Maybe reflective stickers on the ball will help with accuracy??

I play an inch longer 3 deg upright.  So mmy 9i is the length of a regular 7i. I am 6'4". My other sim (p2proswing) shows clubspeed of 82-85 mph on a good shot with the 9i. P2pro is fairly accurate on the clubhead speed metric.

If clubhead speed is not measuring properly, distance will suffer i guess.

It's definitely related to speed then and I'm not sure anything but maybe more space is going to fix that. It's very odd because I had such good ball speed numbers indoors vs. a GC Hawk. Try it outside to make sure you didn't get a lemon.

Not sure. I tried brand new pro v1’s as well to test. Then I used 9 irons and 7 irons from my other sets (mp52, ping isik etc.) but same results…. My go to 200 yd hybrid was only going 173 yards.

i have limited space. 8 ft in front and 7 ft from the back. I bought it after reading the requirements. Getting steadily disappointed…

Is there anything metallic in the radars FOV that could be causing reflections? I wouldn't be shocked if the numbers were slightly off indoors, but to be off by 50% seems like there has to be some kind of setup issue or maybe a defective unit. Have you tested it outside at all?

I recognize that some of us are having a difficult time with our distances per the R10.  This is an off the wall thought, is it possible that some of us that hit more down on the ball rather than sweeping the ball are having an issue due to the turf we are hitting from grabbing the clubhead at impact and thus slowing everything down?

Its the ball speed. If you usually hit your 9 iron 150, your ball speed should be at LEAST 105, depending on lofts. You need to adjust your setup likely, more room, or maybe something is interfering. Try it outside. If still having issues then id contact garmin. Ball speed has been really accurate in just about every review i see.

I assume the metal ruler and square were moved away prior to hitting any shots?

Will remove it and try …

I was reading the Garmin forum on the same topic and apparently the distances went wonky after the latest update.. Anyone else experienced this?

This early, I would delete and reinstall the app after a firmware update. Also, unit is already elevated from its tripod.  Making it even higher could cause failure to read initial flight data.

I used it in both set ups and same result. Will try an app reinstall but aren’t the measurements happening on the unit rather than the app? How will a app reinstall help ?

The unit is radar-based. Visible markings are really only necessary for optical-based launch monitors like the Skytrak and Uneekor. The metal dot didn't work because the R10 isn't setup to detect it. As far as I know, the metal dot on the ball is a Flightscope patented method of detecting spin indoors with a radar that doesn't infringe on the existing Trackman patents for detecting spin indoors. Garmin, not having either methodology available to them is making due the best it can by calculating spin and overall ball flight by doing look-ups based on measured club data (club head speed and path) and initial launch characteristics (ball speed, H Launch, V launch).

My best guess for the reported short carries is likely 'indoor swing syndrome' and suggest trying it outdoors in a net or on the range as the next troubleshooting step.

So I just got off a long chat and a phone call with the Garmin tech support folks.

the person on the phone wasn’t that knowledgeable but said this is their #1 reported issue so far and is top priority for a fix. Their team is working on it supposedly.

After explaining the set up and symptoms to the tech specialist on the chat, (he (Gary) seemed more knowledgeable) he mentioned they have been seeing issues with the driver but not irons. Issue usually comes up if the distance back from ball and to the net are not optimal. He said usually 8ft back and 8ft to the front works. Anything less and they see problems. He also said they are working on a fix! Stay tuned for another firmware update I guess!!

I try to put myself in the mind of the QA / testers.  They're going to test the firmware with the most recent version of the app.  And, possibly adjust the app for data sent by the adjusted firmware.

I found far fewer issues with MEVO+ in the first few firmware updates than most users, and I believe reinstalling the app at the same time new firmware dropped was part of that.

Finally got my R10 in yesterday! (Ordered on 7/13 from Golf Galaxy)  I'm curious has anyone tried birtees (or similar) with it?  Just worried the flying tee might interfere with the radar.

I use Birtees with my SC300 and it works fine.

Seeing as they're both radar systems, I would think it would work fine with the Garmin too.

I do not understand this kind of release (of the R10).
At release... the product Is unavailable.
And that sounds .... a strange commercial strategy.
Why they werent prepared at all for the release?
They didnt expect an high request of their product?
I'm missing something or what?
In Just curious on that, not polemical or critic.
I'm really interested on the R10... but i dont like to order items ... and w8 😛
When do u think it will be in stock in the great store online?

What do people think of the accuracy numbers?  It's great that they're publishing them of course but... +/- 5 yards for carry distance doesn't seem that great.

I had the same feeling for the +/- 2* for the angles. That's a loooot for club face

I've been following this Garmin R10 thread closely since it was announced and I finally got mine in from PlayBetter.  Some people were asking for a 3d printed aligner, so I decided to make one.  Mine uses an alignment rod that I bought for $3 at home depot (Everbuilt 48 in Refelective Rod), and not a laser pointer, but you could modify it if you want to.  This rod has a diameter of 7.9mm, so anything of that size will work.  Also, be sure to remove the little rubber cap off the end first.  The aligner fits on the back leg of the tripod and can slide up and dwon the leg in case it is sitting in deep grass.

Ive attached the stl file which I am releasing this under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (details here).  Basically, you can modify and use it however you want, but you have to use the same license and attribute the original author (me!)  As usual, no warranty expressed or implied.  Print and use at your own risk.  I tested it using PLA with a .4mm line width, 5% supports with gyroid infill.  If you don't have a 3d printer, I know that a lot of libraries and schools have them.

That is awesome. I don’t know anything about 3D printers. Would you be interested in selling one?

Agreed, I’d be interested in buying one as well.

Id alignment on this thing is so precise, why doesn’t Garmin make a fool proof way to align?

Guessing its not as important as it appears on here.... People are trying to excuse the errors and alignment seems the most logical,  but as far as I'm aware,  there hasn't been anything from Garmin to support the notion.

It literally says in the manual that this is important and how to align based off shape you are seeing.  Just as some might be trying to provide excuses for their new purchase, just as many here are cutting it down at any chance to validate their previous purchases :).
