Any Cat Lovers?

My wife and I have two Calico sister cats that we adopted as kittens from the San Francisco SPCA in Dec. of 2016.

There names are Patches and Pua (means flower in Hawaiian) and they're our little girls that have the run of our tri-level townhouse.

Sorry to hear about the loss of one of your cats. I know that it's really hard because they're family. About 15 years ago when we had to put the last cat of two sisters that we had at the time it was really hard and we didn't think that we'd ever own a pet again as it was too painful to lose them. You're two cats are cute and I like the Instagram page

We had two Sphynx but lost one to cancer and the other to HCM.

Not sure if the link will work, but here's Kappi while I was trying to grade a little earlier today. Love my boy, he has such a great personality. He picked me when we adopted him. He was my wife's wedding gift, and is named after where we went on our honeymoon, which you all can probably figure out.

That said we almost got another cat yesterday, but the person fostering the cat clearly did not want to give them up. Neither my wife or I ever got a cat that someone was fostering before and were very soured by the experience. I hope it was just that particular person who was rather condescending (said we wouldn't have time to care for a cat with a 19 month old daughter, even though we're both home 24/7 right now). With my wife being extremely covid-paranoid going to a shelter or store is likely out, so hopefully something will develop soon.

Nice. We had sister calicos until 3 months ago when one has to be put down very unexpectedly. Now one cat and two dogs.

This is Pete. A rescue from the local animal shelter. As close to a dog as a cat can be. Follows me around the house. Indoor/outdoor and only uses his litter box in emergencies. A true gem.

We always had cats growing up.

 

Ours were outdoor/indoor. Was cool to see them go around stalking critters. They would kill stuff! Always felt bad when they’d bring back a chipmunk...

 

We had a blind cat that memorized the house, then our yard, then the neighborhood and would go out all day and always come home. Blinkie. He died of old age, amazing since he would sometimes sit in the middle of the road and cars would always stop for him.

 

Ironically, we had this super quick cat named Foxy and she got hit by a car 😞

 

My dad still feeds cats that come to his house. There’s this one he gave a completely non-pc name I can’t say here 🤣

In 2003 it looked like me and wife couldn't have kids, so we adopted a cat. Six months later, my wife got pregnant. My son and cat grew up together. The cat (Timmy) passed away last year. Don't know if we'll ever get another one. He was part of the family.

There a lot of cats in this world and unfortunately many do not have homes and have to fend for themselves.....I always do what I can when i can to help out, but breaks my heart that so many have such rough lives and are mistreated by so many.....On the other hand, there are a lot of folks in this world that do lend a helping hand to these furry little friends.

This is Oscar. He's our 2nd orange tabby and he has had big paws to fill in following Myles, a cat we had for 20 years. Love dogs but cats rock. Their sense of independence, aloofness masks a deeper social connection they can possess. They are dogs without the neediness.

Amazing how attached you can become.....Always sad when they reach the end of the road....I have been thru it to many times.

Pete looks sweet but I wouldn't want him to scratch me with his nails.

It's really hard when pets pass away as they're part of the family!

It's really nice of you to help out feral cats and I feel the same as you. Over a year ago we had feral cats that had kittens where I work and someone tried to get animal control to come get them but they were told that they would have to trap them and take them to the SPCA. Anyway four of them grew up but no one could get near them and one day when I was crossing the street to go to another building I looked down the street and I saw that one had been run over by a car and it broke my heart to see the cat lying in the street.

Well he does eat good. But he's maybe 10 lbs, My last one was 20-24. My mom had a Maine Coon cat that was humongous. Like a bobcat, could probably kill small dogs. My mom at one point was a "crazy cat lady". She would build shelters and feed feral cats behind some seedy motel across town. One time I had to dig them out of a major snow drift, lol. Boy, I'm glad she gave that up.
