Hi Austin, I think you're thinking of @3wood, because I'm an old guy who doesn't swing it 120+ anymore, and the Blue is working great for me.😄

Glad to hear it is working great! Play well, friends and please keep updating us here with your experiences!

I may have missed it but what club length are y'all playing at? 39"? 40"?

Over the winter, looking at tinkering with adding a driving iron back into the bag. Thinking the P770 3 iron but wasn't sure if I should go stock 39" length or maybe a bit longer?

I previously tried the P790 2 iron with a 80g graphite shaft but couldn't stop drawing it off the planet.

TIA

Curious if anyone here has tried out the HB 7S and 8S? I'm looking on Fuji's site and from a weight perspective, it's 75g vs 86g. Is a 9g different that noticeable?

Torque seems very close. Look around at other brands and seems like a typical stiff shaft falls in the 80 gram range... Wondering if there's other things I need to consider if I'm opting for a 9g lighter shaft at 7S HB?

9 grams doesn't seem like a lot but does make a bit of a difference ....to me at least.

I play my irons a half inch long, which means that my longest iron (depending on whether I'm using the Hogan Icons or Scratch SB-1s, that could be a 3 or 4 iron) plays 39.5". I have found that I actually prefer to go a bit shorter than standard with my long clubs, so I play my driver and 3 wood about a half inch shorter than standard. The driving iron checks in at 39.75", which was the standard length when I got it, so it's essentially the same length as my longest iron, and the difference in distance compared to the 3/4 iron comes from the lower loft and head construction.

If you're asking about the smoke.black hybrid then I can comment. The smoke black is VERY firm in the handle (and I only had the 6.0). It feels like it has no kick at all. I tend to like firm handle, soft mid, firm tip. Smoke black is firm everywhere. It had no feel.

Agree 100%. Same with original Hzrdus Black hybrid shaft. I have that in a 2 iron (at 6.5) and it's an unmovable post. No feel. I hate it. I'm going to try a Venus Blue 9x. I have the Blue in driver and fairways.

Good to know guys.

Then who the hell plays these kinds of shafts?! Lol. I'm definitely trying to upgrade this stock Smoke shaft for a Velocore HB 🙂

That's what I had in my TM 2 UDI. HAAAAATED that shaft but I pretty much hate every Project X shaft. SO butt stiff

I have been trying blue in driver and 3wood after liking the hybrid so much. The hybrid and driver feel a lot alike (6x driver, 9x hybrid). The 7x in the 3wood has a bit livelier handle than the other 2. I had to put about 6g of lead tape on the head to get the sw up. I have a tip weight inbound to change where that 6g is located to hopefully change the feel a touch. I've hit a couple shots with the 3wood that are typical of me swinging a loose handle shaft.

I like the hybrid shaft a lot. The driver shaft will get tested more. It didn't significantly out perform my rogue. It found a couple more fairways tho, so it's still in the hunt to replace my gamer

Jury is still very much out on the 7x in the 3wood. The 757 speeder evo2 in the 3wood is far from a slouch shaft.

The switch for me was HZRDUS Black 6.5 to Ventus HB Blue 9x, and while I wouldn't say that the HZRDUS Black was that bad, the Ventus HB does feel better to me, and I have consistently hit it better since I've made the switch.

Coming from the V2 counterbalance, this has so much better feel.  I can feel where the clubhead is, especially at the bottom.  I have the utmost confidence off the tee especially.  I've hit it more times on short par 4's than I can remember.  I've actually played better on those holes too.  Not trying to hit it further with the driver, relying on the control of the 2-iron.  Doing these testings are a love hate relationship, because I always end up loving the shaft & then have to get that version in the driver.  🙂  I think that's an inside ploy between Golfwrx & Fuji??  LOL  You guys get a cut??

Love this shaft!  That is all 😉

Referring to Hybrid or 3 wood your testing?

Hybrid is solidly in the bag.

Driver appears to be headed the ventus way.

3wood needs a tweak and more testing. As-is, the 757 speeder evo2 is better.

Oh ok , I'd mistaken the comment above as pertaining to the hybrid and not being able to control it and it wasn't long enough....I had one of those "is this shirt blue or gold moments" lol

My old diamana 2i shaft broke and my trusted club builder, who knows my game, told me to put a Ventus Blue 9X in the iron. I listened and it’s been awesome. I added spin, increased launch & carry, lands softer on greens.

Doesn’t run like a scalded dog on the fairway now, but still good roll out. The big difference is control now. It’s always a tight draw and I have probably missed my target 50-60% less with the blue over my old diamana whiteboard

Finally got situations to hit my hybrid again today. Tee shot on a short par 4. Nothing special, just a trap draw that did exactly what I wanted.

