I like them, but have played mizuno for decades  and had the callaway apex mb 18's. All of these are fine irons, it really comes down to what you want. The 785's are a good set, but all the OEM's are making good irons.

I have been playing Mizuno irons for over 10 years (MP60). Srixon Z785 is the reason why it won me over to let go of my Mizzys. Plus you can get Z785s for dirt cheap right now. More solid dense feel at impact vs Mizunos, which are a bit more solid squishy feel if I am describing them correctly. Both great sets. Tried out the MP 20 MMC as well but Srixon Z785 had better turf interaction and consistency for me.

I work in a golf shop, national chain, and can play any iron I want, and I play the Z785. Not to dismiss the Mizuno, they make a fine product, it's just the Z785 feels more solid to me, less mushy. What most people describe as soft with the Mizuno's I describe as mushy. IMO there is a fine line at which point you lose feel

I have a mixed set.....way too much time and effort into the set, but, took the value approach and what I wanted.  Ultimately ended up with the mizuno mp18 hi fli's 5&6 iron because I liked the look at address vs the 585's plus flew a bit higher and easier to hit for my swing with the extra toe weighting, plus were half the price of the mp20's hmbs/mmc's.  Then have the 785's 7-pw because they seemed to have a thinner topline vs the mmc's(18's & 20's)....not brave enough to actually play blades. They look better, and have a more solid, but very soft, if that makes sense, in the 785's.  For my eye, they are the perfect blend of looking like a blade without actually being a blade, meaning more forgiving in the cb.

Seems any recent new release is designed to be blended and be a blended set.

I have only experienced this Mizuno "mushy feel" once, with the MP60s.  The Srixon irons I have tried which is all of the 7 series and the 945s, have all felt better than most of the Mizuno irons I have tried.  For the cost, there is no beating the products Srixon puts out, IMO.

Really want a set of the 785 or 585s. How is the launch on the 785s with modus 120?  I launch to high and it seems from reviews the 585 launch lower so I might be swayed to go with the 585s for that reason alone.

Taylormade M6, 9.0* head set -1.5*, Nippon Regio B+ shaft, 65 stiff at 45.5"
Cobra FLY Z+ 3 wood, orange, aldila tour blue stiff, 14.5*

Sub 70 939x, 4H(21*), Proforce V2 85 stiff
Sub 70 699 Pros, 5-AW, Modus 120 stiff

They're fantastic irons.  A huge improvement over my old TM 2014 MC irons.

Agreed - V sole are for some. If you are shallow, i would suggest looking elsewhere. From my 1 year of experience gaming them.

Can you eloborate on this? As a person who also is shallow, I thought the V-sole would be very forgiving when you might hit it a bit fat. In my experience it has been easier to use irons with some pre-worn leading edge.

The launch will partially dependent on you obviously, I play a 585/785 combo and have no issues getting lots of height on the ball as is and I play AMT White shafts which are low launch. Honestly any higher and it might be way too high so no issues getting, if you can somewhat control height you'll be fine.

I'm a bit of a sweeper.  Often just skim the grass off, without creating any sort of divot that can be replaced.  I've had no issues with the V sole.

In my experience, I could sweep the long irons very well. However, I felt like my contact was less than ideal the shorter the club got. The bounce got in the way and I had to create a ton of lag to get a good response, which is not natural to me. If you look at the club from the side, holding it in an address position, you can see how the v sole bulges down and when i swept those short irons, bruising the turf and not creating lag, the leading edge was raised way too high for me. Again, with a grain of salt, this is how it worked for me. I had a rotten time with the set PW, but my MD5 50* was just lovely and i would take neat little divots with it. Ymmv.
