic. The two heads are very blendable if a combo is desired. The MC is compact but not scary compact. Looks very playable from address.
— The soles are where you see the size difference. MC has much thinner soles.
— MC is very playable, with the thinner sole it launches a little lower than the TC for me. MC gets more yardage from weaker lofts, didn’t see much difference.
— MC is not hard to hit at all. It does well on thin hits, I would say TC is a little better on toe misses. We tried both for 18 holes today. Two impressive heads. I am liking how they are in action.
— Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. To me both heads are about perfect in overall size. Not big or scary small.
— I love how New Level gives the exact head weights on new clubs. (See the little stickers.) Shows the precision of their forgings and millings. Nice touch.

They look great!  Thanks for sharing...  I heard the TC's are hot... and you are saying the MC's get good distance from their lofts?

I was thinking trying to sync them up like my MB/CB combo set.

Would you recommend just ordering them and then getting them fit here?

Thanks!

Well…I got a shipping notice….2 days after placing a custom order???? I was expecting 3 weeks at least (the day 10 business days on website)

623cb, 4-P 1 deg flat, 2 degrees weak, modus 105x shafts and midsize grips.

They build and ship super fast. Their builds are spot on also. Definite plus of buying from them. Grip selection sucks but otherwise great from build and shipping perspective.

I got mine two years ago...  I remember talking to local PGA Superstore and Mizuno's were 6+ weeks on an order.

My New Level's were to my door in 11 days!

What model? Do you still game them? Right now I game PXG 0311T gen3…wondering if the 623cb will knock them out of the bag.

I went in for a 480-TC fitting at the HQ today. I brought my P7TW 7 iron to compare, and it took them a while to convince me until they increased the weight from D2 to D5 with X100. Purchase 5-PW with TI X100 and pick it up early next week. They will help me with the weight kits if I change the grips. Stop by for a quick fitting session if you are close to Scottsdale. BTW, I saw DB in person. I think it will be a popular set to replace Apex irons.

It’s great how they can dial in the fit. I was comparing the TCs to a set of P7MCs. Both very nice, but the TCs offer a surprising amount of forgiveness on thin and toe strikes. They are very playable.

Did they tell you anything about the DB?Is it a hollow head or simply a larger version of the 480TC?

DB has a longer heel-to-toe than TC. I considered MC one of the smallest heads I had ever seen in a long time and could not hit it so well. After several rounds with TC, I will know if I need 5/6 DB to blend with TC.

The 902 OS already has low offset, in fact it has less offset in the short irons than tour irons such as the ZX7. If it gets much lower the irons become unplayable. Have to have some offset for me. There’s a reason designers don’t

go zero offset.

NL does have relatively low offset compared to a lot of players cavity irons for sure.  I hate offset but the offset in NL irons isn't offensive.  That being said, the PF1's had pretty much 0 and those are my favorite irons to date.

Emailed NL to ask about the 480 series in comparison to the PF-2 and about future series. They said the 480 TC is very comparable to the PF-2, I guess the MC is more like the PF-1.  Also said the 480 series will be around the rest of this year AND next, so it looks like these will be available for a while.

Hmm....seems odd they would be comparable when the lofts are vastly different.  I wonder if these launch that much lower?

Oh sorry I just meant in size/shape, not lofts. Should have been more specific. Though looking back now at the PF-2 lofts they're only 1 deg stronger across the board. PF-2s are 26, 29, 33, 37, 41, 45 5-pw, according to here...

The MC launches lower than the TC for me, but I am hitting the MC in a PX Rifle and the TC in a C Taper Lite. Much thinner sole on the MC and it shows in the lower flight. They’re both great irons and fans of small heads will certainly like the MC.

I like both of them but if we are talking full sets, I’d opt for the TC for me.

TC is far from a large head but it is bigger than the MC and launches a little easier with its wider sole. In scoring irons I can easily handle the MC. No worries in 8-P. They do perform a little differently. TC definitely does a little better on ball speed retention when I mishit it. If you’re a shot maker with the scoring clubs, the MC can pull it off. I do think the MC launching lower means players may not need to strengthen lofts to get distance out of these irons.