But the shot that was special...2nd shot on the par 5 9th. 238 out, slightly downwind. Hit it to 6 feet. Ball never left the flag.

Oh, and 1 more round with ventus blue in the driver. Hit it on all but 3 holes. Hit every fairway but 1 and the miss was less than 3 feet off. I think I'm making the switch to blue in the driver too.

I have it in driver and hybrid. The hybrid is secure. I need another round where I hit ventus and 125msi rogue side by side but it appears the blue will be in my driver.

I have a blue shafted up in my backup 3wood. But I had to add 8g of lead tape to get the swing weight up. I didn't like how the shaft played with the lead tape in the head so I have a tip weight I need to put in the ventus. Should have that done this week and then I'll test 3wood more. I have a speeder evo2 in my gamer 3wood and I can pretty well do whatever I want with that shaft. Both 3wood heads are 17 m2.

Hey WRX!

I want to send out a HUGE Thank You to GolfWRX and Fujikura for the opportunity on the Ventus HB giveaway! I'm usually the guy that's the only one in the contest and somehow still finish 2nd , so I was more than stoked to see a PM that I had been chosen as a tester! The whole process was such a joy to have been a part of and kudos to everyone involved! It was such a pleasure to talk over the build with Austin from beginning to end he was very helpful. When he first gave me a call , we chatted a little and he was very knowledgeable and seemed like he knew exactly what I was searching for in the 2i spot, so we came up with some ideas to build that perfect setup, and if it plays half as good as it looks , we've got a sure fire winner here!

I got THE alert today(11/3) from FedEx that my package from Fuji HQ had arrived, so of course in WRX fashion, I had to find an excuse to leave the office and run home to check it out and this beauty below was waiting for me! They were even kind enough to use one of my Bbf&co ferrules and it looks phenomenal!

I will have a chance to hit it in the coming days and get some on course feedback and better pictures , but just giving it the waggle test , it feels as if it's going to be something very special. I've played many iron/driving iron shafts out on the market in the last couple years , so I can give some comparisons to my findings , if it could help you guys that are undecided.

Little about me -

Age : 43

From Dothan Alabama , about an hour north of Panama City FL, for those who've vacationed here , we get a 12 month cycle of golf that includes maybe 2 weeks of leave changing winter 😆. I love to build clubs nearly as much as I like to play but with 3 little ones ages 1,3 and 8 ,  I don't get to play as much golf as I'd like , but I still get around the course pretty good as a lower single digit handicap. Putter is my kryptonite.  A nice and smooth swing speed with the driver for me is a pedestrian 116-118. Maybe a few more in the tank if need be , but I find it harder to get out of bed the next morning.  Not a member of a club , most of my golf is played on the Robert Trent Golf Trail here in Alabama along with courses down on the coast that require some precision shot making off the tee and into par 5's and that's where I hope this beauty completes my bag.

What's In My Bag -

*Update 11/4

Although I was blessed to have this opportunity of winning this shaft , I wanted to put all that aside and go into this giving you 100% unbias review of my initial thoughts, so here goes.

I had a chance this morning to head out to the range and give this combo a whirl.  I've had many DI setups in the past few years and I don't know that I've ever had one with an initial impression quite like this.  I wasn't able to get hardline numbers today but my intentions mainly were just to see what I could make visually happen with it on any type of shot. I can see why these are so popular and will continue to be.

Feel

The 10X Blue shaft is so smooth in the load that it kind of reminds me of my old Oban Kiyoshi Purple 100x but with more stability and less side spin. Don't get me wrong , it wasn't "soft" at all , but very easy to load and transition on even slower speeds. It feels very sturdy, almost like a thicker walled , less brittle feeling than the PX 6.5 I was use to.  What blew my mind was when I would hit a little 3/4 holdoff fade it was perfect and then right back into a full swing , it stayed right there with you. It was almost as if the shaft itself would tighten up when I went after it and dial back when hit it three quarters. Not quite sure how that is. Very smooth linear load that felt amazing.

Performance

Initial target I shot was 230-ish out to the front hill of a sloped green with a 10 mph wind off my left and hurting. There were no flags on the RTJ range today, since the greens had just been cut, so I couldn't actually shoot a flag , but the front hill before the green. From the first contact , this guy did not want to waiver offline no matter what kind of swing I put on it.  After the first 10 or so range balls with it , I gave it all I could. Low runner bullet , low/high cut , low/high draw and it just wanted to stay straight with the slightest bit of curve. Everyone of them flew on top of the hill or over and within reason of my intended line. I'm generally a high spin player that can usually put quite a bit of turn on one both ways , but the ball was flying on target with just a subtle amount of movement either way. I even tried to miss hit it high toe side, for my usual duck hook miss and to look up to see it's flying just a little left of target and not completely hooking left was a welcomed surprise! I can see this being a fantastic shaft for the hybrid guys that want some feel in a DI/Hybrid shaft, but worry about losing it left or right when the swing gets a little quick or over the top. I was hitting it well today and couldn't miss with most other clubs in my bag. Might be the honeymoon phase or placebo effect taken hold here , but this shaft is looking very good for me so far. I'm playing Friday for some on course perspective and I'll be able to post some launch monitor numbers over the weekend. Until then , have a good night and I'll report back as soon as I get the data.

