This year the Jaws5 looks way cooler than Sm8 too me...like the sm6, 7 style. Both will be non clicky and equally soft, do grab the grind you like.Callys may have 115 gram shafts ...ps new clevelands out soon full groove coverage..zip core are very popular,ps i love all 3 brands🥰

Like to know what you guys think of these both as to grinds, feel, and pros and cons of each. Reason I posted this as I watched video Roger Cleveland explaining vast grinds callaway has.

Pros-I hit the call always better.  For some reason I’ve never gotten along with Vokeys.  Did try some RTX4 this season and so far they didn’t work well for me, I think I need more bounce.  They gig a lot for me.  May take a shot at some zip cores if they ever get S400’s back in stock or I might just stick with my Callys

Which grinds did you go with ??

I've been playing the MD3s since they came out, so I've been a big fan.  I have the standard grind on my 50* & 54*, but the C Grind on my 58*.  I think they've held up well since I got them (2015 I think?) with enough spin.  The S Grinds move really well through the turf on full shots and I haven't seen any need for any other grinds out of the bunker on the 54*.

Maybe i misunderstood, I went with the X grind on my MD4's.  I really like that one, if i order another set ill definitely keep the X in my SW and maybe go C grind in the LW.  I like that too.

I play the MD5 in 52/56/60 all S-Grind and the one thing I notice is that my full shots from the fairway are more solid than with the vokey. I always seemed to struggle with the vokey coming up short unless I really tried to hold off on my follow through. I even contemplated going back to the set matching wedges for a time but didn't want to sacrifice the playability around the greens. I seem to be able to control my trajectory better with the callaway and the full swings go the full distance I need more often. Been an all around win for me.

Both Vokey and Callaway make nice, relatively similar grind wedges, except for the unique wedges Callaway makes as it tries to relate to everyone.  The main question is how someone feels about the head material and maybe stock shafts in each.

I always match SW with the shafts in my irons, and prefer forged heads.  However, no longer interested in spending well over $200 for a wedge that isn't exactly what I like.  I shy away from buying equipment blind off the internet.  Furthermore, do NOT like raised toe wedges, like Callaway's PM design, or wedges all tricked up, only to be used to slam into turf and sand.

Though I still believe the ball comes off the face of Vokey material fractionally hotter than a forged head, I am likely to stick with Vokey, unless I encountered something more to my liking.  I bought my 52 & 58 Vokey back in 2016 when SM6 was introduced.  We shall see, as the time is coming.

I got to hit a lot of brand new Vokey SM6s at a spring 2016 golf event, and two years later had a rough wedge fitting at a Titleist Thursday event. Although I greatly admire the technology Vokey brings to the wedge game, the Vokeys have always felt a little strange to me.

I simply feel more confident with Cleveland wedges (I played the CG14 in 50°, 54° and 58° for five seasons) and my current Callaway wedges (see bag).

I played Callaway for years. Especially when they were one of the only forged options around. Roger Cleveland is the best in the business. I did Vokeys for a few years. They had more options, but most the Callaways I played are better... I have Ping now, and when they were new, the hydromist was amazing consistent when they were new.

Vokey has the OEM market on lock when it comes to grind/loft options.  IMO that is truly what distinguishes the two.  I like the shape of Vokey more than the Jaws5.  Both are fantastic wedges comparably built.  If you go "true off the rack", I prefer the heavier weight of the Vokey Wedge Flex (DG S200) vs the DG TI 115 that Callys have.

How long did it take for the hydromist to lose its consistency?

Hard to say... I only have 8 rounds or so on them... I think they are still better most wedges. Ask me again this fall. 🙂

So the most important thing is to get fit, try and find a place to test the different grinds on offer. If not, the wedge selector tool on the Vokey Wedge website is excellent if you don’t have access to a fitter. You can use the info for all 3 brands. Be honest about your game when answering the questions and strongly take into consideration your course conditions.

If you’re in the US you’ll have access to all bounce and grind options for all brands.

I’ve had a lot of hits with all 3 brands over a number of years and in my opinion they all feel very similar. I slightly prefer the rounded look of the Vokeys and my current Cleveland Zipcores.

I personally think the only real noticeable difference will be the performance in wet conditions. The Cleveland and Callaway grooves and the way the face is milled COULD create a little more consistency. That is based purely on my opinion with my use of all three brands.

I wasn't aware of the wedge fitting online tool on vokey site. Great advice on getting fit for wedges. Thank you.
