Most expensive putter you've ever gamed?

My problem is I like fat grips and mallets and I don't see the point getting a really expensive putter for that. Like most wrxers, I spend a lot on putters. Mostly cheaper and used, but still adds up. A month ago I wanted a boutique putter. Something no one else had and something that would make me want to practice more. Recently I realized I like a sightdot better than a line, so that was what I was after.  After some research, I realized I couldn’t afford one. Off to the bay I went. I found a new xenon with The specs I wanted and a One off custom. I spent $325 delivered and couldn’t be happier. I don’t care if I over paid Or not cause it’s exactly what I was looking for. The last 3 weeks I’ve putted better than I ever have. My partners are floored over how many I am making.

Had a Bettinardi BB8 Dass Tri Sole Fit face with a single sight line on the top. Paid $900 new and used it for 6 months then sold for $800. Miss that putter, selling was a huge mistake.

What you paid isn't a lot considering it's handmade. Also if it's a putter you love and will game for a long time I don't think price matters

My current gamer - Custom Scotty Phantom 

With the custom work it is probably around 900-1000$ with shaft and grip.

In the early seventies I was offered $800 for one of my Wilson 8802s. In the late nineties I was offered $900 for a one of 500 Scotty Cameron, and took it.

 

My current gamer a Wilson 8813, I'm probably in it $400 for the machine work and finish. The putter, shaft and grip less than $40. But the head was acquired in 1974.

I don't think I've ever played a putter that cost more than $300.  Many of those I've owned have come from the 'bay and were considered high end at some point or other and lost favor (and value) along the way...

Money doesn't make any difference when it comes to putters. My best putting generally come from mallets, and my Kombi S must be close to ten years old now. And I didn't buy it new.

Just started playing last year but am already falling into the deep rabbit hole of buying excessive amounts of clubs.

Purchased my Toulon San Diego in March and have been gaming that all summer ... Until I found an Evnroll ER2B last night.

Cannot wait to try that out

my SWAG Tour Proto putter cost me $1,666.66

 

I have regular "stock" SWAG putters that are the same model. Other than the cooler stamping, custom finishes and looks, theres literally no difference. Not mad about it, was mainly curious, but probably like most people I just wanted to have a Tour putter..... its out of my system and I dont regret it at all, but I won't ever buy a putter that expensive again.

Bought an expensive putter, and eventually decided it just wasnt worth it. Would rather have the extra money spread out throughout the bag.

Used a Cameron Classic I over the course of a summer. Great putter but I sold it for around $1K and went back to my AOP Newport at the time. Used the money to buy an aftermarket car stereo for a car I ended up selling 8 months later. Stupid.

My “most days” gamer was way more than I’d like to admit but the most expensive putter I’ve ever “used” on course was I think $15K.  It was a putter I drooled over at an event and the owner brought it over on the 18th green for me to try out.  I was afraid to even touch the grip let alone hit a ball with it so I gingerly lagged my putt and gave it back.

It was a Cameron.  This was probably close to 10 years ago so I can’t remember all the specifics.  My horrible memory says twisted welded neck, I think copper head, and a gem for the sitedot.  But like I said, I could be wrong on any of those points.

You say Cameron then 15K is believable, then again some of the prices and the actual putters are beyond mind boggling.

Yep.  I have a few things that might fit in a collection but I’m no collector.  But I’ve been lucky enough to meet and become friends with a few that are or are good friends with big time collectors.  There’s definitely some crazy stuff out there.

Gamed a 007 Byron for a number of years only to sell it to buy a custom fit Edel that was only in the bag for a couple of years. Neither can touch a CT Scotty but both still cost more than my driver. 

 

Now I game a used Nike I bought off eBay and I've never putted better ?

I like my Edel but I wouldn't have sold a Byron 007 for it. But you found a winner so that's all that matters.

Yeah, I hit a wall with the Byron, felt like I couldn't putt it in the ocean.  Finally threw in the towel after what felt like a year of terrible putting.  Was mostly mental I'm sure but at the same time, there is no question a zero offset putter works best for me.  Now when I pick up any Newport/Anser style putter I really don't care for it at all.

I get that, no point having something that doesn't work for you collecting dust. I've found I prefer 1/2 to 3/4 offset in a putter but as a lefty that's not exactly common, so I deal with full offset until I get a custom done.