If you guys have any questions that maybe I can help with in the meantime, please let me know!

11/9 - 2nd update

I've got one round in with the U500 2i/blue 10x so far and I will carry over the sentiment from what I saw on the range, this setup flat out performs for me. I tee'd off with it a few times on the front but chose it off the tee on all par 4's on the back. Out of the 7 tee shots , I managed to put some good swings on it for 5 of those and some not so perfect on the other 2. The 5 good swings were all around 250+ mark center cut , but I think where this shaft shines the most is how "good" the actual mishits are. Over half of these holes I tee'd off with it were into a hurting 12mph wind and the one I distinctly remember was hole 13 , 380 yards and 8 uphill. The wind was in my face , over my left shoulder, and so obviously I feel as if I needed to swing out my shoes to make it get out there.(thought in backswing ... ahh - I digress) 😉 I put what felt like a horrible strike on it and I could feel my left hand trying to hold it off, because I know the normal reaction the ball has with that swing. After the "oh crap!" I look up and see a ball that doesn't look as if there's anyway that's the result from the toe side slap swing I just put on it. It had a little more draw spin yeah , it was first cut left rough yes , but it was still 238 in the first cut and not a drop or punch out of the trees! I thought to myself , self ; there's was no way this is that good and I just smiled knowing what this thing will mean to me over the course of a year and the shots this combo will save.  Needless to say, my approach with PW was to 3ft and I gracefully two putted for par. Does Fujikura make putter shafts with Velocore that provide this same performance as my 3 wood with blue 8x and this 10x DI? 🤣 Sign me up for 2! I ended up even par 36 on the back with all pars and +3 overall for the day. All in all a pretty good score for me these days and I couldn't be happier so far!

I have 4 more rounds starting Thursday ,down on the coast (ETA willing) that'll hopefully help me provide a little more real time course action and I can't wait! I have yet to get on GC, but I'll be posting those once I get a chance too. I hope moving forward I can help answer any questions about the blue profile and how it works for me and possibly you. It really is that good , get the right version for your swing and give it a try.

Best ,

Jason

Great review.  Very jealous, as I'm trying to track down a U500 2iron myself right now.  I have a GOST TX enroute as we speak and I'm looking forward to that combo, but if it sucks then the 10X Blue is next up on the docket.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info! Was there that much of a weight difference between your Ventus and Evo2?

What were you playing in your hybrid before putting in the Ventus?

Best ,

Jason

Really good review! What does Ventus feel like compared to your GOST shaft? I have a 3i w/ a GOST S shaft coming in today to try out, and am close to having a U510 2i w/ Ventus shaft.

Yeah there was. The ventus came in at d0 and I want it d4. The evo2 is at d4 with 1g lead tape on the head.

Man I've tried a ton of hybrid shafts over the last few years. See my original post on page 1 for a summary. The rogue silver hybrid has been in use the most over the last year. Th3 ventus blows that shaft out of the water. The closest shaft that competed with the ventus was the ck pro blue. But that shaft had a very firm butt section and was a 90tx...just too much shaft for me. Ventus in my hybrid has just flat out performed.

Great review.  Very jealous, as I'm trying to track down a U500 2iron myself right now.  I have a GOST TX enroute as we speak and I'm looking forward to that combo, but if it sucks then the 10X Blue is next up on the docket.

I have a GOST shaft in a Mizzy HMB 3i coming in today... so I guess you and I are in the same boat haha. I know it's hard to track down a GOST shaft and their debut got ruined by COVID, so I had to jump on the chance at trying the shaft, perhaps just like you.

I had the GOST TX in a 2 driving iron earlier in the year. Very , Very stable shaft. Different 2 iron at this point , but I really like what the Ventus does for me.

That's good to hear. Any notable differences between the GOST and Ventus?

** Updated** I guess with what Nippon produces, I rarely hear people with negative feedback on the brand and I know this GOST shaft is something that may be a forethought of how future iron shafts can be produced. Just want to know what other people's comparisons are between the GOST and Ventus and how I can possibly keep the GOST in another shaft rather than selling it off (assuming I keep a Ventus HB shaft).

The GOST will feel quite a bit firmer over all than the blue. It's basically built off of the Modus3 105 steel shaft platform with graphite infused properties. I found myself really working less to get the same results with the Ventus and with better feel.
