Footjoy 2021?

Recommended Posts

I have 10 rounds in with my Packards.  My favorite shoe before these were Pro SLs but the Packards are better IMO - looks, stability, comfort.

I wish FJ would release more spiked colorway options now 🤞

I ended up reordering an 8.5W in the Packard and they fit significantly different than the initial 8.5W that I returned.

Super weird, but now I have no issue with fitment or slippage. The first 8.5W fit almost identical to the 9M I purchased.

Tried the Premieres out today with my Amazon Wardrobe. Did not really find them all that comfortable around the ankle area. Got some Hyperflex Boa and Tour X Boa on the way. Hopefully will like one of those.

You’re not normal..you should probably quit playing the game..premiers fit everyone..we’re footjoy

After a few rounds with my packards, I’ll confidently say they’re the best golf shoes I’ve ever worn.  They’re light, flexible, comfortable, and easily the best traction I’ve ever experienced in a golf shoe.  Keep in mind the only other FJ I’ve ever used are the Pro SL’s from a couple years ago.

I walk the majority of my rounds and the packards are every bit as comfortable as my Adidas tour 360s and code chaos.  What I mean by that is that my feet are as fresh after my round as they are before.  Oh, and they are cleeeeeaaaaaannnnnnn and classy. I’ve got a ton of compliments on them.  I even bought another pair in the navy/red saddle color.

They are awesome - I just bought another pair as well and I've already spent wayyyyyy too much on golf shoes in 2021.  I officially have a problem...

How are the spikeless Packard's? I really want the grey colorway, but it is not available in spiked. Any thoughts on their new traction?

Finally got to try on a pair of Premiers (spiked Packards). Regular laces and had slight heal slipping. Tried on a 12 medium. I had a pair of Pro SL in 11.5W, but got rid of them because they were too short. Width and length on the 12s was good, but heel had some slip initially. Do they break in and the slip goes away?

Best fitting shoes I have are a pair of Adidas Tour360 XT Primeknits in 12.5. Wanted something a little more traditional.

I personally had to try four different sizes to get the correct fitment - I had a ton of heel slippage with the my initial 9M that I ordered. I wear a size 9M in Icons and Pro SL, but needed 8.5W in the Premieres.

I also upgraded to Balega Hidden Comfort socks, which made a difference with heel slippage for me. Sounds crazy, but if the size is correct, the sock will help if you are using an inferior sock. I found my cheaper socks were magnifying the heel slippage issue.

If you’re referring to the Premiere line then no, I haven’t run into any issues with no padding.  The quality of the leather is great and if you’re wearing the right socks, they’re as comfortable as anything.

The leather reminds me of some of the nice leather I've had on Bauer hockey skates in the past.  Once it break it there's nothing better (for my feet).

Tried on a bunch of different shoes at PGA Superstore today. Packard Premieres in 11.5 medium without the insole fit good, but would be a tough walk. The traditions in 11.5 wide fit good. Stratos in 11 medium was a good fit too, but did not like the look. Ended up ordering a pair of the Flint Southern Traditions in 11.5 wide. Hoping the sole it is more burnt orange than red. Pro/SL in 11.5 wide was too tight.

I also spoke with someone at Footjoy. The Pro/SL is on a different last than the Premieres, Pro/SL last is a bit more narrow. Premieres and Traditions use the same last.

I have size 12 traditions that fit awesome but had heel slip in the size 12 packards in the store. Clerk said that it will go away as they break in because they’re so stiff, but that’s an expensive experiment if they don’t. Anyone have experience with this?

It’s been my fear with the packards. They no padding in heel.  Traditions def look cheaper but more comfy.

Yea I tried on Tour X too and damn did those lock me in. Love the packard style but idk if I can pass on the tour X performance.

would love to hear from more people on the packard fit compared to Tour X and traditions.

The Packards are the best, just ordered another pair.  I think they are more comfortable than The Traditions.  Def worth checking out

Traditions are are great but there's a reason the Premiere lineup is FJ's top of the line offering.  The quality is second to none.  Traditions are comfier out of the box.  But once the premiere's have had some time to break in, they fit like a glove due the quality of materials used.  In hand the traditions just feel cheap, especially the soles.  Traction is also night and day between the two.  Traditions tracking is good in dry weather but with any moisture I didn't feel as stable.  The new versa trax traction in the premiers with spikes are literally the best traction i've ever used.

Those look great - which grey color is that the English grey pebble or whatever it's called?  The grey looks a little lighter in this pic than it does on the myjoys site.

Does anyone have any of the flex models?

I need a shoe for hot dry days.

Have had many Flex pairs over years & they could be what you're looking for.

The fabric material breathes like crazy & it's very sneaker-like so it's soft feeling with out much stability.

Be sure to get the correct size & width for you.

NOTE:  I tried the Stratos shoe this year & was very impressed.  A leather shoe with more stability than the knit shoes.  Good cushioning too.
