 I played better. Less rust. Driver still not back to consistent. I finished my round and thanked my putter. I hit greens a plenty but most times I was fairly far from the cup. It didn't matter because all day from 30 to 50 feet, be it uphill or d own, a left bender or a right slider, my first putt finished snug. I didn't mess up a single one. No three putts. I did make one birdie putt from 10 feet. 

  I consumed lots of water and Gatorade, nibbled on turkey and protein bars, applied lots of sunscreen, incessantly toweled off my face, and had a fine time with the fellas today.  I shot 77.  My long stretch of days off has concluded. I got two rounds in and found a wee bit of solid golf.

Its suppose to be 97 on the lake today.  Your boy bagged (4) fish this morning. They weren’t huge but we didn’t get skunked. I caught 4 and one got off at the boat. Father in law caught 3 and had two get off. Pics to follow later.

For the last week (Next Week in Memphis) of our PGA Tour Picks contest I have added a twist. It's what I am calling.......

 

 

                            The Power Multiplier Play

 

And this is how it works. 

Only one of your Picks for the week is eligible. You call that pick you Pick X 2, Pick X 3, of Pick X 4. 

Your pick that has this designation will be worth 2, 3, or 4 times the standard point value. 

 

Example:   Touch selects Sergio Garcia and make him my Power M Play X 3.  If Sergio makes it into the top ten I would receive 9 points (the standard 3 points for a top 10 finish times three) Now also if Sergio missed the cut I would be minus 9 points for that pick. ( standard -3 for a missed cut times three).

 

You can make your Power Multiplier Pick up to 4 times the standard point value. This twist will give the player's not too far off of 1st place the option to wager a bit larger and possibly going yard in the bottom of the 9th and winning the game.

Hit the range after work. So that makes 3 times I was out in the extreme summer heat swinging this week.

 

I have the Senior Club Championship this weekend. I am tight with 10 or so in the field so I will enjoy the golf speak.

I get through that and I am free for a week. Come August I need an extended break away from all the face to face interaction that I go through and give these almost 60 year old sticks some time off. I intend on playing three rounds next week with one for sure being a drive down to Mike at Links T. From this late afternoon's practice session I give myself a passing score for ball striking, 'cept the driver. I'm only 70% back to fixed with the #1 wood.

  I talked with Hutch today and he gave me an update on Jamal's July performance.  Father and son have been covering the state over the past two weeks playing in tournaments. Jamal had 4th, 7th, and 10th place finishes. Nice. I also learned earlier in the week from the headmaster at Jamal's HS that is a member that he is one of the straight A kids there. It's cool to watch his golf life unfold.

 

 I am also at this point greatly reducing the amount of skin, vulgarity, Penthouse Forum stories, and over all back alley smut that I have been posting. I found it a hoot sharing with some buddies here such material, but it has run it's course and become stale. I will take a wee bit higher road going forward. It is now time for me to pull it back came to me this week. Possibly some of you were sending vibes along these lines my way of late ?  I have appreciated that recieved energy.

 LP is no dang hippie though, remember that....lol  

 One can get carried away at the controls folks.    

My opponents can count on seeing some filthy short irons next week.

I was told today to be on call for hosting two new caddies for a playing round once the heat subsides. This will probably mean next week. Is this my thing this season?  That would be the only reason I would go to the gnome castle during the first week of August. I do love hitting off these fairways and taking in all the western NC beauty that is abundant on that golf course.

There has been lots of reflection for me over the past weeks knowing that soon I will be handing over the controls to greenemachine. I accomplished something unique and lasting when I started this seasonal thread 5 years back. I just tossed out an idea to see if anyone wanted to predict a few NFL games each week and indeed got a few nibbles. This thread unexpectedly became so much more. We grew into a spot where we wanted to check in often because we enjoyed what was being said here. The fact that this place has had such incredible staying power over the years has made me quite proud. As the creator let me tell you it has been a complete joy to watch my initial idea take hold and turn into a treasured group of nutty friends.

I affixed the decals for her name just so on her stern. I used the hardware store's finest stick on numerical mailbox decals  in "#" and "8." You named your damn boat, I learned early this was a thing growing up in the Great Lake state.

I was playing with a member and two of the assistant pro's. I had a caddie that day and he assisted me greatly in reading putts. I finished with back to back birdies. I doubt I will ever shoot an even par round on that tough golf course again.
