Rain may play to the hands of long hitters!

Not necessarily. While the short hitters are hitting longer irons into the greens, the softened greens are more receptive to them. Also, short hitters generally hit more fairways, and therefore avoid the wet rough.

Recall that In Gee won the Evian in very sloppy conditions, and she was average length off the tee.

My best reference is Rory McIlroy winning rain soaked 2011 US Open.

Rain, shine... Windy, still...   Whether the golfing gods are in their favor, sheer talent, etc, I think the winner will be the one who... deserves it!  (Why 4 rounds are played instead of 1 hole, or even 1 round)....

Well, that pretty much sums it up. 😄

I think we've all watched enough golf to know that different types of players can excel in poor conditions. Many of the players from Texas are good in the wind because, well, Texas is windy as heck. If one didn't play in the wind, one wouldn't play much golf. However, that doesn't mean a high ball hitter can't do well. It's a lot easier to stop a high ball downwind that has more backspin than a low ball.

I think the biggest factor in playing well in poor conditions is simply focus and mental toughness. As the crew were discussing the other day regarding Danielle's preference for tough courses, a tough course or conditions can immediately eliminate a portion of the field from contention.

I do believe in an element of  "hot streak" coming into these weekly events by the way -- Matilda, Kelly were on a good "streak" - on solid play, as an example.  They havent disappointed...  Mina is contending - on a streak too...

Minjee, not quite on that "streak", Jessica, nor Lexi either...  Back to the true contenders for today:

DK, well, she is DK - sheer talent and experience on winning driveon events this year...

Ciganda - as you guys keep saying, it's the last round...

Bianca - I see the maturity -- so who knows - did anyone really expect it this soon?

Ally?  I don't know much - defer to you guys...

Kirk/Altomare/Ariya -- not quite the consistency - but hey, it's golf!!

All this leads me to nowhere... back to the winner will be who deserves to win 😛

'Guess I gotta throw a pick out. I think the event is ripe for a first time winner, so I'm going with AAA: Ashleigh, Ally, and Andrea.

If none of them finish in the top 10, I'm joining AA. 🙂

That looks like 3 picks for 1 winner...we shall assume you meant Ally 😉
It looks as if your safe from the AA  🍻

The announcers better practice pronouncing Bianca's last name cuz they'll be saying it a lot pretty soon..

They'll probably give her a catchy moniker soon enough...

...."Bianca P" or just "BP" seems the easiest for now..

Beyonce ....now there's Bianca!   Soon, she will be referred to as "B"

It will eventually be on the LPGA website ... as each round closes.  What Karen is tweeting, is the official stats sheets that the LPGA provides to all of the media for their background stories, etc.

The LPGA gives the announcing crew a "cheat sheet" of stats before every round. That's why they're able to discuss scrambling percentages, and we're left in the dark. 😡

Congratulations to Ally.  Well deserved first win.  DK didn't play her best but still was there - boy, it takes the whole kitchen sink and then some to beat her... Pagdanganan gave it her best, but her GIR stats were mediocre today... Putts didn't want to cooperate but no doubt, we are going to see her more often in the future.

Mina was not surprising, part of the "hot streak" thesis I had... Kelly Tan seemed to actually cooled off here...  Ciganda?  Well, on form!

Overall for me, it was an exciting tournament... maybe not to the rest of the crowd here given DK's "below par" (to her standards, at least) performance, but that's what made it exciting to me actually!  Have a great weekend to everyone... As LPGA fans,  we now face a long wait for November...

For Yealimi Noh, I'm quite happy she'll have at least the next 3 weeks off, maybe longer.

As a 19 years old rookie, she didn't play to the standard set by Minjee Lee in 2015 and Brooke Henderson in 2016.   But, still there's something to be said about being the youngest player on LPGA raster, while leading Rookie of the Year race, #29 on Race to CME Globe and #32 on Official Money.

I still have high hope she'll put it all together before the end of 2020.

Solid win for Ally. One of my AAA picks came through. Yeah. I liked her post-round interview. She admitted she got nervous when DK closed the gap to one stroke, but she stuck to her process, and it paid off. 'Don't think one could ask for more than a three under round. She did what she had to do, and played smart for the most part.

Danielle being Danielle. She'll look back at the couple of mistakes she made, but it was a solid performance nonetheless. At one point I thought Ally had it in the bag, but Danielle doesn't seem to go away. After the Marathon, she knows better than most to keep it close.

Can't really fault Bianca. The vast majority of rookies, and some seasoned players, fade considerably in that position. To win one must avoid the big mistakes, and she did that handily. Now she just has to put her putter in some hot water.

Speaking of mistakes, what a merry go round for Ariya. Birdies and doubles. She had four doubles for the week. Turn those into bogies and she's tied with DK. 'Nice to see her playing like her old self.

Good week for Mina with her best finish ever. We're seeing a lot of journeywomen step up and get in the mix lately.

Another good week for Lydia. She definitely has some work to do, but she's trending in the right direction.

Thought it was a great week. Can't ask for more coming down to the final hole, and having Danielle come within inches of grabbing a share of the lead. The course looked great, and it was nice to have fans out there. I definitely loved the aerial coverage, but the plane's noise was annoying. They need to get a mini remote control blimp. Lol.

Thanks for confirming to everyone that just because you can out drive your competitors by 30 40 or almost 50 yards, it doesn't guarantee a win each week.

What's really impressive is her combination of fairways hit and distance.

Looks like Carlota was poking it out there pretty good the first two rounds considering she averages 265.

True about not guaranteeing a win but that kind of driving makes any course easier. Keep that up and her turn will come.
